Established in 1988.

Douglas Zeiger is a board-​certified infectious diseases specialist and attending physician at NYU Langone Medical Center.

He provides consultations pre and post travel and provides all necessary vaccinations such as yellow fever vaccine with a yellow fever certificate, typhoid vaccine, polio vaccine, all other needed vaccines, and malaria prevention.

He also provides consultations in infectious diseases such as HIV, AIDS, skin and soft tissue infections, MRSA infection, hepatitis C infection, hepatitis B infection, infections in diabetics, and pneumonia.

The Office is open daily from Monday through Friday following a realistic appointment schedule. Most patients are seen within five minutes of their appointment time.

Came here for vaccinations. Actual experience was OK, but he overbilled my insurance and charged me for copays that I should not have paid as vaccinations are covered 100%. I understand that he billed for a consultation for my first visit, which is totally fine and expected since we did talk about my upcoming trip and he gave me a prescription for malaria meds and traveler diarrhea. But for giving me the second and third dose of my vaccination there was no actual consultation and I don’t think he should have charged me for one.

I went to see Dr Zeiger with my wife to get shots for a trip to Thailand. The doctor knew everything we needed plus a couple bonus shots. We are actually going in today for a follow up shot. Really nice and the shots didn’t hurt at all! Real Pro!

I was recommended to Dr. Zeiger by my primary care physician in relation to travel vaccinations. I found Dr. Zeiger to be competent, efficient, and professional. He walked me through the various vaccinations recommended for my travel destination, clearly outlined the costs and possible side effects, and provided printed materials I could reference during my trip. He didn’t try to up-​sell me on unnecessary vaccinations, which I appreciated. Also, I have never received such a painless series of shots! The man knows what he’s doing. All told I was in and out of the office in about a half hour, feeling well-​informed and confident about my health during my upcoming travels.

The worse doctor I have ever come across in my 40 years of seeing doctors. I am very disappointed he got paid for doing nothing from my insurance company, he spent less than 5 minutes with me. Did not listen to my complaints. He directed me to the examining room, where he poked his hand in my abdomen area for less that 10 seconds. I went to see him two weeks ago still waiting for a call from him to tell me what he thinks is wrong with me. Did not even order any not one test. So sad that some of these doctors like lawyers get away with so much.

I went to see Dr. Zeiger back in April prior to a four month trip through SE Asia. I found him to be very helpful. He explained everything that I needed to know and gave me the information that I needed, including costs, to make my own decision without pushing me one way or the other. He made sure that I understood side effects and risks and was even willing to discuss prescription medications that I might need just in case along the way. He had a firm understanding of the possible health issues that I could face in every country that I had planned.
As I met other travelers, it was apparent to me that I was far more informed than most. I was in some pretty remote areas and went swimming wherever I was without any concern. I highly recommend Dr. Zeiger if you are planning a trip to any exotic locations.

Terrible doctor. I was travelling to SE Asia, and Dr. Zeiger had little to no interest in my safety, as he didn’t alert me that Japanese Encenphalitis is a common and deadly disease. HE also gave me the WRONG DOSAGE for malaria without so much as an aplogy. On top of both of these, he didnt give me the oral Typhoid pill, instead one that I later found out needed to be refridgerated even though he knew I would be flying to Asia later that week.
Overall, very poor service and concern for the patient, and didnt seem to have any regard for me, as he probably realized I was a one-​time patient looking to get travel vaccines. Definitely not recommended.
When I asked ‘What happens if I forget to take a day of Malaria pills’ he just responded ‘Dont forget’. These vague responses were all he would give whenever I asked a question. DO NOT GO HERE!

It’s been a long difficult journey but Dr. Zeiger was wrong and the evidence was finally found when all of my cats had been scratching, and all were going to the vet, but the evidence was not discovered until the vet pronounced he’d found 2 dead fleas on my 3rd kitty. Now it is kind of obvious now that — the problem which was bothering me — duh my kitties sleep on the bed with me — is the fleas were biting me and laying eggs all over me and the bed. Now the important thing to understand here is how tiny a flea can be, and basically if you are reading a size 10 or 12 font, this. symbol for period and the end of a sentence is how big a flea can be. Imagine this is very hard to see unless you have 20 20 vision and even then is difficult to see. The other important thing to remember is that their eggs are also rediculously small — and sometimes they are easier to see if they stick together. The other thing about fleas is the females lay 50 eggs a day so even though professionals, exterminators or doctors don’t or can’t see them doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I really feel justified in my upsetness for Dr. Zeiger not understanding what I was speaking about and trying to explain. My skin doctor showed me various flea bites and it seems on each individual is different. On one individual it can look like a rash, on another just like a pimple, while on still another the pimple can be 1⁄3 the size, on another just like a red dot.
You get the idea folks. Sometimes a bug is just a bug and the patient is always delirious or imagining things.
— People assume fleas are easy to kill but they have a 21 day cycle difficult to stamp out. I am almost done in my assault on my apartment and my animals have flea collars and are all about to get their 4th bath in that many months.

Dr. Zeiger is great. I originally came to him when my doctor passed away and I was shocked to find out that he was an upgrade from my old physician.
He’s an honest guy who doesn’t sugarcoat stuff. So, if there’s bad news you’re going to hear it in a forthright manner.
Unlike other doctors he’s very truthful and direct about the limits of his knowledge. Once he even picked up a book and looked something up while I was in his office. I loved that.
As previously mentioned, you can get him on the phone too.
I’ve referred many friends and co-​worker to Dr. Zeiger and I haven’t heard any complaints.

This is the worst doctor I have ever dealt with in my life. I am a very low maintenance patient. I’m healthy, I’m young and I trust that doctors have my best interest at heart. This is the first time in my life that I have had a serious health concern.
Do not go to this Doctor he does not care about you. He spent all of 10 minutes with me. He did not listen to my symptoms had no interest in my condition and didn’t even ask me any questions. When I asked him questions he avoided them. He treated me like I was a hypochondriac.
He sent me to get three different tests. He never followed up on the tests. I had to call the lab to ask them if they sent him the results. Then call his receptionist to tell her the results had already been sent to them. She then told me that the lab was lying to me.
I had to basically stalk him to get my results which were given to me by his receptionist. He didn’t even have the courtesy to call me himself.
When I asked if I could come in to see him to discuss the results I was told he would call me later that day and he never did. I called him the following day multiple times. His line is ALWAYS busy and his receptionist puts you on hold forever and forgets about you.
He finally answered the phone told me that there was nothing he could do for me and referred me to someone else.
I’LL SAY IT AGAIN DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS DOCTOR. He just wants to collect your money.

Wow! I picked Dr. Zeiger randomly based on proximity to my office and that he participated in my health insurance. From the time I called in to make my appointment I was impressed. One of the first questions the receptionist asked me was what my e-​mail address was. She was e-​mailing me the new patient forms to fill out before I even got there… What efficiency! Getting to the office was a bit confusing to find at first, going downstairs to go back upstairs to the office, but once you got there things were looking good.
Quaint little office, nice receptionist, met with the doc in his office to discuss things, different examination room, back to office to discuss more. Now for what really impressed me…
He seemed truly in love with his profession talking about articles he has read and new treatments that are on their way. What REALLY impressed me was when he asked what pharmacy I used. I gave him the name and location and before I knew it he had electronically sent my prescription to the pharmacy for me. All I had to was pick them up, truly awesome.
…and here is the kicker. About 3 weeks after I finished the meds he prescribed, without anything on my part, the doc calls me and asks me how I am. A doctor that follows up? Its a miracle!
Two thumbs way up!
