I had hired Mason and City Soundproofing in the past and they did a stellar job so I hired them again to work in my new space.
I want to write this review to express the outstanding service I received from Mike, Mason and Chris. They are true professionals and are very effective technically with respect to knowledge of sound proofing as well as being aesthetically minded. I needed my recording studio soundproofed when I first moved in and they helped me in several stages of the process and stayed within my budget.
After some discussion and careful evaluation of my situation, they provided me with a customized solution. Mike and Mason provided guidance to my contractor to properly soundproof a shared wall with a neighbor. Mike and Chris also helped to soundproof 3 doors as well as to provide sound dampening solutions.
Not only I am thrilled with the outcome and their excellent level of service but this experience was so pleasant due to their wonderful demeanor and professionalism.
I HIGHLY recommend them to help solve any soundproofing needs you have in NYC and beyond!

I discovered one day while waiting for the elevator in our new home that I could hear our neighbor’s conversation from behind their closed door as clearly as if I were with them in their apartment. I felt certain it must be the same for us. I tested it and unsurprisingly found the exact same results. After some investigation and reading many reviews we called City Soundproofing. A representative, Mike, came by almost immediately and showed us several options. We chose the one that suited our needs and fit our budget. Custom materials were ordered from a manufacturer and shipped directly to us. Mike and a co-​worker followed up promptly and installed the materials quickly and efficiently, consulting me on my preferences for snugness and ease of locking and unlocking throughout their procedure. Mike, who by the way was a very personable, forthright and honest person, had originally said we could look forward to a 50% reduction in sound leakage. We were fine with that initial evaluation, but now are absolutely thrilled to discover that the final outcome is more in the neighborhood of 90%!!! The system we chose, which includes a retractable rubber strip at the base of the door, allows plenty of room for an area carpet in front of the door while completely sealing the gap below. City Soundproofing is such a great company. They solved our sound problem in a timely manner with expertise and courteousness… and at a good price, too!

most residential sound reduction needs can be done by any handy man or dry wall crew. There’s only two ‘soundproofing’ only companies that serve brooklyn. this means supply and demand are hugely off balance.

The solution is to call around to handymen. You’ll want cellulose blown into your walls or ceiling and then a layer of dry wall treated with green glue applied to wall or ceiling. that’s it. ‘green glue’ is a calking application. nasa is not involved.

For a number of years we have had concerns about noise levels on the first floor of our hotel. Some half-​hearted attempts were made to soundproof our main floor guest rooms, but nothing seemed to work. Earlier this year we brought in the guys from City Soundproofing who, without much fuss or muss, soundproofed these troublesome rooms in such a way as to make them super quiet. We found that we could talk right outside the room doors, and no sound could be heard inside.
Prices were reasonable, work was handled in a friendly and efficient manner, and we were totally satisfied with the results. We would unhesitatingly recommend City Soundproofing to any company that has a similar need.

We had an odd noise problem that we couldn’t remedy on our own. Our office’s split A/​C system has three small water pumps embedded in the walls to carry the condensate out from the wall units to the back of the building. Over time they started vibrating louder and louder when they’d come on, which was about every minute or two during summer. We had two A/​C companies try to dampen the noise but one failed and the other estimated it would cost several thousand dollars.
Mason of City Soundproofing came by and in maybe three hours of surrounding them with some sound absorbent material had them so quiet we couldn’t hear them anymore without straining in dead silence! Just amazing.
He also seems really friendly and genuine and takes pride in his work and explaining the issues so that the customer can feel really good about the work and understand the value of what he is doing. I highly recommend him!

City Soundproofing was a pleasure to deal with. Mason couldn’t be friendlier and more accomodating, and more importantly, he works closely with you to determine what you need toi take care of your noise issues. It seemed to me that the prices were quite reasonable. Highly recommended.

This is THE person to call if you want to soundproof your door. I did a lot of research and everything led to Mason. He buys the equipment from the best company and he installs it for you.
He arrived on time and is genuinely a nice guy. Was clear and upfront about costs.
Result: Amazing, i cant hear my neighbors fighting with each other, i cant hear footsteps on the stairs. Unless someone is really shouting, i am sitting watching my movie and forgetting about the outside world

City Soundproofing is one of those rare businesses that gives you exactly what you paid for, and does so on time, with courtesy and good humor, honesty and skill. Mason installed sound-​dampening materials on our front door (we live on the first floor, so there is a lot of noise from the stairs). He showed up to give the estimate on time, he was a really nice, cool guy who was good to be around, and he gave a straight-​up estimate with a clear accounting of the costs. When he came back to do the install, we had the same experience — he arrived on time, he did the work in the amount of time he said it would take, and he was extremely pleasant to deal with. Best of all, of course, is the fact that his installation worked and it looks good.
Ours was a fairly simple job compared to the much more complex stuff City Soundproofing is capable of, but I would not hesitate to call Mason again for more complicated work. And I still might.
