I visited Felicia Michelle on 5÷27÷16 and had a wonderful experience. Although this was my first appointment, Felicia was warm, inviting and fun! I felt like I’ve known her forever. She does not double book, which is a huge bonus for me. I cannot stand how some salons will sit you under the dryer for hours while they work on other clients. I felt like I had her full attention and care, but I was also done in a very reasonable amount of time. My ends were in terrible shape, which I was nervous about since that typically results in hair that is too short and me in tears. But we talked about how I wanted to keep as much length as possible, and Felicia actually listened. I ended up with a good amount of length, healthier ends, a great cut and more reasons why I will be returning. She is simply a great person and stylist. I want to also add that having been to MANY of the natural hair salons in NYC, I found the $ 95 price tag for a haircut to be super practical.

Everything I said in my previous review was correct, I did however felt like I should come back and update my review because like I said she is a little pricey. I paid $ 95 for a cut and she cut my hair VERY uneven. When it was styled curly like u saw in the picture it was hard to notice until the curls drop. I only have a picture of when I washed my hair (im transitioning) and it reverted back. In the picture u can clearly tell it’s very uneven, the cut wasn’t properly done. I am aware that she «layered» my hair but their are short pieces everywhere and one side is more layered than the other. This is by far the worst cut I ever received. The only reason I’m not completely upset is because I am transitioning and all that hair is going to go anyway and now that my hair is shorter it’s easier for me to manage with the two textures. But at the same time if your pay $ 95 for a service, its supposed to be done correctly. My review still stands on the experience but the actual hair cut itself was terrible.

On ⁵⁄₁₉ was my second experience with Felicia Michelle. My first was back in January when I did the my BIG CHOP! Both experiences Amazing!
She’s very knowledgeable in healthy and natural hair care. Both times she educated me on my hair type and gave recommendations on the products I should use, to achieve the look I was going for.
The atmosphere of the salon, quiet, relaxing, and most of all private. (Something I truly enjoyed, considering I wasn’t comfortable with my hair transformation on my first visit) Also she’s conveniently located in Harlem. Near the B, C,2, & 3 subway lines.
Lastly, I was impressed with her level of service. She was professional, and I have already recommended her to my friends and family.

I decided to transition about 6 months ago and after trying to manage it on my own, I decided that wasn’t of benefit to me or my hair! After taking months to look for a hairstylist who could handle relaxed/​transitioning/​natural hair, I came across Felicia’s Unilocal page and reviews and decided to get over my anxiety about a new hairstylist and reached out for my 1^st appointment. That was super easy and can be done online. Once I got there, all I was hoping was that I would love her as much as it seemed everyone else did — and I’m so lucky and excited that I did! I love that it’s by appt. so you won’t spend all day there — the timing on her site are accuare, she can manage my very fragile transitioning hair, my hair looks great afterwards and she is so cool, professional and personable! She has found a regular customer in me, for sure!

Felicia Michelle is very knowledgeable about natural hair and products. She was able to transform my dull black hair to bright shiny highlighted hair with layered body. After trusting various hair stylists to color my hair and who didn’t meet my expectations, I was little skeptical but Felicia Michelle met and exceeded that expectation with her coloring skills. She is very professional and gives good advice about hair care. She was comfortable to speak to and her salon was very intimate which made it easier discuss hair and relatable topics. I will definitely recommend her to my friends.

Felicia is very a professional and hospitable stylist. She was very attentive to my needs and also advised me wisely on what she felt would be good for my hair, she was fast and though my weave was tight and it was also painless. She was very open to any ideas I had and ensured I left the store feeling satisfied, she also checked in with me two days later to make sure I was happy with my style or needed anything else. Thank you Felicia for giving me a pleasant experience especially since I just moved to New York.

Felicia is an amazing stylist! She’s very knowledgeable and experienced with how to properly condition, style, and care for all types of hair. And on top of all of that, she’s incredibly friendly, fun, and chill! It’s always a great time when I get my hair done with her. I highly recommend Felicia!

Yesterday was my first time in this salon, it was a great experience. I already had a short haircut, however I decided to do a pixie cut (literally shave at all of it off) & go a little blonde. I love my new cut and the service was great !!! Definitely going back!

Felicia was wonderful. I had an emergency on ⁴⁄₁₈ and she worked her schedule around to accommodate. She is knowledgeable about hair, listened to my concerns and came up with a solution that this picky person loved. I typically change my weaves every 3 weeks. Rather thank take advantage of this fact she showed me how I can get longer ware out of my hair and save money. So happy to have found her and will continue to use her moving forward.

I went for my first visit last week Saturday and as soon as I got there we were able to talk about my hair and I was able to explain the damage to my hair and asked her is there any thing she could do it help with all the heat damage and she did. This salon was amazing very clean and she is very knowledgeable and had a great personality. She took her time with my hair and I didn’t have to tell her anything she just knew her job very well. I can’t wait to go back!

Just called to schedule and appointment and this salon is pricey it should not be 95 $ to cut hair off like that crazy I also mention that I was already going to have my hair freshly washed but she want to wash it like anything to get 95 $ wow thanks but no thanks

I visited Felicia 04/​/​05/​and it was one of the best hair styling services I’ve had. I was in-​and-​out in less that 1.5 hours.
Felicia did a quick valuation of my hair and could automatically tell what kind of condition my hair was in (which was healthy with a bit of trimming needed).
Why she’s so great: I initially came in wanting a trim + twist out. I had a good idea of how much the trim was going to cost but wasn’t too sure of the added cost of the twist out. After she did my trim, she let me know how much more the twist out would cost. See, most salons/​hairstylists will give you the price of everything at the end of your service when you’re already at the cash register thinking you’re about to pay a reasonable amount when in reality you’re paying an arm & a leg. I opted for just a trim and style.

I visited Felicia on ³⁄₁₀ and had a great experience. I recently moved to NYC from DC and have had trouble finding someone to straighten/​style my natural hair without resulting in a ton of heat damage (i.e. Dominican salons). Plus I was in dire need of a trim, it had been 6 months since my last one… eek!
I easily booked my appointment with Felicia online and was warmly welcomed as soon as I arrived. I loved that we were the only ones there at the time and that she had not double booked me with several other clients (we all know how that goes… ugh!) Felicia was very thorough in assessing my hair before getting started, asking what products I typically use, how I usually style my hair, etc. She was also very upfront about costs before she started the process especially since I added the trim. I really appreciated the time she took to better understand my hair routine and be transparent about what she was planning to do during the appointment.
The appointment itself was great. She was really thorough, yet quick and I was in and out in about an hour. Plus I left with beautiful bouncy curls, and healthy hair from an awesome trim. I received a ton of compliments! Will def be returning again!

I had a wonderful time at Felicia’s. I visited on ³⁄₉. I booked the appointment on her site the day before, so scheduling was easy.
For a long time I only went to the Dominican salons. Besides the language barrier, there’s also the fact that they tend to not be familiar with black hair, particularly natural hair. And their products often damage hair since they aren’t using the right ones. So for a little more money (reasonable and definitely not exorbitant like many other places charge), I went to someone that is actually very familiar and knowledgeable about black hair. I learned a lot about my hair, like how to properly wash it and other tips even after I would leave her studio. I love the way my hair looks and feels, and received many compliments on it. My hair was styled into a short natural fro. I could tell from the blowout (after wash) before the final style was done that she did an amazing job. I have never seen my natural hair look so healthy and nice. Definitely makes me want to maintain better than I’ve been doing.
It was a very welcoming atmosphere, a plus for someone shy like me. Like other reviewers have noted, she gives you thorough advice for your hair and not just the bare minimum (what others do in an attempt to force you to come back). Another plus for someone like me who hasn’t taken good care of my hair (and barely knew how to)! Ironically, no pressure being put on you is what compels you to come back. I will definitely be back, even if just for a trim!
Whether its amazon or Unilocal,I read all reviews. I came to her after reading the reviews on Unilocal (even the «not recommended» ones– it’s a red flag to me if the featured reviews are stellar but the hidden ones aren’t. For Felicia, there were five stars all across the board!)

I decided to visit Felicia based off the reviews I’ve read on Unilocal.For starters, she was very easy to schedule with. I received an confirmation shortly after via text and from that, I had a feeling I was in good hands. I got to my appointment about 10 – 15 mins late and she was so understanding. I sat down and described my hair, the style I wanted (I needed a cut badly) and the products I was currently using. From there, Felicia offered her honest opinions and a style suggestion based off what I described myself wanting and what was necessary for my hair.
We had an easy conversation about a mix of topics and I felt extremely comfortable and confident the entire time I was there. She described everything that she was doing and I appreciated being up to speed with the process. The end result is fabulous. About 3 – 4 inches were cut off, but it is so worth it! As soon as my friends and family saw me the next day, the complimented my style (a longer bob). Most of the heat damage has been removed and I am excited to continue the process of regaining my healthy hair!

Love the cut and style Felicia did on my natural hair. I’m glad after finding her on style seat and Unilocal that I was able to book an appointment. Prompt communication. Accommodating to schedule. Asks many questions to assure she understands what your looking for. Loved the interest she took in my hair care routine, and the suggestions she made once observing my hair in person. Clean and comfortable salon environment. Easily accessible. A rare gem, and great addition to upper manhattan. Will definitely return in a few weeks.

Felicia is everything I wanted her to be. Professional, knowledgable, inviting, and a spectacular stylist. She provided an experience that is worth another visit. I’m overly joy to have finally meet a stylist who I can confidently say I love, and can’t wait to see for my next do! She’s amazing!!! #gotmysexyback!!!

Ok so this review is about 6 months overdue:).
I was browsing around online a few months ago in search of a new hair stylist as my old salon raised their rates. I was looking for quality work at a reasonable price. I found Felicia on Unilocal and booked an appointment on Styleseat The process is super easy.
I was thinking this is almost to good to be true, getting my hair done in the comfort of my own home without breaking the bank.
When Felicia arrived I was instantly at ease. She is clearly very knowledgeable in her craft, and she educated me on hair care and products to use, as I was on my journey to going natural.
Since then Felicia has moved to a station in the Chaz Upscale salon in Harlem that I have also visited. Beautiful salon where she is right at home.
If you are searching for a stylist, as I was a few months ago, your search stops here. If you have a weave, want a weave, are transitioning or are fully natural. Felicia does it all!

Last minute, I was looking for a stylist for my birthday and I decided to look on Unilocal.Unilocal raters are brutal, so when someone has 5 stars, that person has my attention. So naturally, like the true Pisces that I am, I got suspicious and I decided to do my research and get the dirty on Felicia Michelle. Man… I spent two hours searching and this woman is clean… squeaky clean. If you read the comments under Hair Rules (a salon in NYC), you’ll find that some of the reviews mention Felicia in a positive light. Unilocalers advised people not to let anyone, but Felicia wash their hair. Hello?! Need I say more? No, but I will.
So, afterwards, I make contact and we set up an appointment. Still, I was nervous because I trust no one when it comes to my hair. Afterall, I am transitioning. I didn’t want a year and a half of hard work and patience going down the drain. March 6^th (appointment day) arrives and my husband informs me that he sees Felicia downstairs. I say 3 Hail Maries and I finally meet her. She gave me a consultation and we discussed hair goals. She made recommendations for my hair care régime and then we got started. No lie, we were done in an hour flat, like she stated she would be.
She was knowledgeable, informative, and pleasant. So, I set up my appointment for the following week. It’s about time I settle down and practice hair stylist monogamy because… I think I found the one.
