This place is really great and Mary might just be a genius. She has cut my hair two separate times with drastically different cuts– both times excellent results. The salon itself is chic and the staff is knowledgeable.

This salon is a gem! Clean, modern, professional and welcoming. It’s hard to find someone to trust with your hair! But I’ve finally found it in Desiree and Enve Beauty Lounge! I’ve gone to Desiree several times now and every single time she has transformed me and given me the utmost in style and service. I can go in with only a vague idea of what to do and during the consultation she paints the rest of the picture, then makes it happen! I’ve had my hair cut, dyed, and permed over the course of time and each time been more than happy with the results. DOASKFORDESIREE! All of the staff members are friendly and helpful and the whole experience leaves you feeling beautiful and pampered.

Desiree did an awesome job on my hair! She completely nailed the ombré look I was going for! Plus she reassured me during the process since I was nervous and had never done it before. She is bubbly, professional and, most importantly, really listens to what you want done and how you do your hair on a daily basis. I recommend both her and Enve salon highly and am definitely going back! Thanks Des!

I had a good experience here. I bought a lifebooker loot for $ 155 for a Cua Cua Keratin Treatment, cut and blowout. The Keratin treatment isn’t as good as the Brazilian Blowouts I’ve had in the past. This is day 2 and my hair is frizzy, not crazy frizzy BUT I wouldn’t have this kind of frizz with a regular Brazilian Blowout. Desiree gave me a wonderful experience. She asked me some questions about how I style/wash/treat etc my hair and asked me what kind of cut I wanted. I explained it to her and she really listened I got EXACTLY what I had in mind. After many years and many salon visits I can tell you that is a talent that few stylists bother to perfect. So overall the experience was top notch thanks to Desiree’s skills and the beautiful layout/décor of the space. I liked the ease of making an appt too. I didn’t have to make an appointment 8 weeks in advance as I’ve noticed with other places I’ve bought deals for. The only thing I wish was better was the treatment I think Enve should consider taking it of their menu of services.

I was looking for a keratin treatment to re-moisturize my hair and smooth out the new growth until my next Japanese Magic Straight. I bought a lifebooker deal for«Brasil Cacau Keratin, Cut + Blowout» for $ 155 at Enve Beauty Lounge. Perhaps I should have googled a little more carefully. The Brasil Cacau«keratin» is not a «real» keratin. It’s more like a deep condition — no straightening/relaxing and gone in 2 shampoos. After the treatment, while the part of my hair that is magic-straightened definitely felt softer, the new growth actually looked even MORE curly. I’ve had keratins before and I know what they’re supposed to look like after, and this wasn’t it! Even the extra softness disappeared after the second shampoo, despite the fact that I blew another $ 30 on no-salt no-sulfates shampoo the keratin grift recommends. To make matters worse, the haircut was not good. Not a total disaster — the worst has already grown out three weeks later– but the first couple of weeks, which were during vacation travel, I had no idea how to style my very-curly-at-the-roots, straight-everywhere else, very awkwardly cut hair. Not fun. I couldn’t tell the haircut sucked as I was leaving the salon because they didn’t give me a blowout(flat out told me a blow-out wasn’t included in the service.) I also had to ask for the haircut, it wasn’t volunteered. I almost felt like I talked them into it, but I knew the deal definitely included a haircut. Turns out it included a blow out too! So the icing on the cake is that I left the salon feeling… just…ugh. Not good. Not pretty. Definitely not like I got my money’s worth. You know that wonderful bounce in your step you get when you leave a salon looking fabulous? I definitely didn’t get that this time. The part I disliked most of all is that at the end of the visit, when it was clear that I wasn’t happy with the results, the other woman in the salon(apparently an owner or manager) gave me a long speech(guilt trip) about why they don’t do the old keratin treatment anymore because salon workers were dying from inhaling the fumes. That’s cool, but if you knew I was looking for a «real» keratin, why not tell me that at the outset? This has happened to them before, I would wager — the girl who styled my hair seemed pretty nervous once I brought up the subject of other keratin treatments, and she took pains to distinguish this treatment from the dramatic results of JMS — but NOT from traditional keratin. I didn’t put two and two together until my hair emerged from the treatment with noticeably curlier roots. If you want to make(unscientific) conjectures about the effects of formaldehyde fumes on salon workers and use them to justify not selling a service, that’s totally fine, it’s your business and you’re free to run it as you wish. Maybe the science will eventually bear out and you’ll get to pat yourself on the back years down the line for being right about keratin fumes. What you’re NOT free to do is advertise a service as a «keratin treatment» and charge $ 300+ for it, when it’s not. People pay hundreds of dollars for keratain because of the results. This treatment did not deliver results and should not be priced as though it does. And sure, I only paid $ 155 up front, but what deep conditioning is worth $ 155(+ 20% of $ 300 as tip) ANDADVERTISEDASDISCOUNTEDFROM $ 300? Lifebooker is kind of like the Gilt(dot) com of salon services in this way. Two stars for the location, spaciousness and cleanliness of the salon, and because I didn’t experience actual pain during the service. Minus three for a bad haircut and neutral to negative keratin results at a $ 200+ price tag(plus free guilt trip for wanting the keratin treatment I paid for). The place owes me a blowout but I wouldn’t go back to get it if they paid me.

Desiree did a fantastic job, and really looked after me from the consult through to the cut. Her attention to detail was spot on, and had great technique in managing my unruly, wavy and thick hair. Desiree really listens, and communicates with you on what works for your hair. She’s was totally open to ideas, and gave great feedback on what to do with my hair. Enve, is also an amazing salon. It’s HUGE, the space is super neat, with a great open feeling. Highly recommend this place, ask for Desiree!

Angelina M. is really talented and gives great haircuts and highlights. I didn’t have patience for highlights before Angelina, but now look forward to our time together(it’s like hanging with a friend). My friends and I have been following Angelina around NYC for about two years and thrilled that she’s finally at Enve. The space is beautiful and relaxing, which is quite usual to find in NYC. Angelina is also affordable and willing to shift around her schedule to see clients at convenient times.

Recently, I just went to Enve Beauty Lounge for a Brazilian Blowout with Gina. She has done a horrible job and unbelievably bad service and manner.

Gina is the best!!! She’s been my one & only for over 5 years now… Here’s why: I have long-ish, THICK, wavy/curly, frizzy hair that used to take 1 hour+ to dry & tame after a shower. I’ve also colored & hi lighted my hair countless times & was in dire need of some correction in that department. Gina was patient with me while I grew out all of the old color so I could get back to natural & didn’t talk me into throwing more color on top when what I really wanted was my old self! In the mean she always gave me the best(most flattering) cuts and thinned my ends so my hair was more manageable. When it was time to do something drastic(for me that was above shoulder-length), I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my look. This year I started getting the Brazilian Blowout. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t think it would do much, but man was I wrong! Gina’s meticulous and efficient style had me looking like I was born with beautiful hair in no time! I literally have never felt my hair so silky soft, smooth, and straight my entire life. No matter how much I worked to straighten my hair before, nothing compared to the results I saw when she was done with my Brazilian. WASH-AND-WEAR. The first time I washed my hair after the treatment, I was so anxious to see what it really did that I combed it & left it down to air dry. In no time it was dry and miraculously, still straight & silky, no rat’s nest, no knots, no frizz, nothing. SOLD!!! I haven’t used a flat iron since, except to curl my hair for special occasions. My new morning hair routine = shower, blow dry using my fingers to comb through(takes about 6 minutes). I can’t thank Gina enough for transforming my hair & making my busy life so much easier! Love you, G!!!

Gina is the BEST! I’ve been going to her for 5 or 6 years now. She is the only one I will trust my hair with. Yes, you do call in and have to leave a voice message to book an appointment, but they always calls back right away and fit me in. The staff is always very kind and very attentive to all of their customers. The place has a very relaxing vibe as well. Not to mention my hair always looks great. Thanks Enve!

woohoo! sonya rocks. long or short, she does it all. i found sonya on citysearch 2 years ago when i had been growing my dark brown crazy curly hair out from a pixie. i had read reviews that she was great with curly hair and wanted to give her a try. i would say that it got to be about chin length and for 6 months she did a great job of making sure the grow-out did not turn into one huge mushroom shape, and for that i am forever thankful. however… as one does when they have had short hair for a while, i freaked out and decided that i needed it all chopped off. i wanted it short! the halle berry pixie and i get along. i will admit that i was a bit apprehensive about this since i did not know how sonya did with *really* short hair, but let me tell you she gives great cuts. she really takes into consideration things like the shape of your face, the shape of your head, and the level of maintenance you are willing to spend on your personal upkeep. i have now been seeing her every 6 weeks or so and i have not only gotten a great cut EVERY time, but somehow as it grows out it keeps its shape nicely too. and for those of you with short hair, you know that your wig can start to get poofy or weird quick. oh, she also covers my gray hairs and somehow knows that a lighter shade works. i always went darker; who knew?! all in all she is just a fantastic cutter, colorist, and a good person. her rates are very reasonable for nyc(i think it’s $ 90 for a haircut and about the same for a color). when i lived in SF it was more, which seems odd to me. when i move back to SF i am going to have to fly her out to cut my hair. sheesh that’s going to be spendy.

i discovered this place on citysearch and since I lived down the street I thought I’d give it a shot. Although it was a bit irritating to get an appointment because you have to leave a message and they have to call you back and I kept missing their calls! Either way though, it was worth it. When I walked in I was greeted warmly by Angela who was a total sweetheart and she offered me a drink. I got a glass of red wine and only had to wait a few minutes for Glen to come get me. I told him exactly what I wanted and he did exactly what I asked with no surprises, except that my hair looked awesome and he cut it like no one before! He made my longer length look interesting, not an easy feat. I recommend this place to anyone who likes to chat with their hairdresser and have a nice glass of wine to relax after a day of work.
