Bumble and bumble.

I had a very good experience at Bumble and Bumble. I went to the downtown location for a single process color service with Mai. The overall experience, quality of service and seeming color expertise exceeded that of my typical salon, consistent with the increased cost of service at Bumble and Bumble. Mai appeared to be quite seasoned, and was very attentive to my needs /​interests, and color application process. My only complaint about the experience was that it was significantly delayed. My appointment was scheduled to begin at 5:15, though did not begin until 5:45, and was further delayed. Hence, I did not finish at the salon until 7:30, which negatively impacted my evening plans.

The stylists here are true professionals. They go through an intense training program before they can work there and it shows! A stylist usually only does their one craft, like only cuts or only color, so I go to two different people when I go in. I go to Tiffani for my cuts and Amelia for my color. I trust them both with everything. They always truly understand my vision and do an amazing job.
This place is quite expensive, but it’s because of how expertly trained all the stylists are! It also has an awesome atmosphere. Upstairs there is a coffee and snack bar while you wait and a great lounge area. If you can afford it, this is the place to go.

I received a very unacceptable haircut from a senior hairstylist at Bumble and bumble on Saturday. I chose Ray because he got some very good reviews here, plus I figured if he was a senior hairstylist at the salon, then he must be good. I went in with a lob that had some natural wave but it was evenly long almost everywhere. What I wanted was a great layered haircut with movement that would look good anyway I styled it. What I got was a mess of a haircut for $ 165 plus tax and tip.
Ray and I had a consultation before he started and it seemed like we were on the same page. However, his cutting technique (as I watched in the mirror) was very bazaar with random slicing of my hair. Given his credentials, I trusted and trusted until the end. It’s not so much the wasted money that bothers me, nor that I still don’t have a great go-​to stylist but rather the fact that I must let my hair grow for months before starting over with a better style. I truthfully find it difficult to look at myself in the mirror and I feel that whatever attractiveness I possessed has been dimmed. I write this not to embarrass anyone but to inform so that you don’t have the same outcome I did. If I find myself not willing to wait months for regrowth, then I think I’ll get a keratin treatment to smooth out all the weird layers and get a small trim to even out the cut.

The location, sipping a cappuccino with the views downtown, the general service levels are excellent throughout…
I’ve not had a bad haircut here yet, but it strictly is a ‘treat’ place (normally head to fellow barbers)

Best haircut I have ever had! I’ve been going here for over two years now and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! The reception staff is always welcoming and warm, the views in the waiting room are spectacular and most importantly the stylists are the cream of the crop. Mischa especially is amazing! Thumbs up!

Had Francesca for my haircut and she did a great job. I cut my hair 2 or 3 times a year and will be back here for my other haircuts in the future. The ambiance and service were top notch. Would highly recommend B&B and Francesca.

Worst haircut I’ve ever had. Ever. I don’t know why this place is famous Both me and my husband got cuts and we’re both underwhelmed.

I am from out of town and very particular about my salon choices. This place is outstanding. Color genius Sasha did an amazing job and hair stylist guru Albert finished off with an amazing cut. Love this place and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend. This place is amazing.

I’ve had my hair colored twice by Karastella and the last time I got it done was May. I still get stopped about who colored my hair. I have VERY dark brown hair and she lightened it up by the softest honey golden ombré. I’m writing this review because she is ABSOLUTELY amazing and I should have written it sooner! The placement of all the color was spot on. If you have dark hair, go to Karastella for coloring!!!

I’ve been going here for years and have finally come to the conclusion that I’m sick of paying for rent in the meat packing district instead of a haircut. Especially when the cut itself is a boring glorified trim with zero design or creativity.
I can get my hair cut in Chinatown for 30 bucks.
Is BB better than Chinatown? Of course. Even twice as good, or 3 times as good… But they don’t charge 2 or 3 times as much. More like 5 times on the low end before tips.
Get over yourselves BB. You’re more like BS.

I’m honestly confused by the negative reviews. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind. They got my mother and me cookies and diet cokes while we waited, and continued to do so during our appointment. The salon is beautiful and spacious. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly and professional. We were only waiting for about five minutes before they came out for us, and i think that was our actual appointment time anyway. Yes, it was very expensive. And yes, it took a while. But my hair has never looked better. Totally worth it.
Ask for Amelia (for color) and William (for cut.) He did a fantastic razor cut on my long hair, and I was really not expecting to be into that, since I usually see them look choppy and terrible and result in split ends. His haircut was like the opposite of that. He checked the length with me several times to make sure it was okay — cut off a swatch from the back and confirmed with me that this was the length I was prepared to lose. It’s beautiful and exactly what I wanted.
Amelia’s balayage highlights look beautiful and natural, and were exactly what I asked for. They made me look like Scarlett Johansson in the 2014 Vanity Fair photoshoot, and I so did not go in looking like that.

I’ve been to Bumble and Bumble University three times so far for their free haircuts, and I’ve been very satisfied each time.
The first time I went in for the razor bob, which was a really good experience. I liked my haircut and appreciated that my feedback was taken into consideration. I had a long bob and about 2 – 3 inches was taken off. They’re very thorough in inspecting your hair so they understand the texture and the way it hangs.
The second time I came in for a cut, there weren’t enough stylists. Unfortunately, three never came back from lunch. The staff apologized, explained what had happened, immediately rescheduled me for next month, and offered a free hair product of my choice.
A month later, I came in and asked to have 12 inches of hair taken off. I was thrilled with the results! Amber from San Jose was really attentive to me and asked lots of questions to determine what would fit my face shape, hair texture, and my general comfort level. She is supremely talented, and I’m thankful I landed in her chair. The instructor helping her was fantastic as well. She was supportive and encouraging towards Amber. Whenever a question arose, she was quick to help Amber without being a backseat driver.
The school is very comfortable and airy with amazing views! They also have plenty of seating while you wait including some long communal tables where you can read a magazine. The bathroom is clean and roomy. Please be aware that the bathroom is non-​gender specific. You might want to wait if you have a problem with that. However, I really appreciate their gender-​neutral approach by marking the bathroom WC and directing guests to the Sitting and Standing areas.
Overall, I think this is a great place to go for a haircut, especially if you’re a bit adventurous. They definitely prefer when clients want to try something new. It doesn’t mean a lot of length off though!

I had a «treat yo self» moment and decided I just had to go to the Bumble & Bumble salon in meatpacking. After doing some research I made a color appointment with Ricardo and haircut with Tiffani.
The salon:
You go up the elevator to the 8^th floor and the doors open out to a beautiful, industrial-​esque loft space over looking the meat packing district. Once you are picked up for your appointment, you are brought downstairs to where the magic happens ;)
You have the choice of coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, etc. Love that :)
Ricardo did a beautiful job on my hair. He listened to what I wanted (subtle change to darker) and made it look natural. Then, I worked with Tiffani to help my hair a little. She listened to exactly what I wanted. You know you have a good hair cut when its SO EASY to style when you go home. I will definitely be coming back.

Moved to NYC just this past year and finally made a spur of the moment appointment to visit Bumble & bumble for color & cut. The salon is located on the 8^th floor and will give you sweeping views of the city from the Freedom Tower to the Hudson. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. A complimentary café for clients serving coffees, teas and more was a pleasant surprise and very much appreciated. The iced green tea… perfect.
Ricardo (Thank you!!!) is an artist of hair coloring. Warm chocolate with a beautiful shine. I loved their set up for clients while having their color done. Your seated at a long table which allows clients to place and use their books, laptops, iPads etc… conveniently. What an ingenious idea! No more trying to balance your iPad etc uncomfortably while you wait those endless minutes of processing.
After my coloring I was then led to the other side of the wall to the stylist section… (again…floor to ceiling windows of the city) Andrew greeted me and we started the conversation on my hair, etc. I appreciate that he took the time to acknowledge and really understand my concerns. My hair is now versatile, easy and has a bounce that I love. Thank you team Bumble… I’ll definitely be back.

Ricardo is a hair coloring GOD! He has worked on me twice, the most recent being yesterday and I“M IN LOVE! He takes any idea you have in your head, and creates it ON your head (haha) he’s so fabulous, sweet and funny! Recently I got some beachy painted highlights framing my face and the bottom of my hair, looks so natural its ridiculous! THATS my definition of true talent, dedication and mastering your craft, when one can make a elevate your hair to look effortlessly and naturally a fabulous color! My whole face is brighter and I’ve been getting compliments all day!
Ive been to both the uptown and downtown location (downtown being the most recent) and uptown is more of your «upper class» upper east side moms/​business women.
Downtown is a totally different vibe! Located on the 8^th floor, with floor to ceiling windows and the views are gorgeous overlooking all of meatpacking district and the river. There is a café located in the corner with complimentary snacks and beverages, and people serving you drinks even when you go down to the lower level to start your coloring/​cutting experience. The clientele are the epitome of the super chic downtown girls, that look like they have stepped off a street style blog. (which says a lot) The whole place has a ultra cool vibe but everyone is super sweet and not stuck up at all!
Bumble has really made hair coloring/​cutting an «experience» rather then a chore, and most importantly they have hired hands down the most talented people. Its an unbeatable force, and incomparable to any other salon. Simply the best in the game.

I should have written this review earlier, but I’m writing it now. Rogan is amazing. I went to him for 4 years while living in NY. He always consulted w/​me prior to every haircut, was professional and I always left wanting to «take my hair out».
The space itself is beautiful, cuts are a little pricey, but let’s face it, you get what you pay for.
I write this after getting the worst haircut in Chicago at a «top salon». I left in tears. If I can find my way back to Rogan, I’ll have him fix it and beg for his forgiveness.

I recently moved to New York and left my long-​time stylist back in Boston. I’ve heard great things about bumble and bumble and decided to check it out since I was in desperate need of a haircut. I made an appointment with Katharine and I was not at all disappointed. She did a fantastic job, and she thinned out my otherwise very thick hair with a razor that was a little scary to watch (since I’m stupidly overprotective of my long hair). She was quick, too, and had me in and out in under an hour.
The bumble downtown salon itself is also amazing. The space is huge, and the floor to ceiling windows give a great view of the skyline. They even have a complimentary coffee/​tea bar while you’re waiting. I think I’ve found my new go-​to place!

After a few unhappy experiences elsewhere I bit the bullet and called bumble & bumble. The lovely receptionist was able to book me in at short notice with someone she recommended for a female short hair stylist. His name is William. I met with him and explained my hesitation in having a haircut and he put me to ease very quickly. I could tell he knew how to cut short hair. A few weeks later and my hair is still great! I will definitely go back again and only to see William.
I really enjoyed the whole experience. A nice view and very polite and friendly staff.

Now that I found B&B I don’t think I can ever go to another salon. It’s the most beautiful space, with lovely staff, great products and of course coffee and snacks. And I walk out feeling gorgeous and rejuvenated.
I highly highly highly recommend Amelia for color and Mischa for cut, but everyone I’ve seen is terrific.
