It took the staff a few minutes to even acknowledge the fact that we were waiting in line to order(they seem to be preoccupied with talking to each other about another order). We asked them what the saumon fume on the menu was and they couldn’t even tell us what it was or what was on it. When we finally figured out that it was smoked salmon on brioche, we asked politely if we could change the brioche for a croissant, which they said that they couldn’t do and it could only be ordered as is. We were happy to pay an upcharge so I said that I would buy a croissant and if they could just serve the brioche on the side and put the salmon on the croissant instead, it shouldn’t be a problem. Serving a sandwich with a different type of bread was too much for them, they still said no. In retrospect, I could have ordered the croissant and moved everything from the brioche to the croissant myself, but then I would have had to ask for them to put sauce on the side and leave everything disassembled which clearly seemed more inconvenient for everyone. The order took forever on top of that. I will never come back and would not recommend this place to anyone. Long wait, uneducated staff, subpar food.

I have been living in the area for 6 years and would come here often. Over the last few years the service and staff have gone downhill. The manager that is there now is terrible, and is the most un friendly person. The staff that takes the orders do not say please or thank you and are constantly just talking to each other. If you want good coffee and pastries GOSOMEWHERE else. There are plenty of good places in the area that offer good service!!!

I always get coffee and a chocolate éclair. It’s one of the best in NYC. The place has a nice seating area, almost always empty, very clean toilet, and a nice selection of pastries. The service though is a hit or miss. And one time the girl behind the counter got my éclair with her bare hands, no tissue or gloves. Some times when im with people and order more they offer to bring it to the table, some times they don’t!!! If im gonna rate it based on service i would give it one star. i like it because its clean, nice and quiet. Update: The people who work here are going to bring this place down hell. The place is always left dirty and the tables are often left uncleaned and uncleared. And when u leave a tip in the tip jar they don’t even say thank you! I dont have to leave 50% tip for a cup of tea but i do, at least don’t ignore it! Here you go! Buy the time i wrote this update so far 3 people walked in from the street and used the bathroom! Install a lock for god’s sake! The bathroom is open to everyone who walks from the street! I have seen people come from the back door and use it and leave. One time two paying customers(man and woman) went inside together… did their thing for 15 m and cane out lol Why do u have cameras then! Sometimes its dirty beyond dirty! Food and pastry still worth buying from here.

Sadly this location has gone downhill since it opened. My favorite breakfast of what used to be a hefty slice of tasty quiche and salad with tangy lemon dressing with silver style ware has been replaced with a small circle of bland flavored quiche and the salad dressing was oddly sweet and served with plastic– horrors– ware, even though i dined there. I sent the plastic back, to the disgust of my server. Please shape up, Financier.

Our favourite Patisserie in our neighbourhood; Le Financier provides a piece of Paris in Midtown-East. We love their flourless chocolate cookies(always take a packet home) and delicious pastries, particularly the apple almond tart(quite sweet but delicious)! Their fresh croissants are also yummy.

LOOOOOOOOOVE this place. Their hot chocolate is made SO authentically, with hot milk and dark chocolate chips. I always ask them to add a pump of white chocolate to sweeten it up a bit. The chocolate croissants here are orgasmic, as well as most of their other pastries. The Opera cake, the chocolate flourless cookie, everything. Amazing.

Went here on a whim since I had a lot of time before meeting someone. The location is nice and the lighting was very inviting. Friendly staff and items are on the pricey side. The location is very clean and the bright colored décor made it feel very comfy and homey. Lots of glass windows make it good to peer out. In the back is a seating area with wait staff. There is an assortment of quick and easy foods such as one might find in a continental breakfast and simple gourmet sandwiches. The chocolate croissant was very tasty and good. The iced tea was very weak and it tasted of just plain iced down tap water.

Three people in the shop and it took 15 minutes to make a cappuccino that was as diluted as a diluted americano.

Best location in New York City for macarons that are fresh and reasonably priced. I usually only purchase macarons from Financier, so this review is only for that product.

Totally horrible — food, service and manager! I used to go with my friend for lunch, buy flan(only place in Manhattan that has french flan with crust), macarons, pastries — NOMORE! I was charged $ 1.50 for a piece of bread at lunch, food is nooo good! So I decided to let manager know. The email exchange lasted months because it would take weeks before I got an answer! Then I was promised a lunch that I never got(not looking for a free lunch, really!) — My friend who used to buy lattes and have brunch there a lot got a gift card because she also told the manager that the food sucks and it really does. Sunday at around 5:00PM, we decided to give it another chance — The back room was empty and HOT — I wanted a flan but was told that they were not making flan anymore! I ordered a hot chocolate that was soooo strong that even with more half and half, I could not drink it. They had run out of whipped cream! The apple tart was very good, though. So I feel this place is on the way out — it was dirty, staff not so great — My friend and I are done with this place.

I used to really enjoy going here with my kids, you get get coffee and snacks and sit in the back. They use to only have table service on the weekends but now they have table service all the time. Recently we went to have brunch there and was told by the server in the back we couldn’t sit in the empty room because we have two strollers and they get busy. There was one table being used so we convinced her that we could sit in the corner and not be a problem for her. The entire time we were there no more that 3 tables of people were eating at any time and when the next family came with a stroller they were turned away. So if your looking for a low key kid friendly place try Le pain because Financier doesn’t want you and your kids.

If you love your coffee don’t buy here. It’s not bad but very far from a real enjoyable late.(They are equivalent to a Starbucks coffee beans)

Cute tiny place with delicious coffee and desserts. Perfect reward for having to drive into Manhattan on business! Did I mention the macaroons are the size of your palm!

I loved this place and I would come here about two times a week for breakfast. Well not any more. The changes are awful! The manager is rude and my eggs were a frozen NASA prepared sponge, very gross!!! This is coming from someone who never leaves a bad review. I am Never coming back! I rate you a big ZERO!

The pistachio macaron was large but unremarkable, glad it was subsidized by a LevelUp credit for referring Financier. Staff was friendly and efficient. Transaction Amount $ 2.75 Credit Applied — $ 2.75

For the food I would give this 5 stars. Sadly, a couple issues I have had with them knocks it down a couple stars. I eat here a lot because it is convenient to my apartment and the food is great. I order their apple cider almost every time I’m there but for the last 3 weeks, they have charged me more than what the tv menu says is the price. I bring it to not only the cashiers attention(who couldn’t care less), but to the manager on duty. Every single time, they say«sorry, they haven’t updated the monitor with the new prices.» I feel this is completely unacceptable and is unethical. Either change the prices on your menu, or charge me the price displayed. It shouldn’t take a month to update on a digital screen! I have ordered food to go several times. Not a single time has it been correct(I don’t order any special requests, either). So I have learned to check my order before heading home and suggest you do the same. Their quiche is delicious. Their desserts are, as well. Great breakfast spot with tables in the back. Just double check what they are charging you before you pay — it’s not always the prices displayed. Some staff are very pleasant and nice. There are a couple that couldn’t care less about you.

They gave a tiny madeleine for free for a cup of Mocchacino I ordered. The Danish is not bad. It’s a walking distance from my friend’s apartment, so it wasn’t a bad choice. For the price, it was expensive for a student on a budget like me. Well, it’s New York.

On a rainy Friday afternoon, everyone seems a bit low-spirited. So I decided to go to Financier for some pastries to share with coworkers and cheer fellows up. Guess what, they’ve got this exotic, beautiful and delicious petit bites package(all fancy desserts/pastries). Perfect! I got the box and before even going back to the office building, already receiving compliments. Financier’s packaging is just soooooo classy, u know ^.~ Tiramisu, fraisier, berry tartlette, cheesecake dome, sacher torte, chocolate mousse… god you name it. I personally love Éclair a lot. Anyways I will go back there for sure. Financier, in my opinion, is the best chain bakery in town. Their stuff is top-notched. The only reason I’m not giving it a five star is because this particular store is so tiny, and service could obviously be improved, aka, they are not super friendly or try to make you feel welcome.

I go here for decent coffee. And since I’ve tried the patisserie I also return for that ;) Having moved from Europe to US I often miss a decent espresso. Here I can prevent to go cold turkey. The coffee is really good be it espresso, double espresso or cappuccino. The staff is nice, you can sit at a high table and look out though the windows on the streets or have a seat a the bistro like tables. Or simply take it out. I tried the strawberry-passionfruit cake/mousse and a chocolate mouse covered in chocolate(yes, I admit, I am part-time chocoholic). Both were delicious! Somewhere around park avenue is another branch but I only go here. I is so calm and cosy. Oh, only one downside: you order at the register even if you sit down. That is not really French. But they bring you your order at the table and you do not have to wait for it at the register.

The desserts here are memorable and decently priced. This place is 2 blocks away from my apt, and is my go to dessert shop when I’m craving a pastry or 4. Maybe that’s why it’s so hard for me to loose weight? They dish out some of the freshest desserts. You can get your chocolate, strawberry, caramel fix here. Most of their desserts are displayed in a glass show case. I don’t think there are labels on them, so if something catches your eye just ask someone behind the counter for help. There some goodies that are within your reach(ie. macarons, cookies). The line can get a bit crazy and everyone behind the counter is a bit frantic. This is why they get a 1 star deduction. A long line is to be expected at any good place but I really wish they were more organized here. With some patience, eventually you will be helped and on your way to some great desserts. Their desserts will satisfy your sweet tooth.
