Elite Event: Passport To UES Kick Off Party @ American Trash

Heck yes! It was time to dive bar it up! Sure there were a few hot dogs being served but this was all about the party and the drinking and what a great night it was. We celebrated a birthday. The drink specials included PBR and shots of strawberry colada vodka or jameson. Thus the event turned into a crazy fun night that’s to awesome CM Ruggy!

Great event! I was this close to not going just because of the Rum Challenge the night before, but I’m so glad I decided to go.
Met old friends and new. Played a round of pool — first time dealing with the pay-​per-​game pool table. It nearly bested us! Whiskey, beer, and vodka equates to a solid night. They had Jameson (my favorite), PBR (my +1’s favorite), and fruity vodka (oh drank me please, she says). When I close my eyes, I can hear the gentle sound of a unicorn’s tail swishing as it prances across a bridge made of rainbows.
And then the food came. The wings, the sliders, the hot dog sandwiches. I was such a fan. Engulf those nomations like kobayashi.
Overall, solid Monday night. Loved this place. Their normal pricing is more than fair and I’ll definitely be back!

A classic dive bar on the Upper East side bursting to the seams with an ambiance cultivated by the influence of heavy metal, 70s rock and bikers where you can come to get utterly obliterated and TRASHED… tastes like a recipe for success.
For the lucky and brave few who survived the Canopy Bar from the previous evening of debauchery, Unilocal served up another truly epic event that I was so fortunate to be a part of thanks to Sara S. :-)
Beer shot combos aren’t really my cup of tea, but whiskey is right up my alley. Jameson with a waterback all night long, I really don’t need to say anymore JUST DRANKKKKKKKKKKK.

Heck yeah! An Elite party up in my hood for once, and at one of our own dive bars that has been a long standing stalwart up here on the UES! Ruggy had it right when he said this would be a booze-​centric gathering. Ice cold cans of PBR’s and Jamesons shots certainly helped ease the pain of a Monday along with the hot humid weather out!
What I love about this place? No pretention here. The normal crowd will find you mixing and mingling with bikers, old timers in the hood, locals, and a few rockers now and then. Digital jukebox that many times will be cranking out heavy metal and hard rock tunes. Posters, stickers, and all types of stuff hanging on the walls and ceiling. Awesome bartenders that will keep you hydrated with cold beers, or soused with tasty shots. Video games to play too. Lots of seating.
Perfect sized crowd for this event, and glad to see a few of my Unilocal friends that for some reasons never want to come up above 14^th street. Wake up people — there are a lot of great bars and restos up here now — with more on the way! It’s only a few extra subway stops on the 4,5,6 train. This ain’t your grandad’s UES anymore! Plus, I met a bunch of new Unilocalers tonight too that were pretty nice.
The bartenders rocked it tonight with ever flowing cans of PBR and Jamesons shots. They never left us waiting for our next drink. I am feeling it a bit today! Even though there were plates of wings, fries, hot dogs, and carrot & celery sticks with blue cheese dip I stayed clear of them since I am dieting and training right now. Just stuck with the booze, then we headed over to the great 2^nd Ave Deli across the street for a turkey sandwich and bowl of pickles. Almost went to the awesome Jones Wood Foundry around the block as I was really craving their delish fish & chips but willpower held me back. There really are a lot of terrific places to knosh and drink up here now on the UES! Ruggy — you have to do more events up here as there are just as many terrific spots as the over-​hyped and overexposed downtown area. Just sayin’…
Had a great time tonight and it was such a joy to be able to walk (stumble) back home from an Elite event in my own hood! Thanks Ruggy for setting up a pretty nifty event, and thanks to American Trash for hosting! The bartenders and staff were great, along with Steve at Red’s Hot Dogs serving up the grub!
The UES and Yorkville has got it going on nowadays!

There’s nothing quite like heading uptown on a Monday night, walking into a nice cozy dive bar, ordering 17 shots of Jameson and 12 PBRs for your group, drinking those, and then doing the same thing five minutes later with a whole different group of Unilocalers.
From the laid back atmosphere, to the TVs everywhere, to the super-​friendly staffers and fellow Unilocalers, to Steve whipping up some tasty dogs (banh mi were awesome!) and wings, this was a great setup for a Monday night… heck it’d be a great setup for ANY night! Last night’s event wasn’t too crowded, and there was a nice mix of familiar and new faces.
Some friends and I got our own taste of the upper east side once we left… Walking around in what seemed like a human ouija board, we stopped first for some 2^nd Ave Deli pastrami, then floated over towards a pizzeria for some grandma slices… awesome. We have the liquid buffet to thank us for those moves :)

It’s Monday night, so let’s get trashed! Thank you Ruggy J., Unilocal,and American Trash for throwing up one super-​fun event full of PBRs, whiskey shots, and extremely cool Unilocalers. When you enter a bar, and the first thing that immediately greets you is a complimentary shot of whiskey and a cold can of beer, then you know you’re in for one hell of an awesome Monday night.
Unilocal + American Trash successfully carried out what was fated to be one of the best drinks (drunk?)-driven Monday evenings of all Monday evenings; this is how we should really do Mondays. My favorite part of the entire night, taking (5) spontaneous rounds of shots (no pain, no gain) with new and familiar Unilocalers from all over the area (Jersey, Manhattan, BK, etc.). Straight up bar food from wings to french fries to hot dog sandwiches (banh mi) went around as we indulged in adult beverages and did random high-​fives. Good times, fun times, serious Monday Funday. Today was Hangover Tuesday filled with no regrets. I’m adding American Trash to my list of dive bars. Even as someone who works in Manhattan, rarely do I think about going up to the UES. However, this passport event opened my eyes to a new area. It’s certain that I’ll venture into the UES more often from here on.
In terms of the venue, American Trash keeps it real, authentic, and fun with the chaotic mixture of graffiti, random wall décor, PBRs + whiskey, etc. Definitely more interesting than your standard bar, and this was the perfect locale for the UES passport event. I had way too much fun for a Monday evening, all thanks to Unilocal,Ruggy J., and American Trash. As always, the Unilocalers really make the party. Thanks so much Ruggy J. for opening and extending the invite to the Jersey crew!

I finally brought ‘the Howie’ to a Unilocal event. I’ve known this New Yorker longer than anyone else out here and he’s introduced me to the vast majority of my friends on the east coast. A true New Yorker. I’m not sure how they feel about Unilocal still. The event wasn’t too shabby though. Pbr and a shot of whiskey on a Monday night? Okay.. .. some people were more hard core than others. I think someone boasted as of taking about 9 shots. I have never done more than 4 in one night I think in my life. But whatever floats your boat.
There actually was food! Silly Unilocal.I still didn’t eat anything at all today and there was more than I expected to fight that pain. Spicy buffalo chicken wings, carrot and celery sticks, and french fries that tasted very similar to McDonalds fries. I was one of the people that waited for the chef by the door to finish making his specialty spicy hot dog buns, kind of like Banh Mi. I was in a rush to head out though was the reason. Long commute. But the hot dog pieces were interesting. I watched the process in the making: layer of mayo, lettuce, cucumbers, jalapenos and I think relish was added or some kind of cole slaw possibly. It was pretty great whatever the combinations.
My buddy and I met quite a number of new elite faces and quite a number of jersey folks that were pretty hard core on the whiskey shots. ha. But I had a fun time and walked home with a handy dandy Unilocal luggage tag.

American? Yes indeed-​ie. In fact, I AM in the middle of aMERIca. Trash? Always. After walking through the streets of Manhattan all day, smelling lovely aromas of trash emanating every which way, I think I fit the bill tonight, at American Trash.
I thoroughly enjoyed this event this evening. Although, Ruggy described this as a «dive bar,» everything I encountered was far from dive-​y. Immaculate service from Dan the bartender, munchies poured from the kitchen, fries, wings, slider-​things were served to us Unilocal scavengers. That is far from dive-​y.
This event was pretty amazing. Endless cans of PBR, and shots of whiskey and voddy, surely quenched my thirst. So glad I was able to sit down either in a booth, or the cushy window seat by the front window.
Great tunes were chosen which I loved, Sublime, 311, Two Gallants… yeah this is gonna be a place I will bring my friend to from LI, and stumble out of in the near future.
So glad I was able to rub elbows with a few Unilocalers I had met before, and as always loved the new friends I encountered.
Manhattan events always make me feel super elite and posh… so I was so glad to be a part of this great event!

My first consecutive Elite event. OMG where did my weekend go? I met some amazing people and today topped it off. I love how these events range from ubber classy to dive bar heaven. This was definitely raunchy and I loved every second of it.
PBRs and shots are all they served. This definitely cured my hangover from the Rum Challenge event in Williamsburg the previous night. My favorite part? Seeing that everyone was alive after the wild after party. Anyway, I thought this was a great event and the wings and hot dogs satisfied my craving. Thanks Ruggy and Unilocal team! Good times :)
