Worst Customer Service! Nothing Gracious about this store. Do Not Shop Here if you need any type of assistance. I have been living across the street, and shopping there for over ten years, and rarely had a decent customer service experience in the store. On my final visit today, for paint, I waited over 35 minutes for someone in hardware to assist me and even though they have 7 men working in the area, they chose to ignore my requests and help only men requiring assistance in that section. As a woman, I was highly offended and went to the register to speak to anyone to get assistance and they ignored me over customers checking out, though I loudly requested help several times. Never again will I shop at this overpriced, sexist, and unprofessional store. You have lost my business, and are a waste of valuable real estate. Rather walk to Home Depot. If I could give zero stars I would.

Have shopped here for more than a decade but just had that loyalty repaid with dishonesty. Yesterday, their computers were down and they manually took down customers’ credit card numbers and email addresses but didn’t manually tote up the sale nor did they quote the total cost (guess they don’t know how to figure out sales tax with a calculator?). One item I bought was on a 50% off table. Imagine my surprise when I got the bill emailed to me today and it was for the full price. I called them to dispute the charge and they denied that it was on sale even though they acknowledged that it was on the 50% off table and the salesperson confirmed that it was on sale. So for $ 21 dollars and change, they just lost a customer and gained another bad review. Bad business.

This place used to be really excellent, the place to go when you really needed an expert, or high quality items. I went in recently to get two copies of a key and the guy clearly didn’t care — he made me two copies from TWO DIFFERENT blanks (he didn’t think I noticed) and when I pointed it out he told me he wasn’t sure they would work but he wouldn’t charge me! I also just ordered a custom door handle which came with the wrong mounting bolts three times! And I’m still waiting despite weeks having gone by. You’re better off ordering online or going to Home Depot.

Overpriced for the items that they have in the store that you can probably find out another stores for half or even a third of the price of what gracious homes priced it out

4 weeks after I filed a complaint, a customer service manager contacted me and apologized for the delay in the response today, saying the department just discovered my e-​mail. She asked me what they could do to mend this situation. While I said it’s ok, she suggested/​and processed the full return of the expedited shipping fee plus 10% of the item price. More prompt response would have been nice, but I appreciate their efforts to make things right.

Gracious Home noted my complaints to their Customer Service Department and, apparently, the Unilocal review. They followed up with me by phone, addressed the problem with the folks responsible for mistakenly shipping the gifts with price tags attached and without gift boxes or wrapping. Gracious Home is sending out gift boxes under separate cover, issued me a credit and gift card with their apologies. They are clearly working hard to make things right, and I appreciate their prompt response.

–men came to measure and recommend the correct units. i bought the recommendation, over $ 5000 for 4 ac’s and installation.
— 2 weeks later same guys arrive, have to cut all the components that they already measured to fit the windows…
— they bring the incorrect btu’s units.
— can not reach anyone at gracious home to help…
–they (installers) are into 4 hours to install…
–still on hold with gracious home…
–one ac was installed incorrectly and rattles…
«that’s the way they sound!» except the other units are quite!!!

I furnished a good deal of user things for my new apartment here. Yes. It can be busy but I have never met with bad or stupid service. Usually remarkably pleasant and informed. I’ve never thought of returning anything. And, of course, a vast inventory. For special things, Scully & Scully, but for much, Gracious Home.

BEWARE. Save yourself the headache and avoid shopping here. I stopped in the East Side location to purchase a Moroccan pouf and was told that they had the item I was looking for at their West Side location. After waiting at the register for 20+ minutes while they tried to find the item — being passed from department to department — I was told that they had the item in «perfect condition» and would deliver it to my apartment by 5pm. I told them I wouldn’t be available after this time and was assured it would be there by 5pm, this was even noted on my receipt and in my «file.» I called them at 4:30pm to see when my item would arrive and Customer Service wasn’t able to get in touch with their deliverymen. The item did not arrive until 8pm. I had to cancel my evening plans as I sat around in my apartment and waited for the item to arrive with zero window. And, the best part, the item that arrived was pretty far from perfect condition — nail scratches in the leather and looks like it was dragged across the floor. Definitely quite poor condition for a pretty expensive item! I got in touch with their AWFUL customer service to ask that they pick up the damaged item and order me a brand new one given its condition. Customer Service did not even sound very apologetic! I was then told my damaged item would be picked up today around 6pm. It’s not almost 10pm and they’ve not shown up. Two days I’ve sat around waiting for Gracious Home to arrive. This should not be this difficult! I am now taking a cab to bring my heavy-​ish item to Gracious Home in the morning so I can get a refund on-​the-​spot. I will not be shopping here again. Save yourself the trouble and avoid shopping here. AWFUL.

Excellent customer service. I have never been disappointed with their staff. They have a wide variety of humidifiers, which was exactly what I was coming in for.

Further interaction with GH confirms, once again, they are absolutely the worst. There is a reason despite GH being geographically convenient I’ll almost always travel a distance to avoid dealing with GH.
Try buying a large item from them and see how that turns out for you.
They are seriously old school NYC and I mean that in the most negative way.

They sold (online) me some designer pieces (water jug, tea cups) as new but what i got were slightly worn out items and without any of the original packaging!

I have been a shopper here for ten years. Why do I put up with the terrible customer service, the worst in store shopping experience, rude employees, never get a call from delivery people or scheduler. Because they have the stuff you need for your apartment! They have the right appliances that fit (they come and measure before you can buy one), they have the better things that Best Buy and Home Depot don’t stock. Please get more and better staff in your stores. If I could find somewhere else to get the stuff I would be there. They have the market, unfortunately.

I have purchased several items from the store as they have lovely merchandise. However, I won’t buy there anymore. The staff is not helpful and actually downright rude!

I walked up 3^rd Ave. and realized the coolest humidifiers at the store window.
I had to go in and purchased one of the Objecto humidifiers.
Anyway go Gracious Home for introducing the coolest products!!!

One of the problems with this store is that is doesn’t quite know its mission… should it be the high service, friendly neighborhood store of old, or a chic high end boutique with requisite snotty or non existent service? As a result, every time I go there, I don’t know what I will find. In addition, it is rather a nuisance to figure out which store has what items, so there is a decent amount of crossing Third Avenue required unless you are super organized in advance.
In general, I find the service at Home Depot twice as good at half the price with ten times the selection, so I find myself shopping there more and more. Oddly, it seems that the GH associates who work in the less highbrow departments (shout out to the electric/​plumbing supply staff) are more service oriented than those who sell big ticket items.
I cannot tell you how many times I have gone into the store prepared to buy. And how many times I have walked out because I cannot get anyone to even make eye contact, let alone help. Clerks always seem to be busy doing paperwork or setting up displays or working with other customers 3 on 1 or MIA altogether. Once the cashiers in the back were so busy complaining about a previous customer that I had to jump up and down to let them know that I wanted to pay. I have also had to wait several times while someone answered the phone, giving priority NOT to the live customer who was there first.
My gut tells me that there is a lot of staff turnover and that morale isn’t great. Just a hunch. And I will also tell you that if you comment on the lack of service, the gentleman who is usually at the front register goes from totally indifferent to full on patronizing, in the most Disney-​esque of manners, which rankles even more.
Finally, please heed the warning of several posters below and DO NOT PLACE
A SPECIAL ORDER. What an awful experience that was, all for nothing.
Calls not returned, two different stories about why my item didn’t arrive (somebody had to be telling the truth, but not both), and lots of blaming the warehouse. I’ll spare you the details, but it was the worst special order experience I have had in a long time — shameful for any store, but particularly bad for what was very expensive merchandise. Simply put, GH doesn’t sell much that you can’t buy online, so save yourself a headache and do it yourself.

Terrible customer service. Dang, that woman I talked to today, 7÷10÷13, about pricing some roller blinds for my windows was extremely unpleasant. It was like pulling teeth!
I even gave them a second chance! See, a week earlier I went into the store on a Saturday and talked to somebody about roller blinds and they were indeed pains in the asses. One didn’t know nothin’ about nothin’ and the other was much too busy to help me.
Poor Gracious Homes is going out of business because I’m going to Home Depot.

This review is specifically about the paint department, although I did look briefly through the rest of the store and thought they had a rather thorough (although pricey) selection.
I just moved into a new apartment and wanted to find a new color for my bedroom. The lead of the paint department, Mo (or Moe), was EXTREMELY helpful. He knows everything about everything when it comes to paint, and was able to sit with me to sort through all the different colors I was considering, and then help me choose a final color (which I ended up loving by the way). And since I was going to paint it myself, he helped me select all the tools that I needed and gave me some tips and tricks. I’ll be going back shortly to pick out a color to paint a piece of furniture I have.
I highly recommend this location for your paint needs — based on the level of knowledge and the customer service. The price wasn’t bad either — for both the paint samples or the full gallons.

So this is where upper east siders shop for home products and appliances. Unfortunately, their stuff are way over my budget especially their bed and bath products. It’s extremely convenient for people living in the neighborhood since there is not a really close Bed Bath and Beyond store nearby… only if you can afford it. I came here once trying to find relatively affordable pillows and the sales clerk kept showing me these down pillows that costs $ 200 – 300 each. It never occurred to me that pillows could really cost that much so I was a bit shocked when the sales clerk smugly told me the price. I politely declined but she was obviously not impressed that she couldn’t get her commission for the day. But I’m sorry, I am not a wealthy UES resident and even if I am, I would never spend that much on pillows alone.

Seldom have I experienced such consistent awful customer service and so much jaw-​dropping incompetence. Every time I relent and give them another try they fail miserably once again. I’d be happy to go into specifics about the stupidity and laziness and apathy I’ve encountered but it would take too long in this forum.
What is especially galling is that when I call to speak to a manager or let someone know about the business they’re losing, they really don’t seem at all concerned. In this economy, when so many people are out of work, Gracious Home should make an effort to hire the right people, rain their people, and fire the grossly incompetent employees that are literally driving away business. (One example: I came in prepared to buy 3 air-​consitioners; I knew what brand and size etc. The salesman said that without specific model numbers he couldn’t help me at all. In other words, he wouldn’t sell me any air-​coniditioners unless I told him exactly the model I wanted and he could look it up on his little screen. I left and easily bought my A/​Cs at a competitor nearby.)
