amazing hospitality from arnon and nick, and the whole team. environment is warm and inviting. you order the food at the front and sit down and they bring to you. the difficult part is deciding what to get. their standouts: chai latte, tuna salad, avocado toast, and scrambled egg sandwich. i cant remember the last time i wanted to eat tuna salad but i was singing a different tune here at gotan, the toast that came with the salad had a light and refreshing spread on it. i dont even live in the neighborhood but made a point to come to tribeca to check this place out. great for kids, a couple, or a fun group for brunch. come back to try the full menu(run dont walk before this place becomes too well known as THE brunch spot!)

Super cute aesthetic. Good for individuals or for small to medium groups(I’d say don’t bring more then 4ish unless it’s off-peak time). It is definitely a restaurant, but it seems possible to just get coffee and do some work at one of the big tables or window seats. Free wifi. Herbed omelette sandwich is a solid portion, and like $ 7. Filled with veggies. Gluten free options available.

Great atmosphere and music selection. Strong and aromatic coffee, but slightly overpriced for a takeout coffee. For sit-in, it’s fine.

Family friendly. Quiet and very spacious! Coffee is great and they don’t charge you ridiculously like other places in soho.

Great tasting healthy food, good music, fast Wi-Fi. What’s not to love? Maybe the prices… and the all day laptop Wi-Fi abusers.

Was in town for work and staying at the Conrad hotel(nearby), looking for a place to get a bite to eat and some coffee, read some Unilocal reviews and decided on Gotan. Based on a review that said the herb omelet sandwich was yummy as was the coffee, I ordered that sandwich and a café american. Both were delicious, the sandwich especially so! I’m not sure what exactly was in it, but it had a very enjoyable tanginess that really put it over the top. The portion was reasonable and filled me up. Coffee was also very enjoyable and smooth. Definitely would go back for the same again!

I came here for a quick lunch during an all day conference nearby and was pleasantly surprised.(I’ll have to add this to my lunch rotation when I can make the trek over!) Prices are reasonable, I ordered the herb omelette sandwich which was only $ 7 for a large, filling portion. The eggs themselves are semi-soft scrambled, making them creamy and extremely fluffy. They are jam-packed with a variety of fresh herbs, leeks being one of the flavors I could pick up easily. The bread it’s served on looks like it will be a tough and chewy baguette, but it’s actually wonderfully crusty on the outside and pillowy soft within. Before adding the eggs to the sandwich, they add an awesome tomato jam to it, so each bite is creamy, herb-y and tangy. Service was very fast(even during a busy lunch rush), the place is clean and the staff is friendly. I cannot wait to come back!

Across the board winner. Fantastic menu! Will definitely be back to try the rest of Gotan’s menu, especially their coffee. I was here for a lunch and had the zesty, fresh, green, just-the-right-amount-of-filling, beet salad. All of their salad options sounded delicious(I was choosing between the beet and fattoush salads) and my friend’s sandwich looked great too. The décor and layout is airy yet warm, like a Pret location with dim lighting and all wooden seating. Two of the restaurant’s walls are floor-to-ceiling glass and look out onto the street. Can see myself drinking coffee and doing work, taking frequent breaks to zone out and people watch. Bonus points for a well kept restroom.

This place had an amazing ambiance and cute décor! The food was fresh and delicious! I got the Tuna Salad looking to eat more greens than fish but the ratio just wasn’t there… Too much fish… Even though it was still quite yummy. A bit on the pricier side but the portions are pretty good for this area. Also got an iced tea. Way over priced for such little drink but it was refreshing and good! If you’re in this area and looking for fresh, delicious food, this is it. If you’re looking to save money, this ain’t it… You should also probably just avoid this whole area hah!

Who knew a coffee shop like this existed in this city? Spacious, warm, calm, and relaxing — all you have to do is pick your favorite seat in the place. Brick walls, potted plants, wooden tables, tiled ceilings — love it.(I know, I’m a sucker for atmosphere.) The service is super friendly. The coffee is extremely smooth. The food is great. I think I’ll keep this loyalty card in my wallet.

Really good salad. The tuna, egg and avocado is a big portion. The seasonal soup was so so good. Little on the pricy tho.

A nice, comfortable spot in SoHo to grab a cup of coffee and catch up with friends. Several large communal tables and a few smaller, more intimate tables. Several coffee options including espresso drinks and pour over. Food options are limited, but thoughtful and tasty. I had the brunch special which was Bacon Ragu with spicy kale. Good flavors and value. Staff was very pleasant, polite, and genuine.

I love this place! Why? Because I love beets and they have the most amazing beet salad; with red and golden ones, too! Why else? Because it’s an incredibly chill spot to bring my books and study, with great big communal tables, open airy lighting and plenty of outlets. Anything else? Because they have a delicious menu, stocked with soups, sandwiches, salads, pastries and coffee to stave off my hunger needs. And? Because there’s this one girl who works there who has the best-est attitude. Ever. And her bright, happy-go-lucky attitude is totally contagious. I’ve been here a couple of times since I first discovered this little gem a couple of weeks ago, and I can’t wait to go back to try more food items. Their setup is pretty great, you just go to the front and after you order, they’ll give you a number that you put on whichever table you chose. Water is self service, which is great! Just grab a glass and fill her up, by the coffee bar. The only thing is, I wish they were open a little later on Friday nights(quitting time is 5pm, apparently). A place this good should be open for longer!

That’s it. I’m sold. I am a sucker for bougie coffee shops, but as such have high standards. There is a fine line between being discerning and being obnoxious and few can toe it. The folks at Gotan were gracious and helpful with a sense of humor. I was feeling punchy and so I asked a lot of questions about the menu, perhaps a little tongue in cheek. After much back and forth, the guys were helpful and accommodating and offered to let me try a bunch of things. The highlight for me was a thing called a Cortado. I am rarely surprised by a coffee drink, but this one was genuinely perfect for me. Exactly what I was after. Two thumbs up to Gotan. I’ll definitely be back.

Pros: lots of room, expansive menu, knowledgeable staff that you won’t usually get at Starbucks. Smells GREAT in here — who knew the combination of coffee and sandwiches could do such wonderful things for your nose? Rotating coffees every day and flavorful cold brew. Con: slow service. Having enjoyed their coffee so much, I tried their chai latte. I was disappointed to find that they use the pre-packaged sugary stuff; figured theirs would be more natural.

This corner café is very cute and reasonably priced. The service was prompt at about noon on a Saturday. We had the Chai latte, single pour, ham sandwich, feta avocado toast, and Greek yogurt with granola. All the dishes were solid. I really enjoyed the yogurt. It had honey drizzled on the yogurt and a variety of fresh fruit. The toast was interesting… maybe a bit too overpowered with avocado. However I find it hard to complain that they gave us too much of a good thing. Our total was $ 35.

What a pleasant surprise! What used to be a mediocre coffee-stop for NYLS law students, is now a great breakfast and lunch spot. The new management revamped the entire menu and space and is offering a great new option for locals. They have loads of outdoor seating on the corner of Varick and Franklin– a major plus for those with dogs! There isn’t much of a view, I’d say, but it’s quintessentially NYC with a view of the tip of the Freedom tower, a row of Citibikes, and lots of peak hour traffic. I’ve only been to Gotan once, early on a Sunday morning when not much else was open. We ordered at the counter and was asked to seat ourselves after being handed an order number. After a few minutes, another employee comes looking for you and your table with the prepared food. This particular morning, I stuck with breakfast basics and ordered an almond croissant, granola & yogurt, and an herb omelette breakfast sandwich. It was a lot cheaper than expected, let me say. Everything exceeded my expectations! The almond croissant had to be one of the best croissants I’ve had in America. And they added flax and sunflower seeds into the granola and yogurt. It added lots of extra flavor, a major plus, to what would have been a boring, semi-healthy, nutritious meal. The herb sandwich was served between humongous 6-inch baguette. The omelette itself wasn’t overcooked, so the egg was a little bit gooey. Perfect! I will definitely be back.

Gotan NY Manhattan TriBeCA 4pm Thursday 25th June 2015 Four Stars I have passed their store front hundreds on times while walking my puppy to the pier 25 dog run. On this long day, I just need some ice coffee. I stopped in and there was a small army of employees. Apparently it’s an actual café/restaurant. I had a cold brew($ 4.08) to go. It came in the standard clear plastic cup with cold draft ice. The coffee was amazing. It had overall tanginess but with under layers of butterscotch and citrus. I can’t wait to try it again.

Food here is decent for the area. It’s always been a bit of a cognitive dissonance to see the huge price differences between Chinatown and its neighbor TriBeCa. I came into this café on a rainy day and asked about the sandwiches, so this review is solely based on that. I was craving meat after my workout and asked about the brisket and chicken sandwiches, with the ultimate recommendation that the brisket is good and has thanksgiving flavors because of the cranberry spread. I’ll admit that the sandwich itself was good in that it had crispy bread but not amazing and the cranberry taste was masked by whatever dairy sauce they added. The brisket was a bit dry but otherwise okay. Not worth $ 13($ 11 + tip) in my opinion. The service at this place is great though and they have wifi. I ended up working here for around 2 hours.
