Carpet & Co is definitely worthy of its five star reviews. We have a very expensive handwoven-​by-​tibetan-​monks-​silk-​and-​wool-​cream rug. Here’s a tip: never spend $ 2000 on a handwoven-​by-​tibetan-​monks-​silk-​and-​wool-​cream rug and then babysit a «friend’s» neurotic chihuahua. Yes, you know where this story is going.
Urine and pet stains ALL OVER. This was a while ago and the poor rug has been through many amateur and professional carpet cleanings since. we even put it on the roof at one point and let rain and sunshine try getting it clean. The rain and sun actually worked for the worst of the stains but unfortunately the smell of urine stayed in the rug — not so I could smell anything but enough to attract our own tiny, usually-​housebroken dog who stealthily left us more presents. I suspect visiting pets did the same and every time we tried cleaning, we were left with a weird, rough, almost crusty texture and a brown stain.
Remember, silk and wool. Tibetan monks. It was very sad.
Fast forward to now where we moved from LA to NYC. We decided to get the rug cleaned professionally and cross our fingers. I called about 5 – 6 companies, some who gave me a flat rate quote over the phone and others who came out to give me a quote.
Carpet & Co was one of the first companies and it was extremely easy to set up a free quote. David arrived right in the time window and even called beforehand to let me know he was on his way.
It was then we discovered that the rolled-​up rug got moisture it in sometime during the move and started growing black mold. It was like the gifts just kept coming.
We wanted to get a couple of quotes before committing so I thanked David and told him I’d let him know. David was very gracious about the whole thing and gave me two quotes — one for intensive cleaning and one for a basic clean.
We eventually decided to go with Carpet & Co, especially with their $ 50 off for first time customers. David even gave me an extra $ 20 off. That plus free pickup and delivery was very cool.
They were great about keeping me updated. I asked about possibly dyeing the entire rug and they called me with a quote. Ultimately, the cost of stain removal and dyeing was too much ($ 500 – 600) so we stuck with just cleaning. Throughout the process, the office also emailed me updates.
At most, I wanted the rug clean and any urine odors neutralized so our tiny dog wouldn’t be tempted to use it as a bathroom again. I didn’t have more hope for the stains and figured we could just put it under a bed.
David just delivered the rug about an hour ago and I was shocked to see how much better it was. The mold is completely gone and the horrible brown stains are faint. The crusty texture is also gone. David said he had them clean the rug five times to do their best. He asked me to write a Unilocal review if I were happy — which, honestly I would have written this unprompted, the customer service impressed me that much. David knows what he’s talking about and goes above and beyond.
We need to get our U-​shaped leather sectional cleaned at some point and Carpet & Co would be my first choice. I’m an extreme Unilocaler — I review when I love or hate a place. I wouldn’t normally be this enthusiastic about a carpet cleaning company but I was so surprised at the improvement in the rug when I wasn’t expecting much.

I have nothing but positive things to say. They were friendly, accomdating, professional, and did a great job. Val was great about confirming appointments and quickly responding to any questions I may have. David cleaned the carpets in my home and was very nice — and gave me tips about keeping the rugs clean in the future. I would recommend them to anyone

I got an accurate cost quote, set-​up and appointment for less than 24-​hours later and got lots of information from their service manager, Holly, all on their website’s live chat feature.
When David came to clean the rug he also gave us lots of great information on how to care for it in the future, so that he (in his words), «never has to see us again.» I think it takes a lot of integrity to teach somebody how to actually avoid repeat business.
