Dentist was awesome. Spent significant amount of time with me. I was in a lot of pain and he really comforted me. I got a diagnosis and was prescribed antibiotics that were electronically forwarded to my nearby pharmacy. I had my meds less than an hour later.
Last thing. I have never had a dentist hand me his cell phone number and say «text me» in my life.

I’ve been going to Dr. Loflin for 4 years now and he is as good as it gets. Both he and my hygienists Edyta are professional and caring. I have had cleaning, wisdom removed and invisalign — he is your guy. If there is an issue with booking or coverage the front desk crew is eager to resolve which is refreshing in NYC.

Dr. Loflin, Alma and the front desk crew are the best. Seriously… I moved to the city 5 years ago and was lucky to have found Dr. Loflin through ZocDoc. I have had cleanings, crowns, Invisalign, root canals, you name it — he is your man. I receive appointment reminders and receipts via email. Booking appointments are hassle free. Dr. Loflin is kind, gentle, attentive, personable, knowledgeable, caring, and is always smiling. From day 1 he made me aware that if I ever need anything to contact him and he would make time for me. I have had 1 emergency in 5 years and he fixed me up in a jiffy. Dr. Loflin goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and welcome as a patient, if not a friend, and doesn’t treat you like a number. He actually wants to help you! He is never rushed. Some of the reviews on here say there is a wait to see Dr. Loflin, well, I guess so, he is only 1 man and can only help so many people in a day. Since March I have seen the Dr every 2 weeks for my Invisalign fittings and the Dr. and his team are definitely top notch and the best out there, consistent and they continue to prove it. I am thankful for Dr. Loflin and his team. I THANK YOU you and so do my teeth!

I found Dr. Loflin through Unilocal and was obviously initially skeptical of the reviews.
After spending the last couple of years with Dr. Loflin and his amazing team working through a comprehensive treatment plan (extractions, bone grafts, implants, crowns and a bridge) I can honestly say that this is best professional service I’ve ever had.
Dr. Loflin and his team generously spent the extra time working through a complicated insurance situation with the outmost patience, always keeping me in the loop through the process.
Appointments were always made to best fit my schedule and there was never a feeling of being rushed during the many consultations as the treatment plan constantly evolved.
There is never a day that you look forward to going to the dentist but Dr. Loflin excels at making the experience somehow almost tolerable and humane. Old school bedside manner meets the new century.
Really, stop looking.

If you are looking for a great dentist, Dr. Loflin is the man for you. I have been going to Dr. Loflin for a couple of years now, and each experience has been the best I have ever had. He is kind, caring, and gentle, and, both he and his hygienists Alma are always very professional. From the moment you walk through the doors of their office (located in Midtown), you are greeted with a very friendly, warm and inviting environment and extremely wonderful service.
Look no further for a great dentist than Dr Loflin! If you have to trust someone to work in your mouth, it may as well be him. You will not be disappointed.

If you are looking to get a new crown for your front tooth, Dr. Loflin is your guy. Replacing my crown had become a horror story as the previous dentist spent 4 months trying to match the tooth color. Luckily, I moved to NYC so the former dentist refunded my money and I found Loflin. The biggest difference is Loflin doesn’t send the tooth off to a lab to match the color on a front tooth. According to him, it’s unlikely to get a perfect match and when dealing with your front tooth there is no room for error. So Loflin has a color matcher near his practice that you go see so they match the color in person and not in some faraway lab where they never actually see your teeth. While the tooth wasn’t perfect the first try, it did come out perfect on the second one. And Loflin even changed some aspects I wasn’t thrilled with about the 1^st crown I had — slightly too long and thick.
It’s been over 6 months since I got the crown and I couldn’t be happier with the color, shape and stability of the tooth. I wanted to let some time pass before writing a review and my positive feelings about the tooth and experience have stood the test of time. Thanks Unilocalers for leading me to Dr. Loflin in the first place!

I had a very good experience with Dr Loflin. I’ve seen him twice over the past 2 years and both times his office staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr Loflin himself has a very friendly manner and did a good job.
I also would like to mention that I didn’t have to wait long for my appointments. I hate when you come on time for an appointment and just wait and wait. This was not the case here. I recommend.

I had an appointment at Citi dental group and I think it was the best appointment I’ve ever had! Dr. loflin is so caring and very detailed with his work. The receptionists are friendly and make the whole experience very relaxing. I can’t wait to go back in 6 months!

Had a terrible toothache the night before Thanksgiving and got a last-​minute appointment with Dr. Loflin. Couldn’t have been friendlier or easier. Great dentist and practice– will go back for sure.

Wow. I wasn’t expecting such friendly competent service. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Dr. Loflin is young and super knowledgable and my cleaning with Alma was really through (and didn’t hurt or bleed as it usually does when I get a cleaning).
I am very glad I chose this office. Not a long wait either!

For starters, this single star is aimed at the office in general. When I saw Dr. Loflin he was a great, kind, and caring dentist. The challenge is actually getting to see him. Another challenge relates to the varying level of professionalism and skill of his hygienists and office staff.
I have a cosmetic filling in the upper part of one of my canines that had fallen out. Given that it was in the front of my smile, I wanted to see the Dr. ASAP. When I called for an appointment, I was told the first available was in six-​ish weeks. WHAT?! I can’t see my dentist sooner than that? In a word: no.
I also needed a cleaning, but an appointment for a cleaning wasn’t available for over eight weeks. Again, WHAT?!
Needless to say, I was passed off to Dr. Haldy and, by the time I was seen a couple of weeks after my original call, I had actually lost another cosmetic filling from the side of one of my premolars (bicuspids). And, no, I don’t have candy-​corn teeth and I do take great care of my teeth – it’s just these cosmetic, side o’ the tooth fillings seem to have a relatively short «shelf» life. Anyhoo… after a bit of pushy back and forth with the assistant re: xrays (I didn’t want them because I decided to find a dentist who a) had the time to see me relatively quickly should the need arise and b) was closer to my home in Wburg – which I shared with the hygienist; also, c) I didn’t need them because no cleaning or indepth exam was scheduled and the repairs I sought were both superficial, non-​cavity based, cosmetic repairs). I had seen Dr. Haldy previously when I held a different insurance, and I thought she was great, but on this occasion her dental work struck me as subpar. The edges of both of these side-​of-​the-​tooth fillings were rough and quickly began to catch food. Not too mention that I found a good bit of hardened filling material lodged between my teeth when I arrived home.
It bears mentioning that these weren’t the only issues I had in this office. During one x-​ray inclusive visit, the assistant tried and failed THREE times to take one film. Part of the problem was that the xray device would droop (e.g. point at my shoulder/​chest) after she adjusted it. I pointed this out once I noticed it, but I shouldn’t have to point out such glaring discrepancies in my care. Regardless, I put a stop to more attempts after her several failed ones. Fortunately, the images she did get, coupled with those on file, were adequate for my care on this occasion.
Two other times I was overbilled for services (one of which involved the above-​mentioned fillings). Each time I was eventually reimbursed, but it took a good bit of time and effort on my part to receive said reimbursements. Dr. Loflin is an in-​network provider on my insurance and that means he accepts a specific fee for his services. Regardless, the office charges «standard» fees and, when I caught this I pointed it out. I was summarily told that «I was charged the correct amount and that my bill was closed.» Obviously I didn’t settle for that, pointed out their discrepancies utilizing my insurance-​specific information and, several calls and many weeks if not months after the fact, was finally refunded my money.
All things considered, I’m happy to say I found a great dentist in my own ‘hood who, during a pleasant, cleaning-​centric visit, corrected the rough edges of my above-​mentioned fillings (free of charge).
BOTTOM LINE: The upside is that Dr. Loflin is a great dentist. The downside is that he’s über-​busy and, without booking many weeks/​months in advance, you likely will be passed off to another dentist who may or may not be as great. Also, check your bills against your insurance to make sure you’re not overpaying for this office’s services!

Now that I’ve moved out of NYC to CA and changed dentists, I realize how good I had it with Dr. Loflin.
I had my share of cavities, root canals, etc in my 3 years as a patient with Dr. Loflin. 3 things I took for granted:
(1) opinion/​bedside manner — maybe it’s new yorkers versus californians, but I want my dentist to be very clear and communicative about his opinion on which option I should proceed with. My current dentist in CA presents multiple options after which I ask many more questions, he insinuates one option might be better than the other, and ultimately I don’t feel 100% assured of my choice. Dr. Loflin on the other hand always clearly discussed my options with me and helped me choose the best one given my insurance. Any choice felt like a sound one where the tradeoffs were clear, but all outcomes would be fine. His team at the front desk was totally on top of the insurance piece too.
(2) modern dentistry tools — not just the TV’s, but everything he uses is state of the art. I undervalued this until today when I had to get a cavity redone bc they needed to order a new tool to reshape my tooth correctly bc it was a side-​of-​the-​tooth filling (I’m prone to these type of fillings).
(3) nothing he ever did hurt — he isn’t stingy with the painkiller. Only dentist I’ve ever had where I didn’t have to raise my hand mid-​drill and tell them «I can still feel it!»
Go with Dr. L. If you switch dentists later in life, you’ll see why!

I was having pain in one of my lower teeth & visited dr loflin’s office where I was treated for a root canal right away. I felt very comfortable during the procedure. After the root canal, I was treated with dr. Loflin for a crown. I was really pleased with results and would be coming back for my dental cleaning. The whole staff including the assistance were very professional.
Highly recommend this practice.

About two years ago, a dentist told me that I had 14 cavities. Another dentist (two days later) told me I that had 8 cavities. After an initial period of confusion about who to trust, I eventually realized that the first dentist was trying to fill every little not-​even-​yet-​a-​problematic-​cavity (while claiming that all the fillings were urgent), while the second dentist was only filling what needed to be filled at the time (and keeping an eye on the others).
Since then, it’s been very important for me to see a dentist who I can trust, and who can clearly explain his/​her plan of action. I just saw Dr. Loflin for the first time, and I feel great about my visit. I’m definitely planning to see him regularly.
Here’s what was awesome:
* Everyone was super friendly and welcoming; and while that doesn’t tell me much about the quality of care, it definitely feels nice! Literally, everyone: the receptionists, x-​ray technician, hygienist, and Dr. Loflin.
* The hygienist was extremely knowledgeable. She answered a ton of questions I had about oral health, and educated me on various different topics.
* Dr. Loflin was very helpful in explaining the current state of my mouth, how it got that way, and what I should do about it. He patiently answered a number of questions I had, and even opened up his email to review some x-​rays I had sent him (from a previous dentist).
* Dr. Loflin offered to clean my mouth guard, and even threw in this comment: «If anything goes wrong [with the mouth guard cleaning], it’s on me.»
* Their pricing is very straightforward, which is refreshing.
Despite having two cavities to fill in a few weeks, I walked out of the office feeling happy (and relieved): that I had found a great dentist, and wouldn’t have to bounce around NYC getting second opinions.
