My experience with Hakeem was hands down the best experience I’ve had with a broker. He was very responsive in setting up times to meet and answered all of my questions (even the dumb ones).
He knew both the area and landlord well and really didn’t waste any time without being pushy. He let me know my options and the process upfront so nothing was surprising.

Hakeem had all the patience in the world with my fiancé and I as we told him what we were looking and hoping for. He paid attention to us. He listened. He showed us a few places and keep doing that. He didn’t give up on us.
Here’s a magical thing he told us while we were in an apartment which was nice, but the bedroom was a bit too small: «If you can hang in there, there’s an apartment that’s going to be available soon. If you’re interested, I’ll let you know about it. I think you’d like it.»
We said, «You bet!»
He did contact us a few weeks later, just as promised.
He never even put that apartment on the market. From the meetings he’d had with us and his relationship with the landlord– and because he’s Hakeem (!) — he knew we would all be a good fit.
On Aug. 1^st 2015, we’re moving into a garden-​level rental apartment in a brownstone on a gorgeous street in Fort Greene– with a private garden at a price that was within our budget.
Hakeem more than came to bat for us, he hit a grand slam. We’ll always be grateful.

Hakeem was responsive and secured the apartment I was looking for. He was also extremely accommodating to my schedule, and pleasant to work with. That being said the experience was not painless. I ended up in a bidding war for the apartment, given that the landlord would not allow holding deposits. When I had made my counter-​offers, Hakeem went back to the landlord, a day later he came back to me and said I had gotten the apartment. Upon receiving the lease I was informed that the offer had in fact changed and I would need to pay $ 50 more a month than I agreed to. At the end of the day, this was not a huge deal and this is NY, but if the offer was going to be different then what I countered, I would have liked communication about that prior to receiving the lease. At the end of the day I love the apartment, Hakeem did his job, and he was responsive when I had questions.

Hakeem was extremely clear, honest, straightforward, responsible, responsive, and made the whole process simple. Everything I hate about New York real estate, I did not find to be the case with Hakeem. A great broker to work with.

Hakeem is by far the best broker I have ever come across in New York City. Having moved at least seven times, I have had my fair share of awful brokers who don’t listen to a word you say and try to convince you to get a crappy apartment in a crappy neighborhood for way too much money. I have now found two apartments through Hakeem in the past three years and as long as he is around, I don’t plan on using anyone else ever again! Hakeem clearly has a good relationship with all the owners he represents and this shows in the quality of apartments he offers. I have never been less stressed when apartment hunting than when I had Hakeem as my broker. I HIGHLY recommend him!
