A million points for the customer service!
After an embarrassingly long hiatus from professional hair maintenance, I decided to try Delluva after seeing a super cute cut on Stephanie J. I made an appointment with Lifebooker for Friday afternoon initially, but changed it to Thursday after something came up last minute making Thursday preferable. Due to a conflict between Lifebooker and Delluva’s own system, my appointment was made in error and I received a call shortly thereafter from the salon asking if I could change my appointment back to its original date. I believe I was speaking with the owner of the salon and I was struck by her apologetic manner. It certainly wasn’t her fault that technology failed, but her niceness made me feel a lot better about going back to my original appointment.
When I got to the salon the next day, I was excited that La Re was cutting my hair, since she is the stylist who cut Stephanie’s. When she said she liked my length, I knew we were on the same page. She was so sweet and asked all the right questions that I knew I could relax in her hands. We women know how crucial it is to trust the person who’s got your hair in their hands and I completely trusted La Re and her judgment. I was not disappointed. (I especially appreciated the little touches like the massage chair at the shampooing sink.) She gave me a great cut and convinced me to come in again for highlights. I’d been thinking about making some drastic changes to my hair so I figured now would be the perfect time.
La Re is only in Saturdays and Sundays and I wanted to come in the first Saturday she had available which happened to be the next day. I was unavailable Sunday and the next weekend, but La Re was booked solid all day Saturday. The owner and La Re looked at the schedule together and found a way to squeeze me in. I really appreciated the above and beyond effort since I wanted to get my hair all finished before flying out of town this weekend.
They’re also having a spring cleaning sale which means 50−75% off their products so I’d definitely suggest getting down there for an appointment.

Horrible manicure experience. Total rip off. First the attendant attacked my cuticles with what seemed like a cheese grater and really ripped them up (hope she sterilized the thing!) After she applied the color she seemed eager to get rid of me and insisted the nails were dry when they still looked wet. When I reached into my purse to hand her money, half the polish came off my index finger. She insisted it was perfectly fine and wouldn’t repair it. It was the first thing someone noticed at the party later that night. Even the Yuya places are better.

I’m not into spa treatments or whatnot, but received a gift card for delluva by my bf. We went for the couple’s massage session (deep tissue massage).
The spa was very nice, but then again, I can’t compare it to any other place, because I haven’t been to another one in the city. The massage room was dimly lit by numerous candles, and the atmosphere was very relaxed-​soothing. The massage tables were almost like a bed (with lots of sheets on it).
The massage was nice, but I was expecting something stronger. When he asked me my preference, I said «deep», and since he’s a guy, so I thought deep would be enough. Well, it wasn’t, and I didn’t mention anything to him during the massage. I thought I’d have the knots in my neck and shoulder out, but they weren’t. I just felt a bit more relaxed than the day before, and that was about it.
The hour long massage didn’t feel that long, but the «relaxation lounge» after the massage was a nice place. We spent some time to just lounge around in our robes on the comfy sofa chairs, eating nuts and dried fruits, sipping some wine.
I wouldn’t have come here if I had to pay myself. I’m more of a hard-​core massage girl, I like it when the massage makes me actually Unilocal in pain. (That way, I feel like I’m getting some work done on my knotted muscles.)

I have been here numerous times for everythign from waxing to pedi mani’s to full massage. It is a beautiful and relaxing space with a professional and wonderful staffy. I highly suggest this for anyone interested in a little pampering — and you can’t beat pampering… WITH WINE.

They were running a special in December so I tried a massage.
The red wine theme runs thru-​out with the red wine color and dark wood everywhere. The relaxation room was very nice: cushy chairs, water, wine, some trail mix, coffee, tea, biscotti.
The massage table was motorized — neat. My masseuse Michelle H. was great. I would have liked to have the massage oils mostly wiped off with some damp hot towels towards the end but maybe they don’t do that. There was a hot towel element, but it was part of the massage, not for oil removal. I could have just showered after, but I liked the smell so I just left it.
No steam room here and the locker area is pretty small, but everything was very nice. Come early to pre-​relax before your massage or whatever. They play XM Spa, which was nice.
Not sure if I would pay full price for this massage, but they have some other wine-​themed treatments that sound unique and interesting.

I decided to give myself a recent Birthday treat and I sought out a NYC
spa that had at least reasonable fees for a 1 hour massage. With the 20% off discount I received for visiting Delluva on a weekday my massage came to $ 100. The day I arrived, a Thursday afternoon, the spa was quiet and I had what I am assuming to be the men’s locker room to myself.
It seemed nicely appointed if slightly on the small side but quite clean.
I was led into a massage room by Michele, my masseuse. The room itself was mellow and the table cozy. The massage itself I would rate 3.5 stars as M. definitely did her job but she certainly didn’t blow me away. A little more focus on back and shoulders and no neck twisting at the end of the session would have made it great.
At the conclusion of the service I was led into the relaxation room where I lounged in my pleasant bathrobe and sipped wine and Perrier. I had an opportunity to chat with an attractive young woman who had just completed her session at Delluva and we ended up spending the remainder of the afternoon and the entire evening together. A nice touch to a NYC Birthday.

So thanks to a very sweet new friend, I was given a nifty little gift certificate on
and was basically told to book whatever I wanted. Can you say Woohoo??? I can.
And so I jumped on Lifebooker and of course cross referenced the listings with my fellow reviewers on Unilocal and found that 2 others had raved about this place and that was enough for me, especially when the menu I was reading was dangling the 90 minute massage carrot in front of me!
I then hopped in a cab and headed to Tribeca to breathe for 90 minutes, plus hold my breath for an hour long facial. When I arrived, I instantly liked it. I mean, c’mon, wine and rubdowns? Most of the dates I end up paying for don’t go that well. I was then greeted by some friendly faces and asked to fill out an SAT exam. Kidding, but damn, this thing was long and asked just about every question under the sun, but I loved the fact that they were that thorough to ensure that the experience was just to my liking.
And let’s just talk about that experience, shall we. The place is really pretty and they did a great job incorporating the wine themes with the relaxation elements. Rooms are called things like Rioja and they even serve you just that, along with a white and some bubbly if you are so inclined… and you know I am!
It was then time for the rubdown. The 90 minute rubdown with Julia. Sigh. When I entered the room it was sooo pretty and I loved the little rock garden meets wood vibe they have going and the massage bed was super comfy and the net they put over the face plant hole was comfy (I’m sure that’s an actual massage term, right?). Hey, not all places have the comfy ones, so it was much appreciated. What was also much appreciated were her smooth as glass and almost velvet hands. My oh my, I didn’t know skin could be that soft. It was kinda magical. Because of that, I almost fell asleep a few times, so yay and yay.
After my relaxing session, I was taken to the facial room and Chi worked her magic on my, apparently clocked up, face. Who knew, but I will say this. I have had extracting facials done before and I have cried like a baby during them because they hurt so damn bad, but Chi was so delicate and smooth that only once did I flinch and after getting my entire face squeezed, that is sayin somethin!
But sadly, my time in Relaxationville had to come to an end and what a sad moment that was. I begrudgingly changed back into my stressed out real world clothes and headed back out to the loud, horn honking, cab driver yelling, crazy, busy world that is Manhattan. But I will never forget you Delluva because you were easily one of the best parts about my visit to NY and will be forever grateful :)

I got a facial from Fiona (half price, $ 60, through Lifebooker!) She’s a really nice lady from New Zealand, and so knowledgeable.
The space is beautiful. I love the plush robes (although mine had little bleach/​burn marks on it) and little locker room. The chill out space is nice, I happily hit up the wine.
The facial was excellent: steamer, high frequency thingamajig, mask, foot/​hand rub, serums… I especially loved the champagne/​rose serum at the end. There was absolutely no selling pressure, which is the best.
Get on that Lifebooker deal asap!

Went to this place because it is close to my job and Lifebooker (and IF you don’t know about Lifebooker, you’re slippin’ for real) was offering 50% off all facial/​waxing/​mani-​pedi appointments at this spa through May. This place get an A+ for its décor, atmosphere and overall customer service. Upon entering the place, I was settled into a cozy area with a locker room, a plush robe and the comfiest sandals to flop around in. I was then led into a well-​appointed lounge where I snacked on the complimentary snacks, wine and champagne. Maybe I relaxed a bit too much, because after a glass (or two) of the Sauvignon Blanc, I fell into an after-​work slumber, at which point, one of the attendants needed to wake me.
I didn’t get a massage at Delluva, but it’s important to note that this spa specializes in wine-​based treatments using skincare products with Napa/​Sonoma grapes from South Africa (can u tell I studied the spa’s brochure?). Apparently, it was the first spa to introduce Vinotherapy to New York City. With all this info under my belt, it is rather idiotic that I did not treat myself to a body treatment. Rather, I exposed myself to services that, in my opinion, this spa is less skilled at, like waxing and mani-​pedicures. All in all, this place is too chic and chill to not venture into again. I will def return to get one of their luscious body treatments.
