Bottlerocket Wine & Spirit

I have not tried any of the wines so might adjust rating after doing that but first impressions is this is close to type of wine store I would open. Most wines are in the ten to thirty dollar range with plenty below 20. General description of wine and then serious tasting notes along with magazine scores can be found for every wine. Very large selection in a well spaced out store. Little confusing as have wine by region though not well marked along with special areas with wines that go well with meat, chicken, take out food Etc. Have some of the bigger wineries but most choices here are brands you likely never heard of. Service is pleasant without being pushy as twice got asked if needed help and then was left behind.

This is one of my favorite wine stores in Manhattan. Great selections with recommendations for the kind of occasion or cuisine they’re best suited for. If you need to wow someone with your wine choices, this is the place to go.
Side note, this is the only store that stocks Maison Marcel wine (#1 rated wine at WineRiot). It is an AMAZING rose/​moscato blend. Make sure to pick up a bottle of this!

I’m giving this place 5 stars because of a unique store layout-​not too large and overwhelming genuinely friendly staff and every single bottle in the store seems to be of great quality and unusual and lastly of course, the free tastings which occur almost daily and all very unique. This place is super fun and not to be missed! Also prices are very reasonable.

This is the best wine store in the city. It’s super clean and nice with wines displayed on shelves and very well organized. They even have descriptions for the wines on place cards, but you won’t even need to read them because the staff is SOO friendly. Right when you walk in, no matter how busy they are, someone will likely come up to you to ask what you are looking for. It’s a big enough place that it’s hard to navigate on your own and you should take the help because they really know what they’re talking about.

Love this store, the people who work here are super friendly and helpful (without being at all pushy). They also gift wrapped my purchase which made it look much nicer! Really wonderful staff and great selection of wines, it is now my go to spot for wine and liquor!

I’ll start by saying what I like about this place. They have a great selection of wine and the store’s design is very fun and inviting. I’ve walked by here many times and always had the impression that the wine was on the higher end of the price spectrum. To my surprise, they had a decent amount of reasonably priced bottles.
What I didn’t enjoy was the customer service at checkout (older bald guy with an earring). I didn’t even get a hello or any sort of greeting. His first and only word throughout the transaction was «ID?». Yes, I look young for my age but this guy proceeded to look at me suspiciously throughout the transaction and then didn’t bother to say a thanks or a goodbye. It was incredibly awkward and rude — a complete 180 from the friendly service I encountered while picking out some wine. I think I’ll stick to the TJ wine shop!

Extremely helpful staff, a great selection of wines and liquors. The bourbon selection was a solid above average with the required standbys at a decent price point. There could have been more local selection of spirits, but the local wines made up for it. One of the nice touches was the shoulder bag for carrying wine. For once, I felt that my bottles would make it home without injury or insult. I will be returning. PS the 10% discount for first time visitors drew me into the store, but the staff will ensure that I return.

I really, really, really love this place.
The customer service is simply impeccable — attentive, informative, obliging. I can’t say enough good things about the staff. Moreover, the prices are reasonable (and clearly marked), and the selection is huge for Manhattan. I’ve checked several bottles against winery pricing, and they’re break-​even. They have a fridge fully stocked with chilled whites and sparklings as well. Even though this shop is no longer on my way home from work, I go out of my way on Friday night to grab a generous tasting sample and a bottle or two.

I stopped in here a few months back and was really impressed. The wine selection is awesome, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful without being pushy at all. They have great food pairing information. Definitely will be back when I’m in the area

SUPER friendly… someone walked up to me as soon as I came in and asked all the right questions: What do I usually drink, what’s the occasion, what food is it being paired with, what’s the region i usually like, etc.
Was able to pick out a nice Merlot from their huge, well-​coordinated selection that was within my price range. They emphasize the unique characteristics of each wine with their great tasting notes and background descriptions and even track your previous purchases so you can remember what you liked for next time around. I will definitely be back!

I wanted to give this wine store a chance. They have a great curb appeal and a bright atmosphere. Not bad but not great

Bottlerocket has a phenomenal selection and an unrivaled staff. I go here for pretty much all specialty wine shopping. Wines are well organized by region. They have a decent sherry selection, which is all too rare. The staff always has a recommendation and is very helpful. Prices are a bit high, but considering the neighborhood, environment, and level of service, it’s not surprising or too extravagant. I’ll continue to come here when I need to track down an interesting bottle.

Seldom do I differentiate one liquor store from another, but Bottlerocket stands out. Handy (and cute) little mini squares or sections separate types of wines into easy-​to-​find creative categories, such as Value, Fish, Bubbly or France. There’s also plenty of options at every price point. And the wines themselves are excellent— not a bad choice in sight. Got an 8 $ Excelcior Syrah from South Africa that was outstanding. Plus the bags come with a one-​sheet explanation of each wine. Clearly the owners have taken tremendous effort into thinking about how to make liquor stores better, how to take it to the next level, and it shows.

I’ve come here a few times and the service has been excellent always.
Called ahead to pick up a gift-​wrapped bottle and can you believe it –I arrived within 6 minutes of placing the call –and it was ready!
Efficient and so helpful– they deserve nothing but 5 Star ratings! :-)

Alot of great things about this liquor store:
–If you are a first time customer and you provide the cashier with your e-​mail address, you receive 10% off your purchase.
–Upon providing your email address, the cashier informs you that all your wines are saved and tracked by the store (super convenient in case you have the memory of an alcoholic).
–Wide array of wines from all over the world, sorted by country along the walls with a very helpful and friendly staff to help direct you where need be.
–Wine booth/​displays scattered around the store that provide choices according to a category (i.e. Gifts, Takeout, Seafood, Recipes, Red, Green, etc.)
–The store is very clean; reaching for that 10 year bottle of aged Barolo doesn’t even bring on a sneeze attack.
–Each bottle has a ton of easy to read, important information when buying wine: the grapes in the blend, the country & region of grapes (equipped with a map), Color, texture, body on one line with an expanded description of the aforementioned right below.
–The «Easy to read important information» for each wine i picked up came printed out in my bag!!! I LOVE THIS. On my way home, i read each bottle description and realized that there was even more than just the information that is displayed throughout the store. Categories for the wine’s results via Eyes, Nose, Mouth are provided along with the rankings from Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, WSJournal, NYTimes & the store’s own Index. At the very bottom of the one-​pager is a Notes section where you can mark how you liked the vino.

Great store for wine and liquor in the Flatiron area. The alcohol is well-​organized and easy to find. I came in specifically to find a bottle of Lillet Blanc and was able to find it within a minute of walking into the store. Prices are very reasonable and not overinflated like their counterparts in the area.
The staff is a bit on the pretentious side, but friendly enough and always willing to help if you have any questions about their wine selections.

Bottlerocket gives «liquor store» a whole new meaning. I was a first timer here the other day & had never heard of this store; but thanks to Unilocal & location services, when I typed in «liquor» in the search tab while I was in the neighborhood, Unilocal led the way to this liquor haven. Jackpot!
A bit overwhelming at first (at least to me), with isles & shelves full of booze from every country, taste bud & budget cap, this store is beautifully designed & categorized by wines & liqueurs per country. I was immediately greeted by a friendly employee & during my entire duration in the store (approximately 10 minutes), at least 3 other employees came to check on me & asked if I needed assistance. Wow! Talk about excellent customer service.
As a first timer, I didn’t know my way around the store at all but Cubby — one of the nicest employees that has ever assisted me — helped me find my way & gave excellent recommendations on a bottle of champagne that I was looking for. She was extremely knowledgable in the flavors and the making of the wine itself and helped me make a good selection without trying to sell me a more expensive alternate.
I highly recommend Bottlerocket if you’re in the area & looking for a bottle of wine, champagne or a liqueur — either for yourself or as a gift. Prices are very reasonable & great selections available.

I love this place. Part of it has to do with it’s ultra convenient location to the office. The other part has to do with the prices. Thirdly, it’s without a doubt the best staffed wine/​liquor store I have ever been to.
In a time crunch? Just need something that goes well with a hearty ribeye or is perfect for a housewarming celebration? Well, you’re in luck… They have these little wine kiosks set up in the front of the store. The kiosks help you pair the wine accordingly with the meal or occasion. Super helpful.
When you check out they give you a little print out info sheet on the wine you selected. It has space for notes and such so you don’t lose track of wines you especially like or dislike. Pretty neat little perk.
Also, it makes me extremely happy that Food & Wine rated it as being among the best of the best.

I still find it funny that you can’t just strut into any bodega for a bottle of moonshine, but hey — laws in New York City are a bit different than the west coast. That said, Bottlerocket takes that as an opportunity to provide an excellent product with event better customer service.
They have everything you’d need for your home booze collection. Any and all spirits you can imagine, plenty of diversity and range of prices, and enough hard-​to-​find gems to keep even the most seasoned drinker on their toes.

I love this place. The layout is unique and helpful (they have displays based on occassion and need). They have a good selection, but their best attribute would have to be the staff. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and eager to help.
One of the first time I visited, I wanted to learn about which whiskies were approachable. The guy helping me out took the time to speak with me and discuss all the different types of whiskies, how they’re made, and their flavor profiles. The next time I went to Bottlerocket, I needed a small amount of white wine to use for cooking and a staff member knew exactly what would be right for the job. The receipt even detailed the wine’s flavor profile and potential food pairings.
Bottlerocket also hosts lots of great tasting events in their store which you can find out about from their mailing list. Wow, that last part sounded like an ad, but I really do love this place!

Do you know what’s awesome? A wine store that has ‘rocket” in its name. I think of lighting illegal fireworks as a kid.
And that’s just what I felt when I walked in, like a kid in a candy store. Everything is laid out so well, they have wines based on different regions as well as the regions highlighted wines. It made my shopping experience very pleasurable.
I walk in and in the back I see them cracking open wines. I say, oooh wine tasting? A few look at me and say, no its a private party. Now, your in a wine store drinking wine in a customer area. If it were me? I’d have your private party in private or… Open a few bottles of wine and let everyone in the store enjoy in the festivities.
I start talking to a cutie pie gal and we engage in a conversation about the value wines. Very knowledgeable, so I decide on a French value bottle of Vrac as well as bottle of Sancerre Le Mont.
