Really not a great place to karaōke. I would recommend going to Chinatown and not sure what else is in K-Town. Biggest complaints are the song choices… when a song selection is bad, there is nothing that can overcome this at a Karaōke joint. No amount of service and strobe lights can save a place like this. The songs are very old. Also the music sounded just. weirdly fake. Like it wasn’t the actual song playing, just weird beats that matched the melody… I don’t know how to describe it. The music videos in the back are of random Korean dramas and really don’t match the songs, especially if you’re singing like«Drop it Like it’s Hot» and a cute Korean couple is sitting on a swingset in the background. The rooms are pretty solid though. The keyboard to control the karaōke is in Korean, so be prepared to take a Korean with you.

When in a pinch, Grand Karaōke isn’t the worst option, but it’s hardly as grand as the name. Reincarnated previously from Grammy Karaōke, it has remained among the lesser choices in the dime a dozen karaōke spots in KTown. Sitting a top of 24 hour spot Wonjo( ), it might as well also be 24⁄7 considering how late its open till(6am/7am). With some updated signage, Grand would seem like a place where its ultra modern and hip. But for those who’ve been to Grammy previously, there isn’t much of a change. The rooms are still semi-dingy and are priced per room(and not per head) and the entire venue is really one long hallway with a little less than 10 rooms of varying sizes(fitting up to 6 to 18 people in each). The song selection is the same as the rest of KTown since they use Ziller, the crème de la crème of Korean based karaōke. If you know the remote or even song at one place, it’s going to be the same here. My guess is that more people are here for the English songs, which get tricky since Ziller has such a limited selection of it. My tip is to continually Flip through the back of the Korean side and there will be a small selection of relatively new English songs, most of which don’t appear in the English section. Some folks might knock the sound system because there are mad echos, erroneous settings, and inconsistent mic fades. This is due to lack of maintenance, not necessarily due to the equipment itself. Those mics should be charged, the system should be tweaked and a cracky speaker should be replaced. Depending on which room one is in, the situation can get worse but I haven’t heard a stellar setup here yet. Lastly, the service is definitely on the hit or miss side. With the price being less spendy since its for rooms(i.e. fit as many as people as you can in each), the emphasis is on ordering drinks /food to earn their keep. When certain things are declined you can tell it wears on the staff a bit. The gatekeeper of the place is the older mamasan woman behind the counter. Not the most personable boss by any means, especially when she’s there to take your money.

Hmm, different prices for different people? A bunch of friends and I went here, I was getting my karaōke places confused. It was $ 50 an hour and wasn’t bad. The drinks are pretty expensive though. The sound is on point and the mics work, something that none of us are used to. I can say that it’s weird that 99% of the songs we picked didn’t have any corny video behind it… that’s what karaōke is all about, right? We all agree we would go back, but maybe pregame beforehand, since it was kind of pricey.

If this place was more affordable, it would definitely get more stars. But unfortunately, it’s not. I used to go back in the day, before it was owned and managed by these young korean guys, when it was cheaper. The sound system is nice, the rooms are nice, but it is a too overpriced. You can walk down the block to a cheaper karaōke place for a more affordable price.

Worst karaōke place I’ve ever been to. Costs $ 40 per hour, a few snack fries were $ 25, the remote control barely worked, the AV system was slow and glitchy, and the songs are outdated. In contrast, the karaōke place on Steinway Street in Astoria was $ 4 per hour for flawlessly new décor, a quick and easily navigable AV system, and up-to-date music.

to be honest. I don’t know why am I rating a Karaōke place since most of them are the same anyway… I guess the reason why it’s ok is because I came here with the perfect group of friends during summer… and they served free snacks… the beer is not that expensive compare to other karaōke bars… sound system. err. as usual. it sucks. I can’t find a sound system that is good in K town. maybe I really need some recommendation from others… hmm. but so far. I think this is the best karaōke bar at K town. well. at least in my experience. :)

–was open til at least 7am –it cost $ 65 an hour –all the music videos were either African animals doing their animal things, or a guy doing ski jumps –the controller took forever to figure out how to not be in the Korean section –the actual song selection was decent –we got room #1 which was huge –they were really pushy to get us to sign our credit card receipt while we were still in our second hour –I like Duet 35 more

Drinks– My Jack and coke tasted more like coke. They didn’t have much of a liquor selection. I asked if they had Grey Goose La piore… She pointed to stolli orange. Service– The one bartender there Saturday night was rude.(nobody forced you to be a bartender, if you’re so miserable then work at a morgue or something.) There’s a TV at the bar. It was NBA All Star weekend… She shut off the TV. When asked why? Her reply was something like it’s too bright… Really? Rooms– They were average. Songs(english) — it’s 2012… Why are there songs from the Billboard top 100 of 2009? Overall… Don’t expect much. Weak drinks and a mens bathroom door that doesnt lock.

This place was pretty meh. We really only came here because another karaōke place we tried first was closing soon and the girls in our group were too cold/lazy/had feet that hurt to walk any further. Sound system was pretty terrible and they basically had no real videos for the English songs. We also experienced a lot of problems with us not being able to turn the vocals off. What’s the point of karaōke if the sound of your own voice is being drowned out by the machine!!! Wouldn’t recommend this place, there are much better karaōke joints to be found in both K-Town and Chinatown.

NEVER coming back to you again, Grand Karaōke. You ladies are: 1) Rude 2) Unhelpful 3) incapable of doing mathematics(or were you just trying to scam some extra money from me? Either way, you SUCK) Oh, and one additional note: you guys have a very complicated karaōke system for the non-Korean crowd, not user-friendly. No wonder why you guys were the only karaōke lounge that wasn’t packed!

Yes, it’s only A-OK for me. I love singing(though i’m not that good, but who cares) and this place has a really nice friendly feel to it. The rooms are very cozy, almost like hanging out in a chimney. Song selection is very so-so. Alhough they have a couple of new songs here and there, a lot of the classics were missing. ie: Where’s «Kiss the girl» from the little mermaid??! The laser light show is pretty cool, but gets annoying after a few hours, but seems to get better after a few drinks. The colors the colors! Don’t let the rating system get you down. In truth, it depends on how loud you scream into the mic. Doesn’t really detect your accuracy and pitch. If you have a beautiful soft voice, you’ll probably score a 10 most of the night.

With many places already booked on a Saturday night, Grand Karaōke was still accepting reservations for private rooms. Super! We had a large party of 10 and we jumped on the chance. Price, service, and comfort wise, Grand Karaōke was great. I believe it was $ 7 per person per hour. The location seems really new and the rooms were spacious compared to other places I’ve been to. The song list is extensive, spanning the 70’s to today, Korean, Chinese, and J-pop. In addition to being great about giving drink and snack orders quickly, we also got complementary fruit with chocolate sauce! x3 The not-so-great things: – The song list is not keep very current. If you’re singing in English, better break out the 80’s and 90’s classics rather than expecting to sing«Born this Way» – Strobe lights. That’s right — every room is equipped with strobe lights that are in-sync with the music. Great for your inner rocker. Bad for your secret epileptics. – A/V issues. The remote was all in Korean, so make sure you pay attention. Also, one of our mics was obscenely louder than the other. – Odd video backgrounds. The karaōke screen is programmed to play a video from Korean soaps during your song. Sometimes this is cute(romantic songs and«My Sassy Girl») but sometimes are downright scary/distracting/WTF? — there were at least 3 bloody battle scenes and one of a romantic fight that never resolves. 3.5 Stars. Saving this place for last minute karaōke dates and nostalgia nights.

I’ve gone here at least four times already and never yet have I been disappointed. I give this place 5 stars! The price is actually extremely reasonable. I find that this place is roughly the same price as other places around the area when you take into account the quality of the room you get as well as the atmosphere. What I really like about this place is that they’re always on top of telling you when your time is done. Why is this a good thing? I once went to another karaōke place across the street because Grand Karaōke was full and they charged us FIVEDOLLARS for an extra TWOMINUTES we stayed in the room figuring out the bill. That was absolutely ridiculous and that is why I LOVE Grand Karaōke. The prices for the food are actually a little crazy but you can actually weave your way through this. Drinks are almost never allowed from the outside via any karaōke place but you can always sneak it in because Grand Karaōke respects your privacy in your rooms; they’ve never walked into our room without knocking so you can always be swift with that. *** IFYOUARETHEFIRSTCUSTOMEROFTHEDAY, YOURENTIREPARTYWILLGETCOMPLIMENTARYDRINKSONTHEHOUSE(COFFEE, TEA, ICEDTEA, WATER)***. You CAN, though, bring your own food as I have before and they don’t mind at all so you can always go downstairs, head over to the H-mart and grab whatever snacks you want. Also, a lot of people are saying that this place is «too pricey». We had a group of people and they gave us the choice of either a small room(which was actually very comfortable for the 6 of us) for $ 50/hr, or a large® room for $ 60/hr. We ended up taking the smaller room just because I’ve been in it before and that room is just amazing(the guests can write on the walls and everything illuminates with the various black lights)!. We stayed there for two hours and the price lowered even more to $ 40/hr. For two hours of fun, each person contributed approximately 14 dollars. Not bad at all. Overall, I think this place is one of the best, if not the best, karaōke places around the area. True, I have only gone to two in the area but I don’t think I’m going to survey the other places because I really like this place.

Too pricey to get 4 stars. The room was really nice, none of that stale, used smell you can get in Karaōke places. This is typical Asian-style Karaōke, meaning you get a private room for your party. Much better than the western version of everyone in the restaurant/bar singing to strangers, and way more fun! They have the typical weird snacks of sweet popcorn, Doritos, yogurt pretzels, etc. The beers aren’t too expensive, but the Soju is pricey! $ 20 a bottle. Too bad, cuz I really wanted some. Had some serious nostalgia for Korea while I was there. Tons of Korean songs(and up-to-date!) but also plenty of English songs(and Japanese… and Chinese? I think they also have Vietnamese songs too). I went here to meet up with a friend and a bunch of her friends, would suggest it for a large group since the rooms were huuuge and that way it won’t be too pricey between everyone.

Came here with Unilocalers: Andrew H, Hans H., Janice C. My first karaōke in Ktown.(Located adjacent to Wonjo) Service: 3⁄5 –not bad, they left us alone for the most part. Took our drink orders about 10 minutes in. There are about 6 – 7 rooms? I noticed Pan R. saying this place is small, can anyone recommend a larger and better karaōke place? We were there until about 2am(3.75 hrs total) so I’m not sure why Pan R. says they tried kicking his/her party out at 10:30 sounds odd. The rooms can fit(comfortably) 9 people. Though you can probably squeeze in about 4 more. There are only two microphones, a large main screen and a smaller TV near the back for the ones daring enough to stand up and serenade the crowd(which ends up happening anyways after a few drinks). Overall I had a good experience here and would come back again.

One evening I was out with a few of my friends and we wanted to do Karaōke. We decided to head out to 34th to see what Karaōke spots we can find there. Ugh, we went on a mission and search to find a karaōke place that had a room for us immediately and didn’t cost so much. This place was our last hope and we thought we weren’t going to sing karaōke, but when we went up to this place, the staff took us right away and charged us around $ 30 all together for 4 people. We had two microphones and a small instrument that is similar to a maraca. We had our own, somewhat spacious private room to ourselves to scream our hearts out. The television screen was big and the karaōke machine was easy to use. There is a variety of songs to choose from including Asian(Japanese etc.) music. The song bank could have been a little bit better, but I was surprised to find one of my favorite older songs(Crush by Jennifer Paige) in the bank. I wish that there were actual music videos instead of seeing clips from Asian movies. I also wish that some of the songs didn’t sound edited. The instruments sounded different in some of the songs. The place is pretty clean and they even have snacks you can buy from there. I don’t know the prices for the snacks, though. Overall, I had a great time and I am glad that I have found this place.

Very small place! The guy was almost rude. Telling us we had to leave by 11pm because there were reservations made(only 1.5 hours), and kicking us out at 10:30… Geez. He also seemed to not trust us and would occasionally spy. AND he took my friend’s food to store away. I mean, really? It’s not like we would’ve bought your food anyway. The song selection is alright. The books are too disorganized though. Had no idea how to find songs. The remote is confusing too ! The one-stall bathroom was scary.

i’m not a high roller, but for some reason i always end up here. actually grammy made me think that karaōke was a once in a while thing because our wallets bled every time we came. but it might be because we’re alcoholics and stay for more than an hour. . so i’m going to stop going here and check out some of the other options on 35th street. that said, i’ve had some epic nights at grammy. they have a fun selection, some good looking rooms, cute tables(we broke one once) and the staff isn’t unpolite or anything. it’s hard to let go, but damn. i believe there’re better options for a lower price right around the corner(and across the street). also psst. like a bunch of other places in k-town, grammy looked the other way with indoor smoking but they may not do that anymore.

I have lost thousands of dollars and many many hours of my life to this, my favorite norebang in koreatown. There have been many nights I’ve shown up here at 5 and left at 10am, including my birthday party last week. As the others have said, the grey goose bottle service is the way to go. Oh, and also, I think the name has changed to «grand» instead of «grammy»(I heard from my friend it was for legal reasons). It’s the place up the little elevator from Wonjo. –j
