ZAGAT says: «The ‘wondrously eclectic’, ‘well-displayed’ wines at this Chelsea Market vintner include ‘uncommon’ [wine] labels from around the globe on offer at ‘every price’ point; frequent seminars held in its cellar-esque digs and ‘tastings that lead you down new paths’ add to the educational aspect, as does the ‘cheerful’, ‘insanely helpful’ staff there to ‘giddily’ guide you whether you want a ‘$ 7 bottle or a $ 2,000 one.»

History
Established in 1997.
The Chelsea Wine Vault is owned by an unusual combination of uniquely talented partners. In 1996, Dan Barteluce, an Architect and Don Kurt, a television Executive Producer, had an idea to open a wine storage facility when one ran out of space in his NYC apartment. After hearing about the Chelsea Market they tried to lease out space in the basement, but were told that to get any space, they had to open a retail store in the building.
Located inside the widely acclaimed Chelsea Market, Chelsea Wine Vault offers an impeccable selection of wine and spirits in a sophisticated, handsome, and highly controlled environment. This uniquely well-suited space also includes an inviting tasting room for classes and private parties, and an extraordinary 10,000 square foot underground cellar that can contain 25,000 cases of wine. Since its inception in 1997, this impressive facet of Chelsea Wine Vault has earned a reputation as the top wine storage facility in the tri-state area.
