WE’VE COME A LONG WAY SINCE 1978

For thirty-two years, Gotham Wines [at 94th and Broadway in New York City?] has offered a superbly edited selection of wines and spirits from the U.S., Europe, South America, South Africa, Israel, and Greece, as well as emerging wine hot spots, such as India and Brazil. Our collection reflects our Upper West Side base: primarily mid-range in price and eclectic in its tastes. For the adventurous customer or for special occasions, we also stock a small collection of expensive and rare wines and spirits. Gotham is more than a neighborhood store, it’s an education in [OR an introduction to] the great world of wine and spirits.

Meet the Manager

Costas M.

Manager

Wine has always been a part of Costas’s life. From early childhood in Cyprus, pruning, harvesting and stomping grapes in the family vineyard, to making homemade grappa, Costas was born with a fascination for how wine is made and develops, and how it brings people together. Today, Costas successfully runs a Manhattan wine store where he has set many new trends. He frequently lectures on wine to food industry professionals and amateurs, and is a regular radio show guest wine expert presenting real, down-to-earth, straightforward descriptions of wine and how it is one of life’s wonderful indulgences. To keep in touch with what’s new, what to stock and what to recommend to his loyal following, Costas tastes 25 to 30 wines per week. Costas believes that wine should be enjoyed in moderation, but definitely imbibed!
