I wasn’t expecting much from a place in a train station, even if it was at the LIRR station, but even like that they managed to disappoint me. My boyfriend and I ordered beef empanadas that they praised themselves for on a little sign outside of the«diner,» that read«deliciosas empanadas» or something like that. As we walked out on our way to our train, we took a big bite of… COLDMEAT wrapped in very greasy dough. We went back, told them what happened, they took it back to reheat it, but still was a bit cold the second time. We just threw it out. The two stars is only because of the location, because they renovated and because they sell good sandwiches, but the ones they have in the freezer, I don’t know(or want to know) if they make good sandwiches.

Okay laa1 for a European crossiant of ham and cheese at $ 3.25 on the go. This Europan Café sits on the LIRR concourse level. Not much sweetness in wetting my appetite here.

Hey! I finally found a place that serves breakfast burritos in Manhattan! And it wasn’t awful! Yay! The«burrito supreme» includes a small coffee and will set you back a little over $ 5. Totally worth the cost when it comes to sheer mass of food. By the time the cook was done with constructing it, my breakfast took on the semblance of a brick. Biting into it revealed the as-expected scrambled eggs, cheese, sausage patty, and home fries medley. Disappointingly, however, there was no salsa as indicated by the menu. While it was moist enough, in and of itself, I could have definitely used some kind of zesty kick to amp up the flavor. Pretty good eats as far as breakfast-on-the-go is concerned in Penn Station…

I usually walk by this place when I get off the LIRR. I «had» to stop in yesterday. I noticed they were making a egg white veggie omelet on whole wheat bread that looked kick azz! I’m taking off a star because the coffee tasted like it could take the paint off my car…

I only go here for bagels and coffee during my morning commute, but it serves those needs well. The bagels are very tasty, and have a hint of sweetness that many other bagels don’t have, and Europan has a lot of good spreads to go with them. The service is fast and efficient, and the guys who prepare my bagel are friendly(because of this I usually give them a tip, which is fine by me since this place is pretty cheap).
