CityMD – Boerum Hill

I went in recently to get checked out when my fever got too high. They were very cordial, they took down my info and i didnt wait longer than 15 – 20 mins to see a doctor. The doctor was thorough, diagnosed me and then prescribed the right medication. I was feeling better within a few days. Definitely recommend this clinic if you need to be seen right away and your primary doc is not available. Thank you City MD for making me feel better so quickly.

I always recommend CityMDs because of their good service and very short wait time. But I will never visit this location again. I’m writing this review incredulously at a LabCorp as I wonder how CityMD managed to waste 2hrs of my time on two separate days. I arrived to get the results of a physical/​titers/​PPD (done at an UWS location 2 days before) read and put on a pre-​employment form, an MMR vaccine, and a scrip for a urine drug screening. It took over an hour and a half to see a doctor. I have never waited more than 15 minutes at any other location to see a doctor. At any other location, I hardly have time to put down my bags before someone calls me in. But this was ridiculous. 15 minutes past arrival, I hadn’t even been registered. Then after 20 minutes into being in the exam room, the medical assistant came in and greeted me with the wrong name. Ugh. I was getting ready to pack my bags and leave entirely when the doctor finally showed up. I am always pleasant in customer care situations, but my body language showed I was clearly annoyed. The doctor definitely noticed, but she didn’t apologize for the wait or anything. I tell her I need a 10 panel drug screening, which was also written on the physical form she filled out. The next day (today) LabCorp tells me that she scrip she wrote is insufficient because it doesn’t specify what panel. So here I am at 10:05 for my 8:30 appointment because CityMD takes an hour and half to fax a correct scrip. Even the woman at the LabCorp counter is getting frustrated and confused as to why I’m waiting that long. First, I was told the fax would be sent «in a few minutes», then «another 10min», then «just 5 more minutes and we’ll call to update you», and then 30min and three phone calls later to CityMD later — the doctor at Boerum Hill finally puts in an order and no one called to update me.
Absolutely ridiculous. Everyone there seems incompetent. This location will surely waste your time. Some other reviews confirm that you can wait up to two hours — never happened to me anywhere else. Won’t return.

Hi, I had the most absolute amazing experience at citymd in boerum hill. I had to go in for something very simple. And everything happened very seemlessly and smooth. Very fast service. Dr Siddiqque was very nice, and made sure I had no other symptoms. I also appreciated that they took the time to confirm my identity by asking for my name and date of birth when I went for an X-​ray or when I was given a flu shot. Will definitely go back.

I read the reviews of this place pretty extensively before going and from what I could gather it seems like a great place to go for an injury (broken bone, stitches, etc), and the absolute worst place to go for any type of illness. Unfortunately, I was in the latter category, and since I had recently moved to the area and didn’t have a PCP yet, I didn’t have much of a choice.
I came in because: A) I needed to get documentation of a TB test since I was starting work in a medical setting, and B) because I was leaving to go to Central America in three days and I had come down with a nasty chest cold and sore throat.
Let’s start with the good parts:
–The front desk staff is really friendly and helpful. The waiting room is clean, and the wait time to get into to see a doctor was less than 30 minutes. I’ve been to walk in clinics where I’ve waited over two hours, so this was pretty awesome.
Unfortunately, the only good part of the experience ended after leaving the waiting room.
Negatives:
–The woman who took me into the exam room was a petite tattooed woman, who was either a PA or an RN. Based on some reviews I read, I’m pretty sure she’s the one everyone else complained about too because she was so hostile and rude right off the bat. She asked why I was here, and I told her I needed a TB test and that I also wanted to get some antibiotics for a chest infection. I began to cough, and she looked up, rolled her eyes and said «Well, that was ‘anticlimatic’». FIRST of all, I’m sorry my cough wasn’t gross enough for you? Secondly, its «anticlimactic», not «climatic». My cough isn’t «anti-​weather», so if you’re going to insult me, at least be accurate about it. She went to go get the doctor. The doctor came in and she was friendly, and administered the TB test immediately, all the while making small talk with me. After the test, she looked concerned and asked me if I was feeling ill. I had been coughing in the exam room and my voice was really hoarse from my sore throat. I replied that, yes, I had a chest cold, and that I had told the PA/​RN that was the main reason I was there. I looked at the surly PA/​RN incredulously and she just smirked and rolled her eyes. The doctor seemed irritated, and quickly listened to my chest, pronouncing that my lungs sounded «ok» and I probably didn’t need antibiotics. She didn’t even bother looking in my throat. I repeated that I was leaving for Central America in a few days and that if it worsened, I would be in a remote area. I also told her I had asthma, and that anytime I had a chest cold it always progressed into bronchitis. She finally begrudgingly agreed to give me a Z-​Pack, which is basically the tylenol of the antibiotic world and not something that you give for respiratory infections.
The day before I left the country I had to go see a «real» doctor, since not only had my cough worsened, but I had developed a fever. The doctor quickly discerned that I had a severe case of bronchitis and put me on the proper antibiotics, but the first few days of my trip were ruined.
If you have a broken finger or need something stitched, then by all means come here. If you’re ill, stay away. Being rude and ignorant is a dangerous combination, and you’re not saving any money if you’re just going to end up having to go to a different doctor for proper treatment.

NEVER GO HERE! I was straight up lied to about the cost and coverage of my routine service. I had to get a routine/​preventive physical exam which is supposed to be 100% covered by my insurance since it’s a routine/​preventive visit (my insurance company confirmed this with me) and CityMD was the closest doctor to me so I went in and asked if I got a routine exam if it would be covered by my insurance here and they looked at my insurance and said «Yes, we’ll book it as preventive and it will be paid for by insurance.» I even confirmed with this with the Doctor I saw and he said it would be totally covered.
To my shock I got a bill for nearly $ 500 a few weeks later for the physical they told me would be covered. I called their billing department and complained that it should’ve been booked as preventive so my insurance would cover it and the woman from billing said «We’re urgent care, we CAN’T book as preventive. The doctor’s there don’t work for your insurance company or billing so they don’t know this stuff. Don’t listen to them.»
EXCUSE ME! I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO TRUST WHAT YOUR STAFF AND DOCTORS TELL ME! RIDICULOUS! NEVER GOING BACK!!!

You are in and out quickly, staff is friendly doctors are really nice as well. The waits are a lot quicker than your normal doctors office.
I mean, you go there, you get a prescription and you are back on the street in 25 minutes.
If it’s life threatening, j would go to a hospital but, for minor stuff this is where my family goes
Update: employee cut herself on the meat slicer. She went over and was back and stitched up in less than 1.5 hours. A hospital would have been at least 4 to 6 hours

I really don’t like giving 1 star reviews, but with exception of helpful receptionists, this place was just all sorts of unprofessional. No soap in the bathroom, doctor walking in on me in my underwear even though I said I was still changing when he knocked, triage nurse forgetting things here and there, doctor prescribing me 2 types of controlled substance medication that according to my pharmacy would be very dangerous if taken together…

Had a sinus infection. Went about 2 years ago with the same thing & they were wonderful, They did not disappoint me this time. Even though many more urgent care centers opened closer to my home I went back to this office out of loyalty…& my loyalty was rewarded. I was seen within minutes of my arrival by a PA. She was lovely — her name is Simone. Then the doctor came in – his name is Henry. I was treated very well. it was all very professional. My prescriptions were phoned into my pharmacy which I picked up on my way home & now I am on the road to recovery. Thanks CityMD-​Boerum Hill.

This is a nice, clean urgent care, and the service is good. However, the charges are insane. I went here to get a birth control prescription right after I moved to New York (because apparently you can’t transfer a prescription from another state here) and I didn’t have a primary care doctor yet. I paid a $ 30 copay which was fine. And I assumed that was the end of that. 4 months later I got a bill in the mail. They charged $ 514. For a new birth control prescription. I talked to the doctor for maybe five minutes. There were no tests, no exams. She simply wrote me a prescription. Which was only 3 months long, because as an urgent care they can’t write anything longer. My insurance covered about $ 300 of the charge, but I was still upset to have this bill show up 4 months later, without warning.

I went in today and saw PA Marsha Dixon. I went in because I was taking a medication for a sinus infection, and developed chest pain and shortness of breath. The PA treated me with an extremely unprofessional manner. She was rude, dismissive, and laughed at me when I said I was having shortness of breath and that my chest hurt. I left the office still in pain and with a tightness in my chest I’ve never experienced before. I ended up going to the emergency room later that evening because I was in extreme pain, and they diagnosed me with a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung), which can be life threatening. I’m glad I didn’t listen to CityMD, because I might have died.

Had a pilonidal cyst lanced he is very good it was done nicely little to no pain… didnt even realized he had cut me and was putting packing… handled that painful cyst very delicately. Right away he started my meds. He is very proactive. Made sure I had a follow up appointment to get a surgeon eval same day. Staff very friendly and helpful for most but one scrib. She was asian girl scrib/​wanna be medical assistant she had a serious attitude problem because i asked her to repeat my B/​P and try both arms since I am Hypertensif and my B/​P was high. She was snappy and nasty! That took away from my almost perfect experience. I am glade she didnt come back in the room for the remaining of the time. Regarless Dr Kahoun was quick effectif and painless.

Wasn’t feeling well and as per a recommendation came here for a checkup since my PCP was not available
Very nice place. Soon as I walked in I was greeted and not even 10 min was called in. The PA was very nice and friendly, she told me what I needed and I was out. Whole process was barely 20 min.
Will def return and highly recommended for urgent care

I came here for STD testing. They collect blood and urine samples (no pelvic exams). Short and sweet. Results were ready on 3^rd day.
Pros:
–Very friendly front desk as well as medical employees.
–Clean bathroom.
Be aware:
wait time can be longer than advertised 10 min. I waited about 50 minutes to see a doctor on Saturday noon, which is not that bad, considering the fact that no appointment is needed, just walk in.

I had a better experience here than I have had with most doctor’s offices, and appointments in NYC. It was clean, everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and empathetic. They got me in and out in less time then it took to get the prescription filled at the pharmacy following the visit.
The thing that stuck out to me most was that I had recently switched employers and was in that short, in-​between, time when you are awaiting your new insurance card. The woman helping me, Crissi, was very understanding and accommodating since it was a Sunday and gave me time to contact my HR department to get the necessary billing information to her, first thing the next morning.
I will not hesitate to return here, if necessary. I definitely recommend.

I’ve gone to a few CityMD’s before and this one has to be the worst. It’s the only one in Brooklyn, which is weird because it’s all the way west. I came because I sustained an electrical burn the day before when I was trying to adjust a fixture in my apartment. Check in process was pretty seamless and wait time was reasonable. It was the nurses and doctors that were the issue. My nurse took the basic information, then left me alone for 20 minutes. She then came back and confirm bits of info that I’d already given her. After 10 more minutes, the doctor came in. Luckily he gave me the good news that it was only a 2^nd degree burn. I asked him about how to treat it, suggesting Silverdine cream which I had been prescribed years ago for a similar injury. He (incorrectly) stated that this wouldn’t treat it. He mentioned taking ibuprofen 2, but I had taken that recently for something unrelated (broken hand) and for whatever reason it doesn’t do much for me when I’m in pain. Since I mentioned I had already taken Vicatin for this since I had it on hand, he said he would prescribe more of that.
Then he disappeared for 20 minutes, returning once in the middle to re-​ask when the last time I was prescribed it was even though I had told him up front that a CityMD had prescribed me some awhile back. The basic notion I got from this and his mannerisms was that he thought I was trying to getting extra pills out of him, even though he was the one who suggested Vicatin in the first place. So he wasted another 20 minutes of time when I had said up front that I needed to be in and out of this place (for like 3 pills no less). After that I went back to the waiting room for an aide to bring me my prescription. I could hear them at the end of the hallway and saw the doctor give the aide my prescription. I then literally watched this guy hold my prescription and talk to his co-​workers for 5 minutes before bringing it over. Saying that the standard of service here is lacking would be an understatement. I do my best to stay away from CityMD as is, and will not be returning to this location if I can at all help it.

I went for a thumb injury and they were amazing. Took my xray and treated my injury by the book. Dr. Passanante was the doctor that treated me and he was kind and extremely knowledgeable. A++

This is the best City MD I’ve been to in NYC! Came here over the summer for a minor foot injury, and was not only seen within minutes, but the nurse that brought me in to do my vitals and take notes was one of the friendliest, sweetest health professionals I’ve met.
The doctor was able to see what happened and give me a temporary treatment and prescription until I could make an appointment with my podiatrist. They had a list of all the nearby pharmacies on file that I could pick to send the Rx to, and I was able to get walking directions from the nurse before leaving.
Best of all, they had freebies at the reception desk! Walked out with a mini first-​aid kit with bandages and neosporin in it, pocket hand sanitizer, and a lollipop!
In and out of here in 15 – 20 minutes, got my Rx right away, and arrived to work on time, bam!

THis place is a godsend. Thank you to whoever is in charge!
Walked in, no appointment, no insurance, was seen within minutes and they gave me antibiotics no extra charge and gave me a coupon for prescription pick up.

This place is a complete joke! I don’t even know how it is considered a medical facility.
I walked in here one night to get a prescription written for me. I have yet to get a doctor in NY and I have a pre-​diagnosed syndrome that sometimes requires medication. Nothing strong, nothing addictive, and nothing highly regulated. It’s actually so humiliating that I whispered to the receptionist why I was there. I did the online check in prior to arriving so I could go in and out. I had another appointment after but my psychiatrist agreed to stay late so I could make this appointments. I made this extremely clear when I showed up to CityMD. They assured me I would be out before 7 so I could make my appointment.
First bad sign: Like I said, I checked in online. They still made me fill out all the paperwork.
Second bad sign: The doctor was wearing a leopard skirt, leather shirt, and bright purple lipstick.
Third bad sign: She told me she loved my shirt. NEVER trust a woman giving compliments.
Fourth bad sign: There was a knock on the door and the doctor let the unknown guy in. IN THE MIDDLE OF MY EXAM.
Fifth bad sign: Me having complete and utter nervous breakdown/​panic attack/​I will rip that leather shirt off moment.
Needless to say, I might have been a little sensitive to the entire situation but this place is not professional. If you are a doctor, with a patient, by no means should you allow someone who knocks on the door in, without the patient’s consent. I think this was the part that really pissed me off. I tried to look past it, but as it became later and later and I kept putting up with BS, I decided to storm out. No prescription, no resolve to my «condition.»
So there I was in the middle of Atlantic Avenue, crying my eyes out in complete panic attack mode. Thankfully, my psychiatrist stayed open late for me.

So what do you do when it’s been a week and you still have cold symptoms? I took my Nyquil, drank several cups of tea a day, called out sick from work and spent an entire day sleeping and I was still coughing.
City MD to the rescue. Between Unilocal reviews and a couple coworkers I had heard great things about their operation. As someone who doesn’t like going to the Dr’s (who does really?) I had my doubts. I’m happy to report that the entire process, from beginning to end was totally painless. Pun intended.
I didn’t bother making an appointment (although you can via their website) and took a chance that there wouldn’t be a crowd. On Wednesday at 5:30pm I was the only one filling out my insurance information. After my paperwork was filled out and confirmed by the receptionist I barely got comfortable in their lovely waiting area before the Dr’s assistant came out and called my name.
The girl who I sat with was so sweet. She asked all the appropriate questions, took my temp, pressure, etc and explained everything as she did it. After we played 20 questions («Do you have a family history of High Blood Pressure?») she told me she would be back in a few with the Dr. 5 minutes later they returned. The good Dr. shook my hand, introduced himself and ran down my list of symptoms. 10 minutes later I had a prescription, instructions and a smile on my face… I was on the road to recovery. No more nasal congestion for this girl!
After the Doc left, his assistant explained that my paperwork was printing up front and the receptionist would discharge me. She wished me a speedy recovery and a good night. So nice!
The gals up front were just as nice and signing out was easy peasy. The entire process– from the time I walked in to the time I walked out was 30 minutes. Amazing.
Not that I am hoping to get sick again (and I certainly don’t wish that upon you either!) but should I catch another cold or whatever I won’t even hesitate to visit CityMD again. Overall it was a great experience, ya know, for being sick and having to go to Urgent Care and stuff.
