Family owned and operated, E & M Auto Center is your one stop shop for all your automotive and tire needs. We handle everything from paint to insurance estimates, oil changes to NYS inspections. The auto repair services we offer include wheel alignments, wheel balancing, brakes, computer diagnostics, tune ups, batteries, and much more. We also carry a large selection of new and used tires.

At E & M Auto Center, we work on all makes and models. All fleet accounts are welcomed (PHNH, MAP INC, GE, ARI, LEASEPLAN, and others). We are conveniently located right in the heart of midtown and offer towing services. We are a no frills shop — straight-forward and honest is how we work. With over 30 years of experience, our mechanics are highly trained to get the service or repair on your vehicle done right the first time.

I’m with other reviewer — Bobby is fantastic and helped me out with a stuck car in a tight spot.
The GEICO folks (from somewhere down south) just couldn’t understand what I was explaining about lifts and parking lots in Manhattan. One of the other toe companies that they contacted simply gave up and said they couldn’t help.
Bobby, however, agreed to first take a look, and then figured out what needed to be done.
He was courteous and polite and also calming — in what was a stressful situation for me.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I used E & M Auto for emergency roadside assistance through GEICO.
Their tow truck driver, Bobby, made a terrible situation a lot better in several ways:
He arrived fast, and greeted me with a friendly handshake.
He got the car on the flatbed quickly.
He drove very safely through Manhattan.
He was very personable.
I hope E & M knows what a teriffic asset they have in this driver. Bobby is a first class professional.
I hope to never need their services again, but if I do, I will be glad to work with E & M again.

If I could give these people no stars I would. I went in needing an estimate for damage on my 2013 Mercedes E 350 and was planning on doing the work there but the 2 men working on a Saturday were so rude from the beginning. They even told me to go to the dealer which makes no sense if i wanted to go to the dealer I would have and then they told me to leave. Wow! Stay away!

My insurance company scheduled a tow from this company and the tow truck driver NEVER CAME!
This appointment had been made 2 days in advance for an 8am tow. Usually, the tow truck person will call ~10mins in advance to confirm the location. I called them at 7:50am to be sure someone was on their way and I was assured the tow truck was just getting gas and should be there shortly. I called back at 8:15am (since no one had called me to update me) and I was told the driver was 5 miles away. I called back at 8:30am and there was no answer.
I finally called my insurance company and I rescheduled with a different tow truck company. E&M never came and gave me false information about a driver who was supposedly «on their way» for almost an hour.
I would have understood if they called me to inform me of a delay but they never initiated communication with me.
I DO NOT recommend this company at all. They seem highly unprofessional.
I ended up using PANJSHIR TOWING INC and they were amazing!!!
I highly recommend them if your car needs to be towed. Very professional and prompt.

Completely agree with the review about inspection. They wanted me to change four tires and my alternator or i would get failed. I had to argue that i got them changed last year and that ive had no problems with my alternator. It was the only place in hells kitchen that was available as my usual place was full. I will never come back here.

These guys are scammers — do NOT use them! Like an idiot I waited till late in the month to get my car inspected. E & M wouldn’t pass me unless I got two new tires. They put «Verenti» tires on my car and charged me $ 200/each. They told me the tires were distributed by Goodyear but I discovered online that they’re low-end Sears tires that retail for $ 77/each! So besides the labor I paid E & M $ 246 in bogus mark-up fees. To top it off, I had to replace these crappy tires after only 16K miles. Rip-off artists!

Extremely disappointed with this company. Improperly charged me $ 59 «for tolls» when my job was covered by insurance and the actual amount of tolls was no more than roughly $ 25. I asked them for a receipt two days after I used them, and they told me to «call back in a few days.» Called them back in a few days and they, again, said «call back in a few days.» Called back in a few days and they told me to prepare an email request. When I did not get a response to my email, they told my insurance company that my receipt had been destroyed in a flood. When I followed up with them after that, they told me that they always destroy their receipts after a week because they «have no use for them.» They then proceeded to hang up on me twice, when I started to explain why I thought they should come up with a receipt in any event. They didn’t have the patience or the attention span to stay on the line with me for more than roughly 30 seconds. I am shocked that my insurance company would employ such a shady outfit.

These guys are awesome! I called for an oil change– they said after 1. I got there at 12:30 and they took me right away. They let me sit in the office to do some work while waiting. They were fast and nice. While there they noticed my tail light was busted. They ordered one right away and told me to come back the next day in the afternoon. I went two days later. I just showed up– they said stay in your car. They did it for me right there while I was waiting. Fast and nice and that’s what I want.
I can not speak to prices because it’s a fleet vehicle so I never see the cost. This is not a fancy place where you go in, wait, have coffee in the lounge etc. It’s a dirty– greasy garage– and as long as they stay as fast and courteous as they were– that’s plenty good for me.

These guys were terrific! I broke down outside of the Lincoln Tunnel on a Friday afternoon. Smoke was streaming outside of the hood and the Port Authority, although courteous and helpful, was not happy.
They diagnosed the problem, poured in my fluids and assured me that I would make it back to Jersey through the tunnel, which I did.
The traffic was horrendous, with lots of stop and go, but the old trooper made it back in.
My only complaint was that it took the Tow Truck 2 hrs to get there. But the driver was courteous and cooperative. I even thought above feeding the pidgeons.
It was $ 40 and mostly, my fluids. But it was quick and a lifesaver. Manhattan, unknown auto mechanic, Friday @ 4pm, I was quite satisfied.

My car broke down in NYC, and E+M towed it to the garage. They repaired in overnight, EXPERTLY, and for $ 1,000 or more LESS THAN the local Mazda dealer would have charged. They provided a clear estimate, fast service, and were a pleasure to work with. You go here for car repairs.

I went here for the first time at 5pm on a Friday before labor day weekend so I’m not sure if my experience was typical, with that said:
Right from when I pulled up, the attendant was extremely helpful and nice. The guys working there were very focused on what had to be done which, while they skipped a few social niceties, was actually appreciated because I wanted to get in and get out quickly. I went in to have a plastic piece re-attached to the bottom of my car and while the car was on the lift they pointed out a nail that was in the back tire (which was amazing since I was going on a road trip the next day!). It took literally 10 minutes to fix both.
The only thing that stops me from giving this place five stars is the boss was a little unclear as to how he got to the price he did. He kind of just mumbled a price range when I asked him how much it would be. I don’t know how much car repair costs so I could be blissfully ignorant of how much I got ripped off, but, it cost $ 20 to plug the hole in my wheel and $ 30 to screw in the plastic thing. The attendant kind of laughed (in a pleasant although somewhat concerning (!) way) when I told him how much the boss said it would be but $ 50 almost seemed like a bargain for a quick, no fuss job — especially in Manhattan.
Will definitely go here again in an emergency /in general if I can confirm the pricing is fair.
