Dominican Film Festival

The third annual Dominican Film Festival #DDF in NYC was an awesome and well organized event. My hat’s off to Armando Guareño, Founder & Executive Director of the event. The week long event from June 17 – 22 had a variety of films ranging from action to comedy; drama to sci-​fi and everything in between. It was amazing to see film makers new and establish come together to display different aspects of this culture on the big screen from their own prospectives. The special panel discussion featuring successful Dominican film and television talent living and working in the United States and Europe including actors, directors, screenwriters and producers was very insightful and provided an insider’s look on the challenges of film making in Hollywood and the potential for more exposure through independent film making. A highlight for me at this event was meeting the legendary Actor/​Director Juan Fernandez. His directorial debut of EL GALLO was a courageous untold story. If you missed this spectacular event; stay tuned next year-​it keeps getting better with time!
