Cure Thrift Shop

I really wanted to get something from Cure because it’s a great cause and the prices are out of this world. However, I just couldn’t find anything today. A lot of the clothes seemed to be poor quality or fit oddly. If you are looking for a plain, casual top, some cool belts, scarves, or pants it could be worth a trip. There were also lots of short kind of baggy jackets. Just don’t expect too much.

The absolute best ever! If Macklemore came here, he’d be way too busy actually poppin’ tags and getting incredible value out of his $ 20 to sing a catchy tune.
First off, amazing stuff in here. The shop also runs really, really competitive sales and specials pretty often. Everything I chose today was well worth the sticker price, and they were offering 50% off on top of it. All the clothes, shoes, and accessories, pretty much only excepting the $$$$ genuine leather/​fur coats. Think BCBG for $ 5 – 20, lots of real leather, cashmere and silk items for $ 10 – 20, etc. This is a great place to go if you know how to identify quality over brands, and especially if you enjoy upcycling clothing into new looks.
Second of all, all proceeds from their stock (which is 100% donated — yay) goes directly to research for diabetes. How great is that? I’m never taking anything to Goodwill again… as long as I live in this city, anyway.

Best thrift spot in NYC for me. Beyond the fact that its for charity the selection is amazing and fairly priced. The staff is really friendly and sweet rather then too cool for school rockers like many thrift spots ive been too. Keep doing what you do Cure…

Cure is the only place I donate my clothes and jewelry. They have great sales and exist for a purpose. Definitely one of my favorite second-​hand stores in the city.

I went in expecting redonculous prices and was greeted with a super friendly welcome. I was told that everything in the store was 50% off for the day and went to town. I found Banana Republic, Ann Taylor tops and dresses for 4 – 5 dollars. Staff was extremely helpful and amiable. Stop in everyday to see if it’s the one you save big bucks!

Friendly & cute staff but all items are way over priced for thrift, imo.
Brands like Banana Republic & Ann Taylor Loft & Free people are $ 20+. Tons of used F21 at $ 5. Why would anyone want to buy anyone’s used F21?
Found a very well made crop top amidst bunch of $ 8 Bebe & H&M tops — asking price is $ 40. Mind you, the label had been cut off so there’s no way of knowing if its designer or not.
A gorgeous all sequin vintage black top, lined in silk, made in China sells for $ 150. You can find similar vintage sequin tops on eBay for less than $ 30 shipped to your door, or at say T Burch for $ 100+ brand new, when they are running a sale.
Fall is closing in i did carefully sift through their sweater selections.
Plenty of beat up, faded, pilling 100% acrylic abominations sell for $ 20+.
A label-​less sweater, in GUC, made in China of cashmere & angora blend sells for $ 80.
Whoever priced these items knows his brands & material very, very well — good for them but it’s not a thrift shop when they make it near impossible to find a deal.
Compare 2 cute BR button downs for $ 40 here; to my local goodwill where I found two shirts (Faconnable & Ralph Lauren purple label) for $ 16. It’s a no brainer — i can do without the folksy music and eye candies. ;)

I love this place. I came in the other day after wanting to come for a long time. I was in the area so I decided to stop by. They welcomed me with a warm hello & telling me that everything in the store was 50% off! I guess they are trying to get rid of what they have now to stock up on winter fashion. I totally took advantage of their offer and bought several items. It is my favorite thrift shop in NYC. You can really find some steals at this place. I absolutely love it! Great quality stuff at a great price. I will definitely be back.

My cousin and I had time to kill before a show at Webster Hall and happened to come across this place. This is more than just a thrift store, it’s a hidden gem. Clean, unique, and friendly staff. Everyone was greeted upon walking in. All the clothing looks very lightly used to new. Cool and unique home items, I just wish there were more home goods! They take pride in their store. Great wall décor and even the ceilings were cool (see photos.) Found a really cool necklace and am kicking myself for not buying it, but I never wear necklaces so it would’ve just hung on my jewelry stand.
Better then any Thrift Store I’ve ever been too. (Cleanliness, nice items, and friendly staff. Things that you normally don’t find in a Thrift Store.)

Beautifully organized and selected, top-​notch vintage. The good stuff is upstairs, pricier than the random junk at a Goodwill and well worth the money, there are things here you will find nowhere else. Downstairs is more like a typical consignment shop, but the goods are still high-​quality, clean, curated, and thoughtfully arranged. The overall stock is relatively small and selective.
The three dressing rooms are neat and reasonably spacious. Besides groovy clothes they have kitchenware, clocks, and a few choice knick knacks. Staff is happy, awake, and attentive. Worth a regular visit.

This is a really cute place with tons of clothes. The sizes are a bit hard to find though which makes it a bit difficult to sift through everything they have. The range is huge however which is really nice because you could find something new every day.

We came when they were having a 40% sale on clothes, shoes, and accessories and wow did we find some great stuff for CHEAP!
The clothes were already very decently priced for a NYC thrift shop, but with the sale they were dirt cheap! I ended up leaving with 4 shirts for $ 12. What a steal!

The setting is cute, it gives a 80s-​90s vibe. The decorations make the atmosphere really fun. But this place is nothing like a thrift shop aside from the fact that their clothing is extremely old. It is way too expensive, average stuff ranging in the $ 20s and some shoes and jackets over $ 100. Nothing like a thrift shop price. You can literally walk into a store and buy brand new clothing for the same price. At that rate, it doesn’t do any good if they say all proceeds go to benefit diabetes.

The staff is so helpful and friendly. I found so many treasures I had to call Über to take me home. Well worth the trip

This is a super great thrift store — plenty of cute things that are well organized and priced.
I only checked out the upstairs, but managed to buy a nice tee for $ 8. Was pleased at how easy it was to browse the racks! Great finds for a great cause.

I have bought quite a few items at this shop for the past 2 years, they were very reasonably priced.
Although recently, I’ve been checking in, and I’ve noticed that they have been charging upwards $ 100 for extremely used items. There was a Diesel jacket for men in there that would normally cost $ 120, it was used in very used condition for $ 100. Just because it’s a name brand (somewhat an extinct name brand at that,) doesn’t mean the price should be near retail.
There’s tons of price ups in there, they mask them with «sales» that make them still somewhat expensive for their condition they are usually in. I find that to be absurd, when just a few months ago, I bought a very good condition pair of Vans sneakers in there for $ 16, which would now probably be $ 60.
I understand that there’s a rent problem in NYC, but I don’t own the store and the customers don’t either, so that’s not our problem. I just hate it when stores around here do that these days.
All shop owners should know the consequences. I do thrift shop reviews for a few sites, and I guess this is one I have to rub off of the list.
There’s a vintage shop on 9^th street between 1^st and A that has fabulous men and womens clothing, mostly from Europe at less than half the price for extremely high quality vintage wear. And they aren’t even donated.

Was on my way to Buffalo Exchange when I passed by Cure and I’m really glad I went in. Let me preface this by saying, when I went, everything was 50% off, so I’m not sure if I would’ve enjoyed it as much if it wasn’t…
The prices were fairly reasonable. I say «fairly» because while some items were good deals, like J. Crew Blazers for 30 $, others, not so much, like an H&M dress for 20… uhm what? Pretty sure that’s above its retail value. Yeah, so like any thrift store, you’ll have to devote a little time to sifting through everything and finding those gems. After some time, I found two great pieces (one in the men’s section), and only paid a total of 18 $.
What I really liked was that it didn’t have that disorganized and disorienting feeling a lot of thrift stores have (cough, Buffalo Exchange, cough). There aren’t too many people inside and the clothes aren’t stuffed onto the racks making it difficult to search properly. Go when there’s a sale and prepare to spend a little time and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I don’t get why this has such high praise. Everything is so overpriced for the quality. Much cheaper vintage is available nearby. It’s a great cause, but the prices just ain’t right. Saw «report» boots which are a low end brand going for $ 100… Yeah no thanks.

This is my new favorite thrift shop. I’m so glad I happened to walk past it!
First of all, they were having a huge sale. This made items that would have been a decent deal at their marked price, for example a royal blue Ann Taylor dress marked $ 22, a really really great deal (75% off of 22, so $ 5.50). So as a note to any Unilocalers who have found the prices unreasonable, I do not believe this is the case. All the merchandise appeared to be in excellent condition, and the staff seemed very friendly and helpful.
When the cause is truly important to the owner and to the staff of a non-​profit, it shows. This place really gives me a good feeling. I hope the cure for type 1 diabetes is not too far off! At least by shopping here we are doing our part to support the research.

Awesome thrift shop! Ended up here after we found a great parking spot right out front. So we came by to check it out after lunch.
The 50% off everything sign is what really got us in the door. Took a little digging, but I found 4 great pieces. Three of which were probably from the same person’s closet haha. The price I paid is still less than the retail value of one of the pieces! So happy with this find.
Not only does this thrift store have great prices, the proceeds go to a great cause. Will be bringing by my clothes and probably shopping some more.
