I have been going to Astor Medical Group to see Dr. Kim for at least 5 years, and I am very pleased with Dr. Kim’s professionalism and care.
Prior to seeing Dr. Kim, I had been seeing a doctor for over 15 years, but owing to her retirement, I asked my long-​term doctor to recommend a physician, and she gave me the name of one whom I subsequently found to be inadequate. After going through 2 more doctors after that, and not being happy with my experiences, I asked a friend of mine for a recommendation, and my friend informed me about Dr. Kim. Having had underwhelming results with the other doctors I had seen previously, I was not expecting to find one as good as the doctor I had been seeing for over 15 years, but I came to see Dr. Kim with an open mind.
I would like to believe that actions speak louder than words, and that my having been with Dr. Kim for this length of time is my implicit endorsement of the quality of health care Dr. Kim extends to me.
I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Kim to all of my friends.

I don’t care what others have written which, BTW, is 5 years old. Maybe he’s contracted dementia or similar since then. This guy is dangerous, unbalanced and needs to be stopped from practicing medicine. Maybe flipping burgers would suit him — but I’m not sure he is qualified for that.
FYI, Stephanie (appt desk) is very professional. Get a job somewhere else.
The phlebotomist is hostile and argumentative. That should have been a red flag. Along w/​the fact that there are barely any patients waiting to see him. BIG WARNING: if a doctor’s office in NYC isn’t busy, leave at once!
Kim is a mess. He told me to come in for a certain blood test; no appt needed. I showed up. Wrong! That blood test had to be scheduled in the morning and with fasting. He apologized. (He apologizes a lot.)
Made an appt for a full battery of blood tests and had them performed. Said, «I will phone you next week.» An entire business week passed; no contact. I sent him a msg on his portal calling him «a disgrace.» He phoned Monday morning and said that my msg was «aggressive.» I told him it was insulting. He couldn’t even get that right. To not phone a patient about results of important tests is malpractice.
His response? Are you ready?
«Well, you didn’t go to the cardiologist!» Is this tit for tat? The cardiologist (whom I know) is 2 floors above his office. I went there right after I left Kim’s office. Not one day, but two days for an EKG and an ultrasound. I phoned the cardiologist’s office and was told THEY SENT HIM THE RESULTS as soon as they were available.
Recap: he told me to come to his office w/​out an appt for no reason; he never phoned w/​test results; he blamed me for not going to a cardiologist (which I did) because he did not get their tests results (which they sent him).
Blaming, incompetent, unreliable, irresponsible and childish. Isn’t that exactly what you want in a physician?
I am reporting him to the state licensing board. Nothing will happen, but it will go on his record. Avoid like the plague. Consider yourself warned.

The office is very clean and well run. The assisting staff is efficient and helpful. If you are sick they take you the same day. Dr. Kim is very professional and caring and offers a portal where you can send him emails for non urgent communication (he is not locked in an Ivory Tower like some doctors are). I highly recommend him and his staff.

I had the goal to seek out a doctor with whom I could see myself having a long term doctor/​patient relationship. After searching on Unilocal,I found Dr. Kim’s good reviews and the already 2 experiences with his office have held up to the 5 star standard! He’s thorough and professional. The wait was very short and the reception staff is extremely nice. I’m very happy I chose Dr. Kim as my primary care doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kim at Astor Medical Group since 2004. Faced with a series of life challenges both medical and personal, Dr. Kim has been a guide in my life and provided me excellent care. I was stunned when my first appointment lasted more than 30 min and included detailed questions and conversation about my life unrelated to medical issues. I have never met a doctor or any health care professional who cared more for me as a person. Stories of my great treatment has lead to 9 of my closest friends friends and colleagues to also choose Dr. Kim as their primary care physician. Astor Medical is run very well, when having an appointment I have never waited more than 10 min to see Dr. Kim, only once did I have a billing issue which was resolved easily, I have never had a problem getting referrals, prescription re-​fills, or talking to Dr. Kim when I had a question or concern.

I have known Dr. Kim since he opened his frist practice on Layfayette in the late 90s. He is a consumate professional, and one of those rare doctors that actually cares more about you than your insurance. His office is expertly run, you are never left waiting. If your appointment is for 2pm, the nurse is calling your name at 2pm. I have had the nightmare of sitting in other doctors’ offices for HOURS before they care to show up. In my 10 years of seeing Dr. Kim, I have NEVER waited more than 15 minutes past my appointment time for intake. He is a conservative doctor, he won’t push pills, and always takes your opinion on things into consideration, a true Doctor/​Patient relationship. I moved from New York two years ago, and my relationship with Dr. Kim is what I miss the most. I have yet to find a doctor here that matches the professionalism shown by Dr. Kim, he is a real gem!
