Grouchy and terrible service with the bartenders. Was there on a Saturday night, and both bartenders were rude and slow. Drinks were nothing great. I would avoid solely due to the bartenders.

Ehhh. Small place, food was ok, had some apps and a couple sandwiches between a few us before catching a show. For 6 in the evening bar was very bright, lights up high. Service was fine. The décor came across as very tired. $ 9 for a shot of Jameson a little steep for the atmosphere provided.

Went in right after an amazing experience at the Broadway theater. They gave us a great ending to an amazing night! The guy who served us was super nice and friendly. Very patient with us. The drink were sooooo delicious and the food was very good. We ordered the steak and fish and chips. We will definitely come back :)

It’s a bar. A typical All American Bar. No complaining here, nothing special, nothing to complain about. I’m a mid western girl and this is the type of bar that I’m used to. It wasn’t a party scene, just some people having some drinks(and a couple who were keeping to themselves and dancing). It’s ok, if you’re in the area, might as well have a drink.

Unless you are a regular and the barmaid knows you DONOT go there. Went there for a late lunch and was ignored while she took care of her«friends» and finally came over after calling out to her. Food was pretty bad. How do you mess up Cesar Salad? Put the smallest amount of dressing possible and use bagged stale bread. Lunch specials were a small piece of chicken over mashed potatoes. Come on people it’s NYC make it right or close up First and last time there.

Very relaxing atmosphere and a pretty good staff. Went in here on a Friday night and sat at the bar, there was plenty available seating. I’d definitely come here again!

Good food, friendly service, and the waitress helped my mom get good that was dairy free. Great fish and chips(catfish) and delicious fries. The pub was very cozy with great atmosphere.

Me and my wife were looking for a good place to grab some drinks near our hotel in NYC. Found a bar called three monkeys down the strip but it was too packed and loud. We walked across the street to find this cozy place and it did the job! There could be more people but it was just enough to add good drinking atmosphere. Service was good but nothing over the top. But how much can i expect from a bartender on a sat night. Would recommend for a visit!

I work across the street, and this is basically the office bar. I even had my birthday here this year after work. The place is comfortable, drinks are good, and the staff is awesome and will quickly recognize you if you start coming in regularly. It treats me and my coworkers well, which makes it a great work bar.

Yummy drinks. Fun atmosphere. My only suggestion would be for larger TVs as it was kinda hard watching the game from the bar

Best grilled chicken sandwich in the city! For sports, they could use larger flat screens. Staff is friendly and attentive w/o being obtrusive.

Great atmosphere! Nice bar. Everyone is easygoing. The waitresses and bar tender are great! Wish the burgers were better though. Oh, and the private room in the back is huge!

Characters NYC is located directly across the street from Studio 54 on West 54th Street. Easy to find and hard to forget! When visiting Manhattan you are going to realize quickly that your money will disappear on eating out. It is a simple fact of life there. And, it does not help that NYC has an outrageous sales tax to add onto your purchases. OK, that being said, Character’s NYC is an excellent choice for dinner or pre-theatre cocktails. Their menu is pretty much standard pub fare, and is compact. However, the food is very good. Plus, the amount of food that you receive makes it as good of a value as you will find anywhere in Midtown. The bartenders are very engaging, and make some really terrific drinks. The atmosphere varies depending on the time of day, but for after work or on a weekend night, you cannot beat it. If you are over 45, you will appreciate being able to have a conversation without have to yell or use hand signals. No digs at some other places that I visited, but give me a break with the super loud music. In a nutshell, the food is good, the drinks are strong and the atmosphere is ideal, so stop in sometime if you haven’t already and introduce yourself to a your new favorite watering hole !

Not a bad place to go prior to heading to see a show at Studio 54. Fair prices, bartender was really nice. I came to watch the World Cup. Setup could be better, but I didn’t mind too much.

I was staying in the city for 4 nights, working on the video for the NY Half Marathon. Usually back to the Sheraton around 8pm and just wanted a quick bite and a drink. This place was recommended by the Sheraton guy. Well, for me, it was perfect! Sat at the bar, reasonable drink prices for NYC and a great bar menu. One night I just had the burger, which was excellent. But the next night I had the Southwestern Chicken Wrap. Awesome, spicy a real kick to it. Bartenders are friendly(the guy remembered me and asked how the project was going). The only complaint is they CRANK the music for no reason. You could see people trying to talk, and had to yell. It is not like they have a dance floor. Not sure what they are trying to prove. I was reading my Kindle, so it was only mildly annoying. I asked to have to turned down, which they did(twice!). But it kept creeping back up. Silly. Actually would have stayed for another drink, but decided the noise was too much. But overall, a great place to get something reasonably priced and quality for this part of the city.

I crashed my friends’ bachelor party here, I was hoping to catch my friends having a great time, however They looked miserable. My friends must have spent over 700 on drinks and the bartender didn’t have the common courtesy to buy back some drinks? Ya, ok you are a character alright, a lame one! My friends went there only for the memories(see below) now, we will never set foot in your bar. Good luck selling your bud lites to the moronic Frat boy, bimbo crowd and thank you for ignoring all your other patrons, who you know actually spend money. If crappy college games and an annoying crowd are your thing, then this is the place for you, if you have more than 3 brain cells, AVOIDTHISPLACELIKETHEPLAGUE! :SIGH: I Miss the previous establishment, Dillon’s, which was an amazing place! They used to host some amazing metal shows… those days are long gone.

My friend decided to hold her birthday here as they have a back room. Even though she reserved it, we were later informed that it wasn’t exclusive to our party. Which is fine, because we don’t mind sharing. We had waited to get dinner, because the menu looked really good. I ordered a Tomato and Mozz salad, which was advertised as an actual salad on a field of greens with some other things… what I got was a caprese salad. I would have been fine with that, but I would have liked to have known beforehand what I was ordering. However, the tomatoes were not even ripe and more sour then sweet. My friend ordered the avocado salad… which did not come with any avocados. Another friend got sliders only to find out they did not come with fries(which the menu said they did). The food seemed to be overpriced for what you got. I expected the crowd to be a little more upscale and trendy and a less frat boyish. However, that did not appear to be the case. Like I said before, I didn’t mind the back room not being private except for the fact that their were annoying, skeevy frat boys, including the frat BOY who managed to puke all over the ladies room. Probably will not be going back.
