Botani Timmings

I used to always come here. Today costumer service was horrible. I had to pay several times cause they lost what I had already bought. Fought with everyone because they messed up my garment. Spend 300 dollars and waited 40 minutes for someone to put my rivets and eyelets and then they tell me «I’m waisting their time». They stole money from me in that way. Stressed me out way more than I needed. I’ve been here over 4 hours, they’re making me late and keep saying I’m wasting their time although I probably spend more money here than most of their costumers and they lost one. I also got yelled by the manager after asking her I do not want to fight so please don’t talk to me again but apparently she loves fighting. I can’t believe they said I’m waiting their time. Don’t offer this service then! They also charge for it like excuse me? Will NEVER come here again. Rather spend lots of money in one of their machines than dealing with these people. So pissed! They also stole all my d rings and studs I brought with me.

This is such a lovely notions store. The staff are polite and patient. They have an extensive range of zippers and notions I van’t buy locally.

I just had the worst experience at Botani. I am a tour guide who works in the Garment District and an established fashion designer who has used Botani’s services before. I have brought many of my clients here and they have spent ALOT of money here. Well how surprised was I today when I brought my group here to shop. My group was excited to see all the items they could purchase as they are from 2 different African American sewing and quilting guilds from out of town. Well apparently their skin color wasn’t appropriate for the Asian owned business because the owner proceeded to throw us out. He actually had the gaul to say that he did not want THOSE type of people as customers… In front of them!!! He made up some BS story about having to call in advance to come in. I have come in through the years with alot of groups and never had this embarrassing situation happen. My group was prepared to spend alot of money and I am ashamed of Botani and their owners! We prefer to spend our time and money at places that are worth it. In a starving and shrinking Garment District, stores like Botani should be welcoming everyone equally. This is not just an industry location & you will go out of business this way quite fast!

Bad service and uncomfortable environment. Putting snaps on garments is $ 2 each snap PLUS $ 5 service fee per type of snap. So if you want to put on 1 snap it is $ 7. Also, it takes them about 10 seconds to actually do it, using dirty hands and dirty machinery.

I was in Heaven when I went in the place… Great selection. But BEWARE… They change prices at the register… on Three different things… Left feeling that you really have to pay attention with these people… Actually, I took the time on the subway ride home to see if the receipt was correct… The woman at the register who kept upping the prices charged me for something I did not get.
I will go back and let them know and see how they behave… Not good to be on guard… makes me not like them as much or maybe this was just one bad apple.
But Wonderful selection but not too honest with me.

The business hours are off. I called to see if they were open saturday (phone answering machine said yes), got here around 2 and they are closed. Not cool!

I was in here yesterday and yes, the employees do pounce on you like other reviewers have mentioned. But for me, who is making something for the first time found them very helpful as she guided me around and told me what would/wouldn’t work for what I was making. She showed me many different items that I would not have noticed because there are so many to choose from its hard to get through them all.
After purchasing a few pieces I decided I needed a few more and when I did go to grab them I was asked not to take them out and to leave that for the employees. Also, no pictures allowed to be taken in the store, which I understand with being in the heart of New Yorks fabric district, there is a lot of competition.

The team at Botani has been super cooperative and extremely helpful. Their supply is high end, so hence the prices. Lampo Eco Zippers are on par with RiRi, but more environmentally friendly.
I was having a sample made from Philadelphia, and they held onto my zipper until the sample maker was able to pick it up. They stayed in constant communication. Their service is excellent in the garment district.

At first I was very impressed by their wide selection of hardwares. THEN I was immediately turned off by being asked 6 times if I need any help by the employees (4 times by the same woman!). If they are not busy they will stay 2 feet behind you and follow you everywhere like you are a potential thief. Unlike at pacific trim where you get to roam about freely and pick the exact item you buy-​here the employees will pick from the container and bag them for you. This means you don’t get to inspect what you buy. The manager lady as mentioned in other reviews is indeed rude and DOES have a «superity complex» (?).if you come back to exchange a dented item she will glare at you and in a very hostile manner respond with «so what do you want? They are ALL dented!”-umm did she just admit to selling damaged items and set the worst example of customer service to her employees? They have also packed me wrong screws that don’t correspond with my hardware and when i came back to show them-​she was being incredibly nasty about the situation in Korean assuming I won’t understand. It was only after I responded to her in Korean that she was shocked and embarrassed enough to tone down her attitude and help me. She later asked me if I was a student-​perhaps to verify that it was only just a student she offended and not a company.
Bottom line. Great selection. Inspect what they bag you before you walk out or brace yourself to be «challenged» by the manager lady. I wanted to love this place but I will only return for things I absolutely Cannot find anywhere else.

It’s a shame that Botani’s great selection of hardware and findings is counteracted by disgraceful customer service, lack of stock, and somewhat high prices. While the store itself is modern and brightly lit, employees immediately «pounce» and will continue to ask if you need help while you are shopping. Unlike many of the other trimming stores, this store is not self-​serve. On more than one occasion, the piece of hardware I was looking for was not available in all of the finishes shown on display. No pictures are allowed for future reference either. Botani also eliminated their student discount.

Eh. Whack customer service. Even when they’re being nice, they act like they’re being put out. Billy gave me the wrong price on some zippers ($ 28), then Hafsa tried to ring me up for $ 36, then reluctantly explained the price change, then rang me up for a completely different number ($ 26), then after I finally paid ($ 36) she made fun of my color choice for the teeth. When I asked her if they have the color I needed (it was the closest I could find at the time, she said «no,» with a snarky tone of course. So I got my money back, searched farther, and ended up finding the right color for a cheaper price.
What an odd experience.
All of their representatives acted like they have a superiority complex.
Go to Archer Zippers instead. 244 West 39^th St # 2 At least their grumpiness is down to earth and comes with good prices.
Go to Metalliferous for your chains, unless you’re looking for something special — then
pay more here.
Go to East Coast Trimming first. for everything. They’re fantastic, helpful, and have great product.
I’m giving them a 2 instead of a 1 because they do have some stuff that I couldn’t find elsewhere, and because they had the carabiners I needed for a lower price than other stores.
Otherwise, it’s overpriced with snobby service.

new trimming store: very fancy and price factored into the vast array of buttons, gorgeous shaped and colored buttons! There is three sections to the store: the front is all the buttons that you can imagine; to its left is for decorative pieces and frame for purse making. At the back is starting to stock up with zips and other trimmings: too early to say what will be here as the store is definately new. It is like the moods of trimmings: seriously! The price may seem steep, but where else in the whole garment district are you get hand painted buttons (looks like it!). One button could tranform a jersey knit jacket! Super amazing. Definately the new place to go for the non-​essentails!

In my opinion, this is the best button store in Manhattan. I used to go to M&J, but never found what I REALLY wanted… The selection at Botani is bigger & better and they always seem to have exactly what I’m looking for :) The prices are better too and the place is not crowded — very relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff.

extremely unhelpful staff who has nothing to do all day but bitch about customers. they talk about how serious they take their jobs in front of other customers but if you ask for help, they’ll be like «yeah, i’ll be there when i finish bitching about you people.» of course, the store owner lady was just an another rude a** who deserve nothing better than her a**hole employees.

I LOATHE THIS PLACE. It’s in a section of the hood that makes it seem misleadingly cheap. I picked up a gold-​tone (very flimsy and plastic-​y looking might I add) closure and buckle, and thought it’d be $ 5 each AT MOST. I went to the cashier and the total was $ 25. YES, for a crappy CLOSURE and cheap-​looking BUCKLE that I needed for my class.
The employees here seem very half-​assed, but they didn’t do anything particularly awful to me.
I’m NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. I bought 7 yards of fabric a block away from this place for a total of $ 16. That was the only redeeming thing about my whole shopping experience. Pacific trimming had the same type of closures for $ 3.50 a pop. Seriously, Botani, what the eff?!

I love coming here! So many interesting little things that are supposed to be buttons, but are basically little nick nacks with holes in them. Highly recommend if in need of unique buttons/​trimmings.
