Welcome to the wonderful world of Hair of the Dog. Sitting on the corner of Stanton and Orchard in the historic Lower East Side, this is where old school watering hole meets big time sports bar. With kitchen and bar open 11:30 am to 4 am every night of the week, we can promise you that Hair of the Dog will not disappoint.

At Hair of the Dog, we’re serving up stellar pub grub with drink specials nightly. We have 14 beers on draft, and all of our food is made fresh each morning. Order a Stuffed Burger or «Create Your Own» Grilled Cheese, and don’t forget to try the Bacon Egg and Cheese sliders– they’re a neighborhood favorite! Rudest staff hands down ! The co partner /​bartender Keith and manager are the most unprofessional individuals. I had an incident occur where I was told to leave (no explanation), bartender didn’t want to serve me. He had never dealt with me before; he simply told me to leave. I’m 5’2 120 pounds .
I ordered my first round of drinks with a female bartender and I went back to the bar to order my second drink and that’s when Keith told me «I don’t want to serve you «I thought he was joking so I proceeded to ask «your kidding right, can I have two more drinks ». He wasn’t kidding, security was behind me and I was told to leave .
Then it gets better
I called the bar to speak to a manager because after reading these reviews this kind of stuff happens there often .

So basically its okay to discriminate someone based on their appearance, well that’s just greattttt.
I’m a 26 year old Asian Hispanic woman and this is the first time I ever witness discrimination like this. Obviously this bar has issues with these kind of problems (look at the reviews), it’s really sad because I was having a great time before this happened but for clear reasons I will never step inside again.

Delicious fried bar food. The medium buffalo wings are so crispy. Bacon, cheddar, ranch tator tots are mouth watering. Pizza Quesadilla is really delicious. The drinks are kinda weak, which what makes them lose a star. The drinks do not to be watered down. The location is awesome. There is a charging station for your phone which I utilized. I love those thing. There sister bar, 3 Sheets Saloon is much better than this place. That’s the reason I brought my friends to this place, because of 3 Sheets. This one was closer to us. The food is equally as good though and I did enjoy my time. My drinks weren’t so weak after I ordered a double.

Gave it one star, because there is now way to give ZERO stars. Surly staff, bad music, unfriendly atmosphere meh prices and tasteless specials.
Strictly B & T. No self-​repecting Manhattanite, let alone downtowner would go near this joint. If your idea of fun is coming into town to puke your guts out on St. Patrick’s Day, HAIR OF THE DOG is for you.
If your idea of fun is shouting over Billy Joel’s «Piano Man» at ear-​splitting volume trying to pick up someone else’s girlfriend, HAIR OF THE DOG is for you. The gender ratio is 400 jocks to 1 dyed blonde here.
The atmosphere is so unpleasant here the serve knuckle sandwiches.
The bouncers are so tough they serve broken leg of lamb.
To enter this place, you take two steps down, physically… and socially!
If your idea of fun is standing shoulder to shoulder with young hulking brutes hooting like great apes as they get progressively drunker, HAIR OF THE DOG is for you.
And don’t bother bringing up any complaints with the management – they’ll start insulting YOU!

Very fun vibe. Crowded on an early Saturday evening 6:30PM or so. We came here with some out of towners Floridians to be exact, who were happy we included this place on our spot. Good music with a pretty fun mix some new school, some old school Hip Hop, EDM, and top 40s. I didn’t have any drinks other than a fireball shot that was provided to me by a friend so I cannot speak to their drink quality only speaking on vibe and atmosphere here.

My friends and I found this place while looking for somewhere to grab food before a night out. We almost ended up staying here all night! We shared the quesadilla and two of us had grilled chicken wraps and one had a grilled cheese with bacon. Pretty standard bar food but they have tater tots! Super win. They seem to have specials everyday which is awesome. Sunday is half price beer, Bloody Marys, and coffee spikes (bring your own coffee). We went on a Tuesday which was $ 4 you call it for drinks after 8pm. They had beer pong and lots of TVs with different sports. Everyone was friendly. It was a nice crowd for a Tuesday so I can imagine it gets pretty packed on a weekend. They’re connected to a few other bars like The 13th Step and The Stumble Inn. Great for a stop or to hang all night!

This is your typical bro bar. Your 13th step and Off The Wagon companion. The drink specials are really not that great and the atmosphere is meh at best. If you like those other bars I mentioned, then you will like this. If you like the other bars I mentioned but wish they were a tad less obnoxious, then you’ll really like this.
During the day it’s a typical sports bar basically but not nearly as good as some others in the area. The food is also lacking.

Nothing good comes from this bar. As a neighbor I see the daily fights that erupt from groups of ignorant drunks who clearly have no better good than to argue over the most minute issues. In my opinion it should be shut down. The drinks are terrible, the crowd is pathetic and the staff clearly can’t control their own belligerent scene. And for the guys looking to get laid… you’re better off checking out the local kennel.

A solid sports bar with the usual kind of crowd which obviously will get progressively rowdy depending on a) is there an actual sporting event, b) are you standing/​seated/​hovering by the beer pong table, c) are you there with a TON of people and in fact YOU are the rowdy crowd?
Food was good, beer selection solid and be prepared to fight your way to the bar and for the waitresses attention as the evening progresses. Day drinking here is solid since it’s a) daytime and b) not as crowded.

Out for a friend’s birthday. One of our friends is Islamic. He was kicked out «accidentally» by the bouncers.
He asked why and they said «oh it’s not because of your ethnicity, but there has been a lot of ISIS scares…»
What’s the fuck Hair of the Dog, or any human being that generalises. I hope NBC sees this and I hope you get massively hated on from this.

I’m writing this not to complain about the drinks, food, or service, but rather to address this bar’s ridiculous dress code that they’ve adopted recently regarding fashionably distressed/​ripped jeans.
As a regular customer, I find this policy highly excessive and the implications of its discriminatory nature are quite obvious.
I could understand the policy being in place at more upscale places, but this is just a bar — a good one, but still just a bar. Even so, many upscale nightlife venues dress codes aren’t as ridiculous.
While Hair of the Dog is never usually the «main event» of my night, starting off there always makes for a fun evening. I like spending my money at your bar, but it’s a shame that you’re willing to sacrifice the few who dress a certain way for a larger demographic. But I guess it’s all business decisions at the end of the day.

If you are already drunk and/​or still in college, you would be looking for this type of place and you would give Hair of the Dog all the stars. Otherwise, yikes. It was painfully crowded (as in takes a very long time to get a drink and even longer to wind your way through the crowd to the bathroom), very loud (my ears were ringing for a half hour after leaving), and the crowd was sloppy (lots of people making out and spilling beer).
But like I said. If this is what you are looking for, by all means, go, you’d like it! If it’s not, there are plenty of other places to watch football.

Manhattan: The Big Apple. Where you can find any kind of food, from any nationality, at any time of day or night, any day of the week. BUT can you find a reasonably priced beer? Not really. Which was why I was thrilled to find a sports bar with above average food and where every beer on tap was $ 4 (a Tuesday special).
All I want is to be able to have a nice beer and watch some sports sometimes, and these guys handle it perfectly. The buffalo chicken wrap was above average, although they have wings in quantities of 8 so you can eat them for dinner, which I wasn’t super happy about. The fries were pretty good too. There were maybe 25 tvs around so I got to watch all the Tuesday night baseball my heart desires.
Overall I was happy with the food, but thrilled with the drinks.

Oh my god. Hair of the dog.
I don’t know why I like this bar so much, but I do. When I’m really trying to wild out… hair of the dog.
It’s not as out of control and frat boy infested as 13th Step but still ridiculous enough.
— The crowd is young, lively, and mixed
— Bartenders are friendly and good at their job
— prices are reasonable and during the week they have specials and what have you. Last time I went on a Tuesday it was something like $ 4 everything at the bar. Works for me.
— Solid music, good mix between Top 40 and old school
— It does get very crowded, very quickly after 10pm on Friday/​Saturday nights but still always a very good time
— Also, even when it’s crowded, waitresses are still really attentive if you’re sitting and ordering at a booth. Basically, these people know how to deal with a crowd.
That being said, you’ll either love it or hate it here.
I’ll probably be really sick and tired of this scene in ~5 years but until then… hair of the dog.

Please do not go to this place.
Everyone was rude, the security guy inside shoved me and told me to «fcking move». It was so packed and terribly hot I could not move an inch. I told him please not to be mean, I was too sober to put up with his aggressiveness and he called me «dumb». Needless to say, I felt really uncomfortable and will never come back here.
The music was OK but you had to waste about 10 minutes to get to the bar and buy an overpriced and lukewarm bottle of beer.

I’m always up for a great night of dancing and this place definitely plays some awesome songs, but it is so extremely packed and filled with some trashy people who have zero bar etiquette. Yes, this is your «frat boy» type bar and it was so packed I couldn’t even make it to the bar.
I get it, Saturday night, everyone wants to go out and drink and dance, but this bar is so extremely crowded with people who have no problem stepping on you, shoving you and being just plain rude. Sorry, I don’t deal with this. We left as quick as we entered this place. Believe me, I definitely understand that when a place gets crowded, you’re bound to get stepped on. I’ve been to La Caverna one too many times and that place gets PACKED. I’ve never experienced anything to the degree of what I did at this place.
If you’re looking to dance, have a good night and get some good drinks, save yourself the headache and skip this place and hop on over to La Caverna.

Can you say happy hour all day every day. They have the best chicken finger in a bar you will every have. And the pickled chips are cook perfects

Came here on a Sunday from about 6pm to midnight. There was no line to get in and the bouncer was friendly. The place was full, but not packed. We immediately found a table to fit all of us. The vibe was good. I really liked the music as it kept us dancing in between sips. The drinks weren’t too strong but not bad.
They had a beer pong table! This was a lot of fun. However, if you want to go next, make sure you announce it to the people playing and follow up! We got skipped about 4 times before we got loud about it.
Food: since we were here for an entire Sunday Funday… we got hungry! Our group ordered wings, onion rings, chicken tenders, and more. I must give a shoutout to their onion rings… possibly the best I’ve ever tasted! I think we reordered it about 3 times lol.
One negative: Our waitress was a total ditz and rude. One of our guys went to order drinks at the bar… here comes the waitress for the first time… instead of introducing herself, she gets all pissed that we ordered at the bar instead of with her. We didn’t see any waitresses when we sat down and for the few minutes after that — so we had no idea we couldn’t go to the bar. We apologized but she acted pissy the rest of the night.

I’m pretty sure I was here during the perfect storm of douche.
Now, I’ve been to their sister bars (and vowed never to return), and I’ve read the reviews that this place is full of finance bros, so I was prepared for that.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the opening night of football, and Budweiser sending girls to give out free drink tickets.
So you have a ton of bros crammed into a medium sized space. You have Bud Light girls trying to walk around and get people’s email addresses so they can spam them. And you have a ton of idiots who actually want to drink Bud Light storming the bar with their two drink tickets like they owned the place.
The music was basically terrible. It’s what that kid in your dorm who always wore a baseball cap and popped the collar of his pink polo shirt listened to. I mean, they played Papa Roach. IN 2014.
I will say that they have a lot of TVs and projectors and they actually paused the horrible music to let us listen to the games, so that was a plus.
