I like real food.
I tend to be one of those label readers, who values quality ingredients I can recognize over those like propylene glycol, which is non deadly antifreeze we still probably shouldn’t be digesting. I am however, a realist, and the food industry is unfortunately infiltrated with people who don’t care about quality and its effects (and I did grow up on fast food, even though my mother suddenly swears she didn’t force feed it to me)…so I don’t get crazy. I’m very capable of eating ample hills ice cream every day. I guess I’ll stop preaching.
I’ve never fully examined Cultures’ ingredients list, although I’d love to the next time I stop by.
However, the employee offered a full run down of their philosophy in reflecting the best practices of yogurt-​making and pastry by using local Hudson Valley milk and Organic Valley whole milk, in addition to their cultured probiotics.
The effort is reflected in its product, as the yogurt is creamy, smooth and tart. (It has seasonal/​various flavors that are pretty impressive. I liked the mint and the strawberry passionfruit). They have artisanal toppings, to lower the nutritional value, but greatly increase your pleasure. Even the syrups are house made such as the gooey caramel.
I also appreciate that they put the toppings both on the bottom and top of the cup, so you can have a good bite every time. They clearly care about us ;) In regards to the price, you pay for quality ingredients. What can we do?

Like other reviews say this place is way less sweet and much more creamier than other fro yo places. (brownie points for this diabetic). They have seasonal flavors that change, make sure you see that the flavors are on the wall.
I ordered the Nutella fro yo which was amazing and my friends both ordered the mint with chocolate chip & oreo toppings each. My Nutella once was perfect, the Nutella perfectly sweetened the fro yo, my friends loved their mint fro yo but it might have been just a tad too bitter.
If you’ve ever had those Korean (or Japanese?) mini yogurt bottle things, it tastes exactly like that. It has a slightly sour and subtly bubble taste.
I love the interior of the place, I think it is very cozy and a great place to catch up with friends.
Star off for price and not very friendly counter service.

This is REAL frozen yogurt.
It doesn’t need to be summer to have this… nope good all year round.
The granola, is out of this world (they make it in house as well)
**Christmas Seasonal — try the egg nog it’s seriously good.

Having been to the the Park Slope OG years ago, finally stopped in during lunch… The $ 5.99 medium ($ 5.39 after NYU or Village Alliance 10% discount) took a bit to prepare because they were apparently fresh off inspection, but the staffer made friendly conversation during the wait. Blueberry pie & cinnamon with (too-​large chunks of) oatmeal cookies (they were out of a lot of flavors and toppings, apparently due to said inspection).

Perhaps I tasted a bad batch, but the frozen yogurt I had (plain flavor) did not have any distinctive taste which at least would partially justify the price. In addition, it provided me a lovely case of food poisoning :/​I won’t be going back, but the young man who served me was very nice and helpful! He gave me a thumbs up about my selection of toppings.

This is the best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had. I got the original with strawberries and mochi. The homemade yogurt is creamy and delicious. The server put toppings both below and above the frozen yogurt, which I appreciated. A small is about the same price as Pinkberry, even a bit cheaper since Pinkberry has increased it’s prices. You get more toppings too. (At the Pinkberries I go to, they give very unreasonable amounts.)
I always crave frozen yogurt from Culture, and prefer it over any other frozen yogurt chain/​store. The place is never crowded when I come, which is great. I definitely recommend coming here.

Best frozen yogurt! They even add the toppings above and below the yogurt. The plain is so tasty, I find it difficult to choose a seasonal flavor. Good thing I found this place before this endless summer. Glad I don’t live above this place — I’d have to open a tab. They do breakfast, dessert and are now found at Whole Foods.

Their froyo has a distinct taste that sets them apart from regular froyo chains like pinkberry or red mango. It tastes a little more sour than usual, but that’s because it’s the real deal. You don’t get to fill up your own cup, but the cashier does it for you instead and you just have to tell them what toppings you want after that.
Nevertheless, it is slightly more pricey than other types of froyo because you’re paying for authentic stuff here.

Heaven! Every flavor that I have tried has been oh so yummy with a hint of tartness. I love the fact that the milk is from local farms. They’re very generous with the amount of yogurt you get, even if you order the kids size. I really feel like I get my money’s worth because of that. A treat during my lunch breaks!

A few years ago, I made frozen yogurt, reducing the sugar and thinking I had a tangy, refined product. Sis took a lick and shrieked, «it tastes like baby’s vomit». Happily, Culture’s yogurt will only evoke oohs and ahhs. Made from locally sourced milk from small farms, Culture’s frozen yogurt is pennultimate artisanal yogurt, tangy, with just the right amount of tartness, and flavors that shine. The mouth feel of the frozen yogurt is superb, smooth, but different than the froyo from a 16 Handles, a Red Mango. This yogurt is far above in quality, in both the regular and frozen yogurt. Once lick will prove that Culture isn’t using flavor powders mixed with milk. The coconut passion fruit had such an intense passion fruit flavor I doubted they used anything but the real juice, or pulp. It overwhelmed the coconut flavor but I wasn’t complaining, merely savoring. The pistachio I tasted had a more subtle flavor, but still it punched through the creamy acidity of the yogurt. Having made pistachio ice cream before, I knew Culture took the time to infuse the base with real pistachios, and not just use extract. Culture’s price reflects its quality. Priced higher than other standard froyo places, this yogurt is worth it if you want a true homemade yogurt made honestly. You get one topping for free. A medium regular yogurt sets you back approximately $ 6.50 after tax. And it’s a medium on the smallish side. Organic yogurt, if I remember, is $ 1 more. The froyo cone $ 3.50 on the smaller side. It melts quickly so lick fast because you don’t want to lose one drop of this precious yogurt. I had my cone with dark chocolate sauce drizzled on. Culture is a small storefront, with a few wooden tables on the left side and a glass window behind the counter showing you where the yogurt is made. The ambience is rustic with its beaten wooden slab walls, with a blackboard on the right indicating the daily flavors. The counterman was quite proud of the yogurt machine too. A friendly bloke, as soon as I entered he indicated the huge machine behind him in an immaculate kitchen, protected behind bullet glass. Bulletproof glass? I guess if you make yogurt this amazing, you know some avid yogurt eaters might consider holding you up for your machine and trade secrets.

I thought the frozen yogurt craze was slowly winding down. I guess not.
My blueberry flavored frozen yogurt tasted like real blueberries. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used real blueberries. So thumbs up on the flavor. However I didn’t like its texture because it was too icy and not enough creamy.
While most of their business seems to be frozen yogurt they also sell regular Greek style yogurt. I think I might try that next time. Personally I’m sort of done with the frozen yogurt craze.

I had a custom yogurt with plain yogurt, flaxseed meal. It was a beautiful creation. With a creamy consistency and slight tartness to it, it was literally like frozen soft serve yogurt! It had a light sweet touch to it.
My dad had a oatmeal cookie sandwhich with the same– plain frozen yogurt in the center. The sweet chewiness of the cookie which was moist and the tart plain flavor of the frozen yogurt complimented each other very very well.
I can’t wait to go back when it’s warmer out!

The hype is real. Great froyo if you’re into the tart stuff.

Love it here! So many amazing combos are possible! The chocolate froyo is so so good! I love to get chocolate froyo with raspberry sauce and oatmeal cookie crumbles. Great products!!!

The froyo here is really good, especially if you like tart froyo. I find that a lot of tart froyo tends to be too icy, but at Culture it’s simultaneously tangy and creamy, kind of like Greek yogurt. The servers are all so enthusiastic and more than happy to give you samples of whatever flavor you want to try!
I got a small nutella and original froyo with raspberries (the first topping is free!) for a little over $ 5. Definitely pricey, but I don’t mind paying for the quality. The tartness and the nutella contrasted really nicely!
They switch flavors every 2 – 3 days/​whenever a batch runs out, and I can’t wait to come back to try their other flavors. If you like froyo or yogurt in general, definitely try Culture!

Tried Culture’s frozen yogurt after a friend suggested it. It is delicious — much creamier than most frozen yogurts and also although «frozen» still has the authentic taste of Greek yogurt. Tried the raspberry flavor and it was excellent. Toppings were interesting and unique as well.
However, what I love most about Culture is the tiny jar of goodness I found tucked away in one of the store’s refrigerators. There sat a small glass jar of «yogurt with sumthin’ special» as the label described it.
I bought two jars of the yogurt — one mixed with maple and walnuts, the other mixed with key lime custard. Both were fantastic and perfect for breakfast or dessert. The size looks small but the thickness of the yogurt made it quite filling. Apparently these little jars are currently only sold in store or in one Whole Foods in NJ, but hopefully will soon be sold everywhere! Try to get your hands on some if you can!

This is probably the best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had. I love the Original Flavor, because it’s tart, creamy, and just so rich and delicious. It actually tastes like a hybrid between frozen yogurt and soft serve. The prices are kind of steep, but you’re paying for quality here and also quantity. No, they don’t give you a boatload of frozen yogurt, but they don’t do that thing Pinkberry does where the center of your froyo is missing or they just give you very little and charge you $ 6. Here, they actually give pretty generous portion sizes without any trickery.
All the toppings sounds so amazing, fresh, and delicious. I got a small original with strawberries, strawberry purée, and oatmeal cookies. I also tried a sample of the Lychee flavor froyo, which was just amazing. I love Lychee, and their froyo really captured its true flavor. Two thumbs up. This place rocks.

Not going to lie, I am a teeny bit turned off by its décor, or the lack thereof. There are plenty of seats, including windows seats that let you people-​watch the great wanderers of West Village’s 8^th Street. But other than the ample seating, the space seems unfinished and unkempt– almost as though they weren’t done with renovations.
I tried samples of a few of their frozen yogurt flavors, and decided to stick with their original flavor because I wanted something TART, and the original flavor was VERY TART.
The other flavors, such as the cookies & crème and blueberry, were definitely a lot creamier but less sweet than that of the competition’s at Pinkberry and 16 Handles. How is that possible?! I will never know! But the frozen yogurt is a much natural Greek Yogurt consistency, since they do not use artificial ingredients and enhancers.
I’ll definitely be back with the peace of mind, knowing that Culture An American is the healthier, tastier, better frozen yogurt option in the neighborhood.

Try the cherry pistachio and strawberry basil swirl soft-​serve flavor, if chocolate is not available. Dressed up with crumbled graham crackers, it’s good enough to compete with any ice-​cream sundae in town.
