I only order from them to go and I have to say their food is pretty fresh and tasty. I am a bit of a fish taco snob because I like really fresh food and I was surprised at how good they were! They will be my new fish taco spot to order from. Yum! :D

The quesadillas were just cheese and flour, no veggies and no meat. The food was sub par and smelled weird. It did not seem fresh. I was hesitant to eat it, it also did not taste good at all.

My instincts said to trust the server. I gave him 2 choices & he highly recommended the Pechuga Rellena– oven roasted chicken breast with squash blossoms on a bed of spinach, green peppers and onions. The creamy tequila sauce made me wish I could lick the plate! Sorry I missed their great happy hour from 3 – 6. I’ll be back.

Never even got to first base with them. My non-profit wanted to order $ 400 worth of tacos from their food truck on Governor’s Island and prearranged and wanted to pay for it before our event which was going to be in 3 days. We’ve been trying to confirm our order for more than 2 weeks. Enrique said he was going to email the invoice within the hour. This didn’t happened after several calls and emails. The most frustrating thing was not only the non-responsiveness of the owner but was also the person who picked up the phone. She said several times that she was only the cashier and not Enrique’s personal assistant. Nothing like someone who takes pride in not being helpful! She asked my name again when earlier she supposedly took my name down to give him the message. How can you not know my name when the message you took should still be in hand?! I was perplexed why they seem to avoid my calls when all I wanted was an invoice to pay them. Eventually Enrique called me back but I told him I couldn’t wait any longer and went with a different vendor. He seemed to not be perturbed. Hope this doesn’t represent their customer service because if it does it deserves no star whatsoever!

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the city. It is authentic, regional Mexican food. Each dish’s style and preparation comes from a specific region of Mexico’s cuisine. The margaritas are just as spectacular as the food. And the décor is beautiful and rustic. The general manager, Juan, treats us like family every time we come in and Franklin is an amazing server. Don’t miss the happy hour at the bar with the oyster bar and half priced margaritas! We bring our friends and family here when we want to impress them.

If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant to eat with friends, and you know your friends eat tons of food, NEVER take them to this place! Why such a harsh statement? I went with with a group of friends and we were given «baby portions» to what we would usually get when we order Mexican Food. Don’t get me wrong about the restaurant, the service is amazing and the environment is truly an authentic Mexican Feel, but the food size and portion could be improved a little more.
My friends ordered Quesadillas and when they brought them to the table, we literally thought they were tortilla chips! I was really taken by surprise because it’s that small and its $ 10.

I went recently went here for their happy hour special. I had to knock off one star for two reasons. One the happy hour is only at the bar and their bar is pretty small. The manager did try to accommodate a group of five which was nice. However, I really don’t like when restaurants only have happy hour at the bar. The second reason I knocked off a star is that it seems like their food shrunk. I have never seen portions so small. I had to order more food (very clever El Paso) because I was still hungry. The food was good and the guacamole was excellent. I didn’t like the sangria but margaritas were good. I don’t know if I’ll be coming back for happy hour but we’ll see.

Cool little place to hang out on a weeknight. Not crowded at all and the atmosphere is really chill. The people here are all a little older so that’s nice. Drinks were decently priced and pretty good. I got margaritas and spent a little time here.
Overall a good experience, I would most definitely come back if it weren’t so out of the way for me.

This place used to be good. Food is still good. Delivery service is now AWFUL. Last three or more orders have been progressively slower. The kicker, tonight, was an hour and a half and two phone calls to receive my chicken burrito which was smashed to a pancake. Done with these guys and it’s too bad.

Whenever I have an excuse to, I make a pilgrimage up to El Paso for dinner. It’s among my favorite Mexican places in the city, which is a compliment because I grew up on Mexican food.
If you want to have a quieter night, ask to sit in the back in the Patio. It feels like you’ve left New York City. It’s the quiet, long lunches kind of space that I grew up with in Mexico City. The food is excellent — I would recommend the Sopa Azteca, they somehow always find good avocados for the guacamole (in the middle of winter in NYC… this is a feat!), and the enchiladas de mole are my favorites. Throw in a margarita and it’s a perfect spot for a little adventure within the city on a Friday night with friends.

El Paso is one of the few bar and restaurants close to the Museum of the City of New York. I have been there after visiting the museum and I had a really nice time.
Me and my two friends shared an order of guacamole with fresh warm chips. Afterwords we had fish tacos, shrimp quesadillas and salmon crevice. Everything was highly curated and tasty. I had the quesadillas and I rarely eat them with much delicious shrimps and filling.
Service was fast and super nice. The environment could be consider romantic and intimate, but the place is good for small group of friends too.
Definitely a to go place spot in the Spanish Harlem neighborhood!

One of my go-to takeout spots when I’m feeling like I need my Mexican fix :)
Warning: the order that is about to follow is the definition of «basic»
Tacos Pollo — delicious, well done and well priced! love the fresh radishes & lime they serve on the side
Arroz y Frijoles — rice is flavorful and certainly worth the carb count
Guacamole — F R E S H… seriously so delicious, I’m sometimes wary about ordering guac for takeout but this was absolutely delicious
Salsa Verde … yum, yum, yum. seriously they should bottle it and sell it.
With Tip my roommate and i got 4 tacos, 2 orders of Rice & Beans, an order of Guacamole — all in $ 30 bucks. It was WHOLLY satisfying and made the Sunday Sads quite a bit better :)

Place is your regular Mexican joint. The staff was very kind and agreeable, the place clean and welcoming.
I ordered the chuleta with the tamarind sauce and the collard greens. It was quite the fail but okay. There was so much sauce on the plate, it looked a bit like vomit, and there weren’t collard greens hiding under my chuleta but spinach. I didn’t mind, I love spinach but I wasn’t informed. You can’t assume I am cool with spinach for substitution, could I have had something else?
Desert was great, we had a chocolate molten cake and delicious sesame ice cream. I loved that.
Overall good experience, just not a fan of my entrée, it looked ugly, I wasn’t told about my substitution and it was submerge in tamarind sauce that didn’t even taste like tamarind.

Good food. I sat at the bar this one day after class to order some late breakfast and I was impressed by the quality of food. I didn’t know places in Spanish Harlem cared about having quality. haha, kind of hiding but not really. I live in Spanish Harlem so I’m allowed to joke. If you don’t live in Spanish Harlem, you’re not allowed to say stuff like that but I live right across the street from El Paso.
The restaurant is pretty pretty pretty good.

Great food all around. Their brunch is certainly the way to go. $ 34 for unlimited drinks and entrée (or just chose from entrée list for about $ 12 – 15). Awesome food.
I highly recommend the Mole de Ólla which is a braised beef spicy chile soup. Very fresh, tense beef is a incredibly tasty broth base. Wow.

Great service from start to finish. Water and sangria poured frequently. Guacamole was good. Fresh, hot chips replenished.
Veggie burrito was delicious and more than enough for either lunch or dinner. Egg dishes beautifully prepared an seasoned well.
$ 32 one entrée 2 hour open drinks brunch!
If uptown please stop in. Lovely surroundings and ambiance.

I’m a fan of the burrito and chicken tacos here. It pains me to knock a star off because of the service but El Paso knows they aren’t the speediest around. They used to have an express taqueria across the street (damn eminent domain– it’s a 7-Eleven now). The silver lining is they have a taco truck that I bet is better on their overhead than the taqueria was (I hear it’s a great truck but haven’t gotten to try it yet– if it’s like the taqueria I believe it though)
Anyway, the restaurant is great when it comes to the full menu and quality food (which is what we should focus on when it comes to a restaurant). I like to treat myself to El Paso when I need a lingering lunch break during the work day. The thing is, it will be a long lunch break because the service is never quick (that was the express taqueria’s job– it hasn’t translated back over). However, sitting and lingering over a good burrito or tacos and chips and guac isn’t the worst thing that could happen to me. And the service is generally friendly and delivered with a smile. No it’s not the royal treatment, but it’s hardly rude or inappropriate either. It gets the job done, and the job is bringing me a really good burrito, guac, and tacos that keeps me coming back for more. East Harlem wouldn’t be the same without El Paso!

OK food. Awful service.
Positives: Good mole sauce, they have an enchilada dish that completely drowned in mole. I was loving it.
Negatives:
Server forgot about our drinks. In fact, one person in our party of 3 got her dish awkwardly 5 minutes before either my friend or I did and before anybody got our drinks. Then we got our respective dishes. Then our drinks came out (presumably because I had to mention something).
Server was then too busy working on the party of 20 to bring us our check. It was 15 minutes of waiting with the last 5 minutes trying to flag him down until we ultimately decided to head straight to the register.
I would have liked a more substantial dish. I contemplated getting some tacos, but ultimately decided not to. I was hungry an hour afterwards.
