History
Established in 1979.
Flamenco Latino brings a unique Neo Yorkino injection to the art form through collaboration with tap dancers, Latin and jazz musicians, and involvement in theater pieces. Through its broad programming of adult and children’s classes, it offers its most talented students a path from the classroom to the stage, not only through recitals, but also through concert and local performance opportunities. As the première Flamenco Center in NYC, Flamenco Latino hosts both US– based and Spain-based guest artists, produces recitals and concerts in its alternative theater, and provides the New York City flamenco dance community a rental studio where damage to dance floors and sound bleed to other commercial spaces is not a prohibitive issue.

Business Owner
Guitarist/singer Basilio Georges brings a broad yet distinct background to his work with Flamenco Latino. His experience as both a Flamenco guitarist and as a Salsa musician give him a dual perspective and a clear advantage for producing compositions with authenticity as a goal. Basilio has studied guitar in Madrid, Seville, and New York and has accompanied such artists as Rafael Fajardo and Concha Vargas in the U. S; La Tati, Faico, Ciro, and Manolete in dance studios; and many canta’ores such as Juanele de jerez, Marcelino Sanchez and Antonio Benamargo in various Flamenco peñas in Madrid. His guitar work was featured in the soundtrack of Almodovar’s «High Heels» and he participated in the 1992 Broadway revival of «Man of La Mancha.» Basilio is on the staff at Ballet Hispanico and also teaches guitar, Flamenco ensemble and cante at Flamenco Latino.
