Specialties
Named after a legendary Café in Tehran, Iran, Café Nadery features great eats and drinks, including locally roasted Gimme coffee, artisanal teas, craft beers on tap and a selection of some 30 wines. Our fresh Persian-inspired Café fare includes the «Iranian Garden» (fresh herb platter with sheep-milk feta cheese) and «Ash-e Reshteh» (a hearty herb and noodle soup topped with tangy yogurt and minted caramelized onions). Our small yet thoughtful menu features a vegetarian Beet burger and Majoon drink (a banana and Medjool date shake topped with nuts). We try and source ingredients locally and avoid GMOs when possible. For instance, we only use grapeseed cooking oil. Our menu was created by Chef and author Louisa Shafia.
Fiercely independent Café Nadery was established by a collective of Iranian-American artists, academics and professionals with the goal to foster dialogue and creativity. Special events include book readings, film screenings and music performances.
History
Established in 2013.
Tehran, Iran (1928) — Founded by an Iranian-Armenian, Khachik Madikiyans, Naderi Café in Tehran was one of the first western Cafes in the country. By the 1940s it had become the hangout place for Iran’s secular intellectuals and artists, serving as a community space for many of Iran’s best known authors. More than a coffeeshop, the café served as a space for discussions, for sharing and for gathering of creative spirits. As such it has come to symbolize the space in which the Iranian intellectual tradition took root.
Manhattan, NY (2013) — 85 years hence, we are establishing Café Nadery in Manhattan in tribute to that tradition. While no organic relationship or similarity in look and feel exists between the two cafes, Café Nadery in Manhattan is an effort to create a community space that can harness the intellectual richness of Greenwich Village, Manhattan with a contemporary progressive Iranian-inspried flair.

History of the Name
Tehran, Iran (1928) — Founded by an Iranian-Armenian, Khachik Madikians, Naderi Café in Tehran was one of the first western Cafes in the country. Café Nadery in Manhattan pays homage to the original Café Nadery and while there is no direct relationship between the two entities, Café Nadery in Manhattan strives to harness the intellectual richness of Greenwich village and the Iranian community.
