Elite Event: Seven Grams Caffe’

This was my first Unilocal Elite event and hopefully many more to come! I am seriously addicted to coffee and love the flat white. I’m always trying to find a good flat white since there are so many variations of this and its pretty much a rather new thing. I will say Seven Grams’s flat white is definitely one of the better flat whites I have had in the city. And the latte art was so pretty! I really wish I took a picture.
The pastries were also delicious. The carrot cake and banana bread were not that sweet which is music to my ears and great in my mouth.
The event was very educational for me. Hardly do I ever walk into a coffee shop and know what the thought process is behind why they chose their beans and what style they are trying to express in their coffee. But because I got to hear Noam and Sharon talk, now I do know.
Another really cool part was the latte art. Donovan was so patient and encouraging while he was showing me how to do it. Now I can go home and try to make some latte art with my espresso machine!
It was also a very cool and small crowd, great for conversation!

Pros:
* Intimate get-​together, I like how it wasn’t too crowded and it was easy to carry conversations with fellow Unilocalers
* Delicious coffees and pastries– am a HUGE fan of the brownie bites, banana cake, and raspberry financiers. Cool thing is that you can even order party platters of these scrumptious goodies on

* It was fun to hear the history of Seven Grams Caffe’ from the passionate owners and baristas and make your own latte art– although we had to leave before we had a chance to…
Cons:
* I think the industrial décor is a too cold for their goal of a cozy and warm café, if they altered the cavernous pipe ceiling and brought more colors into the space, it would be a much more appealing venue

I usually will not go to an event that does not serve alcohol, but I do love coffee.
Two word that I can say is Banana Bread, this have to have some Crack in the recipe, oh my God I have not taste a good banana bread in a while.
Sharon and Noam, the owners told us the story how they when in a mission to taste every coffee shop and bakery in the city, so they can make the best recipe and menu that a coffee shop can have .
They told us why, the name of the store is Seven Grams Caffe «They told us in order to bill the perfect coffee latte, you have add seven grams of coffee.
Both of the owners and the staff of the store where very friendly and taught us a lot about coffee.
They have a good selection of cold, hot coffee and tea, and the pastries is delicious and they bake their on pastry, I really thought of buying a couple of Banana bread.

It’s great to see a local coffee shop in my work area that is also providing on premise baked goods. The neighborhood definitely needed a place like this. The shop use to be a crumbs but now is providing wonderful coffee and baked goods. Great event tonight where the owners gave us a little coffee lesson and it was nice to learn about flat white coffee which origins come from Australia. The La Colombe and iced coffees were brewed great and the pastries were spot on. The brownie bites and the banana chocolate bread were delicious. Very hospitable and offering some great items. Great to catch up with some old Unilocal friends and meet some new. Thanks to Ruggy and the the owners Sharon, Noam, and Donovan for putting together a great event.

Fun event! The owners at this establishment (Sharon, Noam) are very friendly and informative. They explained to us the origins of their shop and all the research they did before opening. They have a very focused menu and they make sure they do it well. high quality hot coffee and cold brew.
The pastries are great, limited selection, but that’s on purpose. The banana bread is ridiculous! I thought about taking a whole loaf home, but that would turn into my breakfast/​lunch/​dinner — dangerous!

THAT BANANA BREAD THOUGH!
Sharon and Noam, the owners, were incredibly gracious hosts. Thanks to head barista/​general manager Donovan’s gracious training, I made my very first latte from start to finish– with latte art that most definitely represented the likeness of a Hershey’s kiss (a.k.a. a glorified triangle).
Seven Grams Caffe chooses the best of La Colombe and Intelligentsia coffee beans so that all of their drinks are the best quality available on the market. They also pride themselves on making delicious baked goods to go with the drinks.
Thank goodness I had the willpower not to stuff my face with brownies. We definitely jokingly (ahem, sort of) tried to steal an entire loaf of banana bread, with Sharon laughing and threatening to check our bags on the way out!
Good thing. It’s only 3 months until summer, and I probably would have eaten the entire thing in one sitting. Fortunately, Ruggy is pioneering the workout casual dress at Unilocal events. I mean, I might have also been wearing yoga tights and running shoes too. It’s a thing, y’all.

The Quick: I love boozing, but latte art might be my new calling. Great people, ample snacks and caffeinated beverages, very fun different NYC night.
The Details: So nice to discover a coffee shop that felt like my «local shop» with the coolest owners and employees! Tried my hand at coffee art and will be sending in my application soon. Great snacks, can’t wait to return and request a special latte art — a lion of course.
Although I hardly ever give 5 stars– has to be pretty spectacular, like Ryan Gosling spectacular)– I had a very long conversation with Sharon which made me think otherwise. 5 stars for you 7 gram! (You go Glen Coco!!)

No alcohol? No problem! Especially when there is caffeine in the form of latte’s, espresso’s, and iced mocha’s. I really enjoyed this intimate event where I was lucky enough to not only sample high quality coffee beverages but also learn about how they were made and the thought process behind the creation of Seven Grams Caffe. Along with the beverages I was able to try delicious pastries, my favorites being the banana bread, carrot bread, and the brownies.
Thank you to the Seven Grams team and Ruggy for both hosting and planning the event. I now know where to go for good quality coffee and pastries in Chelsea!

What a fun G rated event at this modern, hip Chelsea coffee shop. 7g is the amount of coffee, arguably, to make the perfect shot of espresso. I definitely trust Sharon and Noam, the owners on that because the coffee they brew is delicious. It’s bold without the bitter. Their espresso, coffee and cold brew were all delicious. The cortado seemed to be the hit of the evening — it’s served hot or iced.
The mission of Seven Grams is to create the perfect coffee/​baked good combo experience. Their baked goods — especially the carrot bread, were moist, fresh and flavorful. Carrot means it’s healthy, right?
