This is a great place for brunch while touring the gallery district. I haven’t been for any other meals. I went there with my wife and one of our couple friends. We all loved it. The ambiance is very cool and they have a good balance of sweet and savory items in the menu for brunch and if I remember correctly, their bloody mary was amazing(I only tasted my friend’s drink). If it weren’t so far west(basically on westside highway) I would go more often and give it 4 stars instead.

Wow! This place truly is amazing. Came here for dinner with friends on a Friday night with a reservation. The location is slightly far west but for the food and service, I would definitely return! Party of three shared the strawberry arugula salad, snapper, salmon, and burger. The burger was delicious! No wonder a lot of Unilocalers recommended it. The salad was delightful too. Portion size was plenty — we didn’t have any space for dessert. The place is a gem!

Maybe it was because it was one of those frigid January nights, where walking one block, let alone three, causes my snot to turn into icicles. Or because when it gets dark at 5pm the long walk from the 8th Ave. subway stop to 11th Ave. makes this a desolate, lonely walk to the West Side Highway. Or, who knows, maybe it’s because I don’t have any taste. Either way, I was frozen before I got here on a Wednesday night at 7pm to find only one other table occupied in the entire restaurant. It’s not a large place, but probably holds about 100 people total in plush, leather and dark velvet. The lighting was spectacular; dark and romantic and perfect for a date. But it was empty, and kind of creepy, and to compensate they turned the music up so I had to raise my voice across the table just to be heard. Every time the door opened(two more groups came in while we were there) we got a blast of cold air, even though we were a good twenty feet from the door. And there’s a creepy fishtank on the wall. That said, the food was good, it not entirely filling. I enjoyed the ginger crusted snapper, and despite evidence to the contrary(my plate was wiped clean) I didn’t think it was amazing; it’s just that I was very hungry and it wasn’t very big.* The spinach seemed to be covered in the requisite amount of butter, so that was tasty. The roasted chicken breast was well cooked and tasty; I wish I had ordered that. The desserts were less than engrossing, but the lemon cream and strawberry jam was sufficient in the way that desserts go. They have a chocolate chipotle mousse brownie that I really wanted to try, I just really hate spices in my brownie so we passed on that. Overall it’s a fine date place, specifically if you live in the neighborhood but for the cost I wouldn’t make the trip regularly. * — Fair warning — I’m kind of a big guy, so my version of «very big» might be different than yours.

Sounds like this place gives away discounts for various sites-I came here with 50% from Scoutmob. I entered this place, which is right across Chelsea Piers and absolutely loved the ambiance! There are the octopus chandeliers, wine bottles drooping from the ceiling, squares of rhinestones hung on the walls, heavy brown curtains on one side with brick walls on the other, and a random but cutely designed white house on the back of a wall. That dining area was reserved for what looked like a bridal party, with all the girls adorned in headbands with bows on top. There’s also a bar area. In all, this place is damn cute! I got the eggs benedict and my boo got the skirt steak. Both were small portions-this is the first time I had ONE egg benedict-I always get two! Both entrees were flavorful, and it was a good deal with half off, but that’s about it. FYI, the french toast looked delicious, it looked more like a cake than normal toast(as I saw from afar!). No drinks included to this brunch place, which was a bit of a letdown. But it’s definitely a cute spot to dine in when you’re around 11th ave!

I had appetizers and wine here last Friday late evening. I tasted the burrata and tomatoes(ok) and the roasted shrimps with scallop risotto(pretty good). I wasn’t impressed with any of the two glasses of wine I tasted: a decent malbec and a pinot grigio that didn’t have any personality. The place is beautiful, though, so I think I’ll come just for drinks next time and try something else. A bit out of the way, but truly chilled and cozy.

I went to Boutique Eat Shop for dinner this past weekend and I loved it. My entire dinner from start to finish was absolutely delicious. Let me backtrack though, the place is sort of out of the way on 11th Ave, and to be honest I’ve passed by many times but never noticed it. Once inside though, the décor is beautiful and romantic. The staff was great, very serviceable(as they should be). Back to the food… for appetizer I had the fennel, pear and grape salad which was light and refreshing. For my dinner I had the pork chops with caramelized apples, perfectly cooked and a great mix of flavors. For dessert fudgie brownie, which had a nice crisp top layer and very fudgie inside. Overall a beautifully presented and very delicious meal.

I’ve come here several times for dinner and once for brunch. I prefer the dinner menu but seeing the natural light shine through the tall windows during the day at brunch is very beautiful and adds to the ambiance(unless the sun is in your face). The starters I had were amazing. The shrimp and scallop risotto is so rich and flavorful yet balanced. The pork belly is tender and delicious. I am always a sucker for burgers. I’ve been on the quest for the best burgers in the city so if I see it on a menu, I just gravitate towards it. I can tell you that I’ve ordered the burger at B.E.S. more than once. It’s cooked well, flavors are good, and a decent-sized portion but I think it really is the truffle flavors and that addicting aioli that makes me keep ordering it.

If you can stand to listen the self-righteous pontificating of the hipster crowd — «Oh, poor me, I’m unemployed because the government doesn’t spend enough of other people’s money on losers like me,» etc. — this place is great. Portions are small and prices are high, but the quality is well worth the size and cost. We had the risotto with shrimp and scallops. That appetizer should be its own entrée. For dinner, we had the lamb chops and snapper, both of which were delicious. Ironically, the side of sautéed spinach was the largest item we ordered. If you’re on a budget, we recommend ordering sides as appetizers: higher quantity, equal quality, and lower price.

Came here because of a Travelzoo voucher where I paid $ 69 and got 2 drinks, 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts w/coffee or tea. After checking out the reviews and menu, I knew this was a phenomenal deal because of the prices. Went with my mom and we each had a glass of wine and I had the steamed mussels w/crumbled sausage in tomato broth… delish! There must’ve been about 15 – 18 mussels with 4 pieces of galic toasts on the side, soooo yummy for dipping. Mom had the tiger shrimp and scallop risotto which was out of this world good except there was no shrimp. For entrée I went with the ginger crusted snapper since they were out of the chilean sea bass I was going to order and I’m extremely happy they were out cause I can’t imagine it could’ve been better!!! It was a perfectly cooked but small piece of fish, I’d say about 5 ounces, crusted in a nice flaky ginger crusting on a bed of yellow corn in a shallow pool of peanut miso dressing that I was contemplating licking off the plate at the end. I also ordered the parmesean mashed poatoes on the side which befuddled me the entire night because they were CLEARLY out of a box with no trace of cheese in them. How do you screw up this masterpiece with boxed potatoes!!! Anyways, Mom had the Australian lamb, 3 pieces of juicy chops served with awesome creamy thyme polenta and cherry tomatoes, also very good. The dessert menu is far from impressive… thai basil panna cotta, lemon chiffon and assorted sorbets. Nothing appealed to me except the chocolate chipotle mousse, brownie and spiced almonds, it was good but the brownie was on the dry side and also tasted boxed. Mom wasn’t thrilled with the panna cotta but it wasn’t bad. Overall, I was thouroughly impressed with the food and service, very attentive and nice for a packed house. The bill came out to $ 157, WOW!!! Def wouldn’t drop that kind of money again but I think next I will lick that plate clean of the peanut dressing!!!

Brunch. The melding of two meals to create a harmonious blend of awesome. I started birthday weekend with brunch at BES — apparently only known as Boutique Eat Shop by few. We had a reservation at 1:00 pm, and we were seated soon after that(we had to wait a little because we were waiting for a friend and the table hadn’t turned over yet.) The décor is modern, eclectic, and cozy — I loved the plush booths! ORDERED: Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon Blueberry Pancakes Skirt Steak Potato Wedges Everything was awesome. The eggs were runny and the foccacia bread was a great complement. Blueberry pancakes were the thickest and densest I’ve had, and it came with a divine lemon ricotta cream. You get two pancakes and my friend could only finish one! The potato wedges were fried to perfection and had a great paprika type mayo. The skirt steak was a little on the small side, but fulfilling. I would definitely like to come back for dinner — if only it wasn’t such a hike from the subway!

This restaurant space so appropriately nestles itself with the art galleries on the block — avant garde artwork and furnishing accessories decorate the dining room and bar area — beautiful chandeliers and plush chocolate velvet banquettes welcome diners. Books and knick-knacks peppered throughout the space give the restaurant a casual, homey feel. The brunch menu provided sweet and savory options, with breakfast and lunch fares. Since it was my birthday, and calories do not count, I ordered the blueberry pancakes with lemon curd… portions are ample and the pancakes were fluffy with fresh lemon curd that was a creative substitute to the more traditional butter accoutrement . I would be more than happy to go back, next time ordering the burger with truffle oil or perhaps the poached salmon! The service was friendly and sleek. While a little out of the way for a normal NYC excursion, it’s perfectly aligned with popular well-known galleries and the High Line.

Great little open-aired brunch spot on the west side highway in Chelsea. The number of items on the menu is pretty limited but each item is fabulous and plentiful. I had the really juicy angus burger and shared the unique french toast for dessert. What better way to spend Sunday afternoon than to brunch and gawk at random people like the(edgy) waiters/waitresses.

Came here on a Saturday for dinner with a reservation and was seated right away. The host/hostess were entertaining. The décor was very eclectic and ambiance hip and trendy. The shamelessly nude photos on the walls keep your attention while you’re waiting for your food. The service was attentive without being overly intrusive. We had a great travelzoo bargain for 2 drinks, appys, entrees, and desserts, and almost all the customers nearby us had the same thing! Now the food… drinks — cazuela and East side fizz. I was told these were good but Cazuela was awesome. appys — I was in heaven when I had my first taste of the shrimp and scallop risotto. Creamy, salty and sweet… yum. Seared ahi with peanut miso dressing got the thumbs up also. entrees — australian lamb chops and ginger crusted snapper. My snapper was good tender and moist on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. It was good but I had expected more, especially more ginger flavor. I’m not a fan of lamb chops but these were tender and flavorful. dessert — lava chocolate cake. How could I resist? It was good but not the best lava cake I’ve had because I didn’t get a lot of lava flowing out. I have to admit I’ve never had a bad lava cake. To me, chocolate, especially gooey chocolate flowing out of a chocolate cake, can never be bad. For $ 69 plus tax and tip, this dinner was a bargain. At the regular price of something approaching $ 200, I’m not so sure it’s worth it.

having diversified from my burger since my initial visit… and also keep in mind that BES rotates their menu seasonally. I have seen the butternut squash ravioli & the steak disappear from their menu. i would recommend: pork belly w/bits of watermelon! the pork belly is already sweet glazed with hoisin sauce and is super tender and fatty. the watermelon adds to a bit of cold and sweetness. refreshing period. the lamb chops with creamy polenta(chops are tender medium rare) and the polenta is buttery, wonderful without the gritty texture. the lobster ravioli. I liked the lobster ravioli with the cream corn and tobasco foam. delicious! it wasn’t spicy at all, but you can detect the spices chocolate molten lava cake. very rich, on the bitter than sweet side and the cake is a tad dry… vanilla ice cream tastes a bit generic, but you’ll need it to wash down the richness. good, certainly not the best i’ve ever had… the cocoa used could have been more velvet and smooth and less bitter. when having rich desserts, i like to pair it with something acidic like fresh berries.

Welcome to the Doll House. NYC’s hottest new restaurant and nightlife, called BES(Boutique Eat Shop). This place is stunning. The main dining room has a large wooden bar with a one of kind bottle chandelier, which duals as a stage for the entertainment starting around midnight. Mind blowing. Above the main dining room, elevated by just a few steps, there are four more sexy low lounge style dining. The backdrop to this area is what looks like a huge white doll house with tiny windows, which is just a façade to the kitchen. Behind the tiny windows is the kitchen where you can see parts of over sized Alice in Wonderland like silhouettes of the Chef hard at work. Every restaurant must have a fabulous bathroom. This one is unisex. Two bathrooms with sequin artwork glittering in the beautiful forms of a naked man and woman. What else would it be? Fabulous! The food here is amazing. My favorites have to be the Risotto and the Australian Lamp Chops, but here’s what we ordered, you won’t be disappointed. What we ordered: MUSTTRY: Diver Scallop & Shrimp Risotto Peppers in light Soy Broth Pork Belly served with tiny cubes of Watermelon Steamed Manila Clams in Asparagus Broth Australian Lamp Chops with Polenta Cakes & Tomato Confit Ginger Crusted Snapper with Yellow Corn & Peanut Miso Dressing 3 bottles of wine, and an amazing 2 hour meal later it’s midnight and I hear, «MAAAAMMMMMMMA, just killed a man Put a gun against his head Pulled my trigger, now he’s dead. Mama, life has just begun but now I’ve gone and thrown it all away! Mama, Ooooooh» and I’m thinking to myself, «It’s been a long time since I’ve heard this song, when the lights from the bar illuminate and there’s a beautiful woman is standing up on the bar singing it. LIVE. the best voice I’ve heard in a long time. So beautiful sexy hip place, amazing food, great service, beautiful people, and live entertainment and banging DJ? I’m home. I am home. This place truly is a wonderland. When they named this place BES, the left out the T, because this place is truly the BEST! I am in love with the Dollhouse.

Came here for my birthday and with a Bloomspot voucher in hand. The prefixed menu was varied enough. Our waiter had beautiful eyes. I’d say if it weren’t for the snapper and the awesome, subtle but eclectic décor, this restaurant would probably just get three stars from me. I’d say skip the octopus salad — not enough octo — but get the snapper with miso. Yum. The apple pie gelato — which is apple gelato over a crumbly crust — was a refreshing dessert. I wasn’t terribly wild with the filet mignon — a bit tough and too small. Interesting cocktail list, mostly featuring gin and tequila. I went for the Hemingway daiquiri and was quite buzzed by the end of it. All in all, a pleasant experience!

BES can’t decide if it want to be a chalet or an ultra modern bar. I’m all for ambiance, but please spare me the mounted stag head with beads in its mouth(??) and fireplace paired with a huge dollhouse and a red owl lamp. Wha??? Maybe I’m just annoyed that this is restaurant that calls itself a «boutique eat shop.» You’re a restaurant. You serve food and beverages. Get over yourself. My friend and I were told that we were«really lucky,» because there had just been a cancellation, hooray! We get to sit down! Funny enough, the 2 couples who sat to our left and right were told exactly the same thing by the host — «You’re soooooooo lucky! I JUST had a cancellation!» So either lots of people cancel their reservations at BES, or you’re supposed to feel reeeeeallly lucky that you get to eat there. May I please reiterate: Get over yourself. My friend and I ordered a lovely carafe of red sangria, and I got the organic angus burger with truffle aioli and potato wedges. The stars are literally for the food, which was AMAZING. The burgers were cooked to perfection — juicy but not raw — and were infused with truffle oil inside and out. It’s typically hard for me to down an entire burger in one sitting, unless I’m starving, but this burger was fantastic. Upon finishing our food — but not our sangria — the waitress came over and told us that we needed to «get movin’» because a party of 6 had arrived. And she plopped the check on our table. No dessert menu, nothing. GETMOVIN’??? Look, we came all the way downtown to your restaurant on the highway. You’re honestly going to kick us out after we’re even done, after telling us how lucky we are to be here? No way, honey. Uh-uh. I can’t decide whether you don’t need a reservation(given that everyone apparently cancels) or if you definitely need a reservation(given that you’re going to get kicked out if a larger party arrives). Either way, the food is great, the ambiance is confused, and the service leaves much to be desired.

Snapper was to die for! Wow! My friend and I came here since I was looking for a new place in Chelsea. After walking west past 10th Ave… we were in the middle of no where… thankfully finally found B.E.S. and I am still thinking about how freakin good my meal was. We walked in and I immediately fell in love with the décor: the handmade lighting arrangement over the bar was so unique, the dollhouse hiding the kitchen was cute and such a great idea and the neon blue fish tank kept me glancing back at it. Waitress was extremely attentive and made great recommendations. We started with the scallop and shrimp risotto — I only wish there was more than 1 of each but the dish was exceptional. The snapper was so flavorful I can’t even explain how delicious it was. The sauce and spices were great. It was ginger crusted snapper with yellow corn & peanut miso dressing… I did not leave anything on my dish, I ate it all. If I could give it 5+ stars I would. Seriously, you have to try it.

BES is one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in a while in NYC. The space is spectacular and I immediately fell in love with all the interesting art pieces scattered around the restaurant. The food is heaven. For appetizers, we tried the shrimp ceviche, scallop and shrimp risotto, and shishitto peppers– all we’re scrumptious. For mains, we had the filet mignon which comes on top of haritcot verts with a tasty sauce on top. We also had the snapper with corn, on a bed of peanut miso sauce which was also so good, I had the chicken, which sounds boring but wasn’t at all when it came out with the caramelized onion/truffle butter sauce on top of mash potatoes. I literally wanted to lick my plate but didn’t want to look like a pig. I saw some people order a steak for two which looked divine, and I’m looking forward to trying it the next time I’m there. The service was great and everyone was so friendly but not overbearing. This will be one of the top restaurant I bring all my friends if they want a unique NYC dining experience. I was very impressed with this restaurant.
