Church of Scientology

A cult which should be destroyed. This organization has wrecked thousands of people’s lives, siphoned billions of dollars from people, and serves no purpose for humanity. This «religion» is nothing more than a charade designed to take money from people. I urge everyone to read the book «Going Clear» or watch the HBO documentary version of it. Scientologist is the enemy of all things decent and free.

This place scares me. Ok so heres what happened today. Im ready to get on the subway then I see this cute guy giving out pamphlets for free personality test. I take the brochure and end up showing up at this place. I swear as soon as I entered it was like a scense from the movie «The Stepford wives.» Everyone seemed too nice and move robot like, anyway I didnt notice that at the time because I was so awestruck by how damn the place looked. So I sit down and take the test, after I filled out their form (I put a bunch of bull**** answers). People kept stopping by to compliment my hair and tell me how glad they are to help if I need anything. So far so good right? Fast forward to when I get the results of my test. The biatch that read me my results was so insensitive and kept ending her sentences with, «dont worry, scientology will help you with this» My personality test pretty much read that my life was a mess It was 99 percent accurate and I was considering taking their confidence course. Thank God I didnt because the girl kept pushing me and kept saying «when are you coming back to pay for the course». I told her I had to sleep on it and resonate on it then I swear the spawn of the devil himself came out. The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it in ½ with a knife. The conversation made a complete 180 and i felt like she was berating me and making me feel small. This chick was messing with the wrong one, I wanted to lunge across the table and slap her in her face. She was rude insensitive and a bully. You cannot bully people into joining a cult religion. My first red flag came when she strted talking about scientology like it was the second coming. Oh yeah and she said I was unconfident. I had enough confidence to call her out on her bullshit. I am in control of my decisions and I like to keep it that way. Stay away from here if you want to keep your sanity and freedon of choice. If this crazy, stupid **** calls me, I will tell her where to shove my finger and what to sit on. Theres that confidence for ya honey. Whew ok im done

Before visiting C.O.S or opening your wallet, I suggest you watch «Going Clear «the HBO Documentary. You will soon see that its just another Wako, or Jonestown.

This woman basically grabbed us off the street and forced us to watch some 20 minute movie about Dianetics. While she was walking us to the theater she kept on giving us compliments on our outfits, she was truly desperate for us to join the «Church».
To sum up Dianetics, it’s basically hypnosis of the mind.
The place was creepy as hell, and I just wanted to run out of there. I have never been so scared in my life as I had in that moment.

Look, if you are going to this for the laughs, don’t. Go to a Mormon church, or read the Bible. This will not give you the laughs.
This is a horrible pseudoscience in a really creepy setting (the building is well lit and modern, it is the atmosphere) where they talk a lot of gibberish about Thetan, their beliefs etc. (no mention of Xenu at all! If I had paid to go in, I would have asked for my money back). They don’t even let you laugh at the videos for if you do, a visibly frustrated with her life employee would ask you to flip off (in no gentler words). And they do extremely hard sells, the kind that is really awkward and difficult to circumnavigate.
Seriously, just avoid.

This place is awesome! The staff are all highly trained, and are very interested in seeing you succeed in life. I have gotten so much help from going here. I am doing very well on my current course and I attribute that in large part to the dedication and proficiency of the course supervisors.
The actual set up of the building is perfect as well. You go through the revolving doors and enter right into reception, with a bookstore and course room just beyond that.
The films that the Church has on the founder and the genesis of the religion really helped me to get introduced to the subject and familiarized with what Scientology could do for me. The stuff really works, but you don’t realize it until you try it for yourself.

Very nice & friendly staff. Beautiful building. Really cool display on the main floor. Overall very impressive. Even if you’re not a scientologist and have no interest in becoming one, it’s super interesting to check it out and see what it’s really all about. Not a cult or anything like that. Genuinely nice people. Also, they have really cool free stress tests. If you happen to be in Times Square it’s definitely something cool to check out!

I went to an open house here about a year ago. I took a 500 question personality test then had a three hour conversation with one of their counselors and pretended to know nothing about scientology. I didn’t want him to be coming from a defensive place when we spoke. The personality test was spot on. Scary. And the guy spoke a lot of universal truthes. That’s how they get you. Pretty soon, they got you worshiping the lord Xenu and you’re jumping up and down Oprah’s couch like a meth head. Interesting experience. Crazy people.

Avoid at all costs. I am an ex-​member of the Church of Scientology. I have seen their attempts at trying to entice people from the streets (usually in Times Square). This is how it works;
— They ask you something like ‘would you like to see a documentary’ or, more usually, ‘would you like to take a free stress test?’ The ‘stress test’ thing works well, the idea is that people find things like that interesting as most people think that they are either under a lot of stress or are highly skilled at being calm. Its a good way of getting you through the door.
— They will take you to the very impressive and expensive Org building, just off Times Square. They will sit you down and introduce you to a device called an E-​Meter. It is basically a tension monitor that was originally designed to measure pain levels during chiropractic procedures. You hold a pair of cans and a minute electrical current is passed through your body.
— The operator will ask you a few random questions and then point at the needle on the E-​Meter. It will invariable go to ‘fall’ which, the operator will tell you, points to stress in your life. The E-​Meter is a very intricate piece of equipment — Scientologists must train for years in order to operate one properly. The people who take the ‘stress tests’ are not trained properly (I know, I used to do them) and they are instructed to set the sensitivity levels on the machine to their highest levels in order to guarantee the reaction they want. It will ALWAYS go to ‘fall’. Every time.
— They will tell you that this reading shows them that you have issues in your life. How can you begin to deal with these issues? Well, today is your lucky day! Have you ever heard of a book called ‘Dianetics’?
— At this point, the hard sell begins. You should feel sorry for the person trying to sell you the book. They are not getting paid and make a couple of dollars from each sale they manage to close. If you do buy the book, you will have to fill out a card with your contact details on it. You will then be added to a list and they’ll send you a ridiculous amount of junk mail trying to sell you books and courses.
— If you wish to put this to the test, just go down there and give it a try. If you manage to leave without them telling you that you have issues that could be helped by ‘Dianetics’, I’ll give you a million dollars.*
And there you have it. The inside scoop. One thing I will say is this; don’t be rude to the people who try and get you to sign up, they are the real victims of this stuff. They won’t ever see any of the wealth and riches that the Church leadership enjoys. They work a crazy amount of hours per week as ‘volunteers’ and survive on a pittance.

This was the single most entertaining thing I did in New York and it was free. It’s not like it’s rare to have zealots ration their perspective at you. Hey, I don’t find this whole thing any more outlandish than any other religion. I’m pretty sure they all came about the same way only this one everyone can remember so thery’re like, oh no they are crazy. And you’re right they are crazy! But so is every other hard core religious nut out there. I came, I learned, I left and I was entertained!

The Church of Scientology of New York is an island of sanity and friendliness in Times Square.
You can do free stuff like take a Personality Test or see a film.
You can buy a book on the subject for $ 20.00 or less and see for yourself what it is.
There are more bright happy people who look you in the eyes when they talk to you in the Church of Scientology of New York than pretty much anywhere else.
Take a tour. See a video. Talk to a Scientologist.
If you’re of a mind to, there are inexpensive short courses on practical subjects like finance and relationships.

So a Taoist, a Muslim and four Catholics were walking down Manhattan when a Scientology member approached them. That’s how my afternoon started last friday (I was the Taoist). Somehow we got suckered up to go inside their church, it wasnt that bad though, we didnt end up brainwashed, we got to see a free movie and everyone seemed nice (if you can manage to ignore the creepiness factor)

Um scary, creepy and cult come to mind. I went with my friend Becky R. to this establishment after being In the Heights lottery losers. We were going to grab a pamphlet and just see what it was like inside. (I guess when they say curiosity killed the cat they weren’t kidding)
We walked down a set of stairs and this girl is like omg, I love your jacket and starts touching me and my jacket. Ummm I was wearing a North Face neoprene jacket. Please tell me what is special about that? and honestly, how many of them do you see every minute walking around midtown?
As I put it to Becky I felt like my skin was crawling and I was in the inner depths of hell. I think I now understand why Katie Holmes looks like an alien these days. Oh yeah and they have these weird video testimonials of people talking about how great Scientology is. If this place doesn’t scream cult or scheme then I don’t know what does. What other church do you reach «higher levels» by donating money?
Oh and as for the altercation on the door. We learned that there is definitely strength in numbers. If you want to go just to experience this place, bring a friend or you may not be able to get out the doors!
Alright, now on to the Kabbalah center. Bwahaha.

I dragged a friend in with me just to scope it out, and the sole 2 minutes we spent inside was enough to creep us out. Seriously, what legit religion does not have pamphlets available? They were trying to force me to buy a book instead. No thank you. All I wanted to do was grab a brouchure & take off, but I think they would have preferred I stuck around, shelled out some money, and converted on the spot. We ran into an interesting altercation at the door as we were leaving. Some other poor soul was also trying to escape and another woman had a strong hold on her arm and would not let her go. Needless to say, we took off running and never looked back.

Honestly, I know quite a few scientologists and the media portrays it all wrong. It’s actually very helpful and all the people I know who have used it have benefited from it to improve some aspect of their life. I don’t see why people are so up in arms about a religion that is doing good in the world. They make such a big deal out of it when if people actually took the time to really look into it rather than listening to what cartoons and tabloids say about, they might realize they had it all wrong. The only thing these scientologists are doing is trying to improve their life and the lives of people around them.
Get informed, read a book, talk to someone who has used it, or something… don’t believe all the ill spoken words… you should always find out for yourself if something is true or not rather than just going with the crowd. That is just group think and a very dangerous way for a society to operate in regards to anything.

Tang. Tuna Sandwiches? DONUTS!!? WHATTT!!! Catering was non-​existent when we went in March. This lady with engaging Elijah Wood eyes, except with a dash of, «I’m going to hyponotize you and eat your first-​born» look instructed us to wait for the next viewing. A few others joined us in a small room, and we watched this film for 15 or so minutes. Oh boy, the one-​liners were prolifically filling my head. I found it quite disturbing and disappointing. Disturbing-​the melodramatic acting, violence, and vague wacko theories. Disappointing-weren’t we supposed to get hypnotized and brainwashed? Whatevs. Afterwards, Elijah eat your first born Lady made us fill out some freakin surveys. Then she showed us the Dianetics book which was ours for a low price of 7.95 and a pledge to sell X amount of books was enclosed. I’d rather get a Bible for free. Don’t be engrammin’ my style just cuz I ain’t down with Zenu! Geez man.

I had a very terrifying (but amusing in retrospect) experience here when two of my friends and I decided to stop in. We watched the «Orientation» video, which has to be seen to be believed, and then we RAN out.
Whatever you do, don’t give them ANY identifying information and don’t even think about taking any of the classes or getting remotely involved with them. Do a google search on scientology to find out why. They don’t call it the co$ for nothing.
