Great beer, super-fun backyard/outdoor area… make sure to make your way back there.

Have been here only a couple of times, but I’ve passed this place thinking nothing of it, every time I come hang at the backyard beer garden I am amazed, and glad I found this neighborhood gem :) Drinks are decent prices, appetizer food is surprisingly gourmet, good prices. Haven’t sat inside or had dinner, but have been impressed so far :)

Wound up here after doing a listening to a new upcoming CD for a fantastic Progressive Rock musician; Oh alright it was the new Steven Wilson album«The Raven That Refused To Sing» and after indulging in its greatness, my colleague and I were ravenous for something to eat along with an icy cold beverage(despite the Winter chill). I had passed by the bar a few times and felt its name along merited a visit but of course each of those times I had already eaten at either Smith’s or the now shuttered Bull Moose Saloon. Based on the time of the day there were only a handful of people in the place so we opted for a table instead of sitting at the bar and ordered up a couple of pints. My friend went Guinness while I chose Bass. Each was just what the doctor ordered. For food we each decided on the Sirloin Burger and this came with cheese and bacon as well along with fries or tater tots(we chose tots) and a small salad also was on the plate. A nice touch. I had to say the burger was fantastic and filled me up perfectly. Had some nice neighborhood chat with the bartender/waiter and soon even the proprietor was there to chime in. The outside area seems nice but of course it was too cold during my visit to entertain that. This is a great spot if heading to the Terminal 5 venue which often leaves me thinking I am in no man’s land. Not only was the food and drink commendable, but the kitchen remains open late so if you slip out before midnight over there you can still get something to eat over here. Smart move for sure. I will enjoy visiting here again when its possible to do so.

Came here on Saturday with a group of 6 for lunch/brunch at about 12:45pm. There weren’t many people here, so its a great place if you want to avoid the crowds that usually inundate restaurants throughout NYC for brunch. Druids is a little classy and a dive all at the same time. They have tablecloths on their tables, but the bar is right there and its one of those nice traditional bars you’d expect in an Irish pub. Our server was super helpful, attentive and patient with our group. It took us a while to figure out what we wanted, while catching up and drinking. I got the Druids Breakfast, which was awesome. Two eggs cooked perfectly with crispy bacon, awesome sausages, baked beans and roasted tomato. Yum! The home fries were perfectly cooked, like little square french fries. I definitely joined the clean-plate club here. My sister enjoyed a salad with the addition of grilled chicken. Everyone was raving about the salad dressing — something with hazelnuts in it. My bro-in-law got the bangers and mash, which he loved. I had the same sausages(I think), which were fantastic. Lots of flavor and good texture. Two others got the fish and chips, which looked awesome. My fiancé got the ham and cheese panini. I think he was a little disappointed since our food was so fun and delicious. He just had trouble deciding what to get. Overall, everything was great — would come back here again if I was in the neighborhood and wanted a relaxed meal with a good beer.

Such a cute place! I hadn’t heard of it before, but wanted to meet my old prof/friend somewhere classy but not expensive with good food and in Hell’s Kitchen. That’s actually a lot of requirements! Of course I turned to Unilocal to guide me… and I was not misguided in the slightest. This place met all of these requirements. By «classy”– it was still an Irish pub so not fancy, but had cloth tablecloths and cloth napkins. And goblet-style water glasses. It’s the little things. The décor was great, too– exposed brick walls, dark hardwood floors, a huge bar, great lighting that wasn’t too dark but wasn’t crazy bright. The server/bartender was super. He was SO friendly to us, and constantly refilled our waters. The food itself was great, too! My friend got a shrimp/goat cheese salad that was HUGE. I mean, some salads are meals, right? This was one of those salads. She really loved it. I had a sirloin burger with bleu cheese and WOW did it hit the spot. Even the bun was delicious and toasted. Entrees ran about $ 9 or $ 10. They put a basket of assorted breads and butter in front of you as soon as you sit down. Everything about it was right. Even the music. I have not a single complaint.

I want to first praise Druids for their omelettes – it is a real honest to God omelette you get here. So many places I go, they present these scraggly burned scrambles people keep trying to pass off everywhere, usually the product of an under-trained cook in the kitchen, who is likely also drastically underpaid. Not Druids. Druids is keeping the light alive for a real omelette. It is perfectly gold, solidly cooked but very tender, the materials within are hidden as they should be and not showing through. I’m so discouraged by the prevelance of bad omelettes of late – everywhere I go, I get something tough and disgusting and badly made and they want to charge me at least 9.95 for it. I come here and I know if I order an omelette, it will be made well, every time. In particular, I recommend the arugula and wild mushroom omelette. If you depart from that, I recommend the Druids breakfast, a perfect Irish breakfast – grilled tomato, beans, sausage and bacon, eggs as you like. Druids is a wonderfully idiosyncratic creature that I have relied on ever since moving back to NYC. Hell’s Kitchen for brunch can be, well, hell, basically, but I always know I can go to the back garden at Druids for this beautiful omelette and coffee, and if I like, a Bloody. I also know I can go here for a great scotch, and I can go here for a great burger, and I can go here with a book and sit, drinking Guinness in the afternoon, poured perfectly. This place is a mix of Irish bar and white-table-cloth dining. You can get that Guinness and if you like have it with a duckleg confit salad or fish and chips, other favorite treats of mine. It’s friendly and unpretentious, the food and drink are always of high quality, and the service is reliable, friendly and unobtrusive. I can’t recommend it enough.

I really like this place and although it doesn’t stand out as unique or amazing, it was a great, basic place with fancy pub food and nice service. We got drawn to this place because of their garden and I don’t regret it. The back garden was gorgeous, it was like the Secret Garden. It had a relaxed feeling with comfy pillows as seats, large antique mirrors, sprawling ivy, and at least 6 – 8 tables. The place has two menus, a nicer dinner menu, and then their ‘pub’ menu. It was nice that they don’t restrict you to one menu depending on when you come or where you sit. The food was surprising affordable for the theater district. Includes pastas, chicken, duck, mozzarella sticks, veggie sandwich, etc. A little bit of everything. We had lobster ravioli(good), burgers(delicious!) and fish and chips(huge portion). The four of us had entrees, appetizers and drinks and the total bill was like $ 130. Loved it. The dining area inside was starkly different from the outside patio. It was crisp, clean, white table clothes, quiet and fancy. I felt like the back garden was designed by like the owner’s offbeat bohemian sister.

Druid’s is the real deal. The first time you go there, you feel welcome. The second time and every time after, you are family. No place nicer than the garden, when the weather is perfect or even not so much. The food is terrific, and even an old seasoned bartender like myself can’t make a better Manhattan or Martini than Denny & Sean make. Thanks to owner Michael Young for creating a great New York tavern, and for making my family part of his family.

Even YOU can be an honorary drunk Irish man for a day! … hell I definitely was.(I think??) Met up here with some friend on St. Patties day during the NYC parade. The service, given the crazy atmosphere, was on point.(I think??) Only issue: One bathroom for men… really?

We killed time in here yesterday while waiting for the Daily Show taping. Everyone in the bar at this odd afternoon hour was doing the same thing. The bar tender knew what we were up to and quickly handled everyone’s transactions so we could get on our way. I love the décor and I love the dirty mint green paint color. This place seems like it’s been there since the 1880’s and I loved that about it. they also only had 2 small, high-hung tv’s. That makes me happy because I think excessive tv sets in bars is trashy.

BESTGUINNESS&BESTBURGER. Love this place. The inside is meh, with the super fancy décor and smooth jazz. Doesn’t serve as an irish pub when you look at it. This backyard though is one of those New York secrets that no one knows about. Its absolutely beautiful, so quiet and peaceful — and in the middle of Manhattan! Great place for a coffee, or an Irish Coffee, a Guinness, or a White Russian — amongst other things. Great Fish and Chips too. The«bar menu» is better as far as food, the regular menu is fancier and not too good. So tip: go on a nice afternoon or evening when you can sit outside in the back — and want to get away from busy New York life!

Think about the local pub that you’d love, to call your own, a place where the bartenders know your name, AND your drink of choice to a T, and if you’re on the way West Side, this would be the place. There’s a garden, and the owner would rather this be known for it’s food(which is spectacular!), but this place is a smart haven of creative folk, photogs, artists, and spicy locals that create an interesting mix. Give it a try, and more than once. The burgers are awesome.

I wanted to hate this place, I really did! Druids is an uneventful bar, I mean I have lived a block down for 13 years and hit about every Hells Kitchen watering hole and restaurant… but for some strange reason never felt compelled to walk into Druids. Unsure why this Irish pub is uninviting, but once you walk in you can tell that these wood paneled walls contain secret whispers of a Hells Kitchen past. I swung by last week on a whim and made a to-go order. The waitress was indifferent. Damn, this is going to suck I thought. Being connoisseur of burgers, I choose the Bacon Cheeseburger, with a side of veggies. Wait. no blue cheese dressing? But they have crumbled blue, OK even better. I asked for this on the side. While I waited, I sat down at the bar next to an old feller with a thick brogue. This place is full of regulars like him. Bar service was OK. My order came out, and then a second later someone ran out of the kitchen«Wait! Forgot your side of mayo». I grabbed my bag, downed my Stella and walked home. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised. A fresh hand pressed burger with side salad, fries, cheese and bacon for $ 10.50? Wow, what a deal. To top it off, the juicy burger was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The chips were just that, chips of potatoes fried. Different from fries I am used to, but good. Mayo, ketchup, fork, knife, napkins all in the bag(you would be surprised by how many places don’t provide you with a fork & knife). Veggies were crisp and tasty, and my side of crumbled blue was enough for two salads. make that three! Price and quality of the burger far outweighed the dreariness and dull staff. Druids will def be an addition to my Hells Kitchen repertoire of eateries, if not for nothing more then the burger.

The quintessential West Side bar, Irish owned and operated. Good stuff on tap, and an outstanding kitchen.(Skip the burger and try the fish and chips or bangers and mash.) The patio out back is a great place to unwind after a long day or get wound up before the theatre. Revolving artist exhibitions decorate the main bar/dining room. Quiet and intimate enough for a business lunch, later on you can share a mug with lively Hell’s Kitchen locals or the trendy after-work crowd. One of my all-time favorite neighborhood bars.

Druids is banal, bland, and boring. On a business trip in May, my coworker wanted to grab a beer, some dinner, and watch whatever NBA or NHL playoff game was on. He decided to walk here. Unfortunately, Druids is a library without books, that happens to serve mediocre food and alcohol, masquerading as an Irish pub. This joint was super quiet around 8 P.M. The lighting was super dim. The food was blah. Even with a Red Bull in my system, I still felt like taking a cat nap here. Come to think of it, if I lived in Hell’s Kitchen, I’d dread going to Druids. Well, unless I wanted to go sleep. In fact, writing this review about Druids has made me sleepy. Yawn.

Wow. The bangers and mash are awesome. I might even post a picture of it, which would be quite uncharacteristic of me. The soup(potato & leek) was yummy as well, as is the lobster ravioli. And of course, the beer is straight from the tap. This is a relaxing, unassuming bar. Great for conversation and enjoyment of good food, good company, good beer. This was ~7pm on a Friday night. Locals don’t bother you and tourists haven’t found this place yet. AWESOME!

Went here with a colleague for lunch. She and other Unilocalers raved about the fish and chips. I decided to get it. The fish and chips was a good entrée, but the fish was very disappointing. The fish had no crunch and crispiness to it. The fish meat was a large portion but more on the dry side than moist. The chips were very good, crispy — miniature triangle shapes. The side salad was a nice touch but the dressing they used is bland. This lunch entrée was overpriced at $ 14. During lunch time, Druids is more of a ghost town. Just one or two people sitting at the bar. We were the only ones sitting at the tables. I would come back here as I like the quietness and privacy during the lunch break. The bartender had a friendly attitude and provided great service. I would come in next time but to drink at the bar.
