Hamptons Market Place

My wife and I were craving eclairs so we found this place on seamless and ordered a slice of cherry cheesecake and 3 eclairs.
Our order arrived and instead of our order, we received a slice of cherry cheesecake and 3 cannoli. I immediately called up the store and a man picked up who barely spoke English. After sentence I said, he would say — your order is on the way! I had to keep interrupting him to tell him my order arrived and was wrong but he just kept repeating my order was on the way.
I ended up calling a couple of times but the same guy kept picking up so I went through seamless instead. I explained the situation and the rep managed to get a hold of someone else at the location. They had told the seamless rep that they were going to drop the charge for the 3 eclairs but would send someone in about 10 – 15 min to take the 3 cannoli and bring 3 eclairs instead. I was happy with the fix from seamless.
Moments after, I spoke to someone from the store who told me it would take 30 minutes and that we can keep a cannoli.
45 min later, the order finally arrived, the eclairs were disgusting — they weren’t filled with custard, they were filled with whipped cream.
A few minutes later, someone from the location called up screaming at my wife saying — who told you that you could keep a cannoli?!
He went on screaming about the cannoli and my wife screamed back. Eventually she passed me the phone and before I can speak, the person goes — oh there was a misunderstanding, I was just notified that someone said you could keep a cannoli.
I called seamless and launched a complaint against them and will be launching a complaint with every organization for their actions.

They never have half of the items on their menu that are supposed to come in the sandwiches. They substitute prosciutto with bologna. They never have the vegetables that are supposed to be in the sandwiches. But if you’re starving and they’re just around the corner from your job… then it’ll do. The prices are reasonable, like any deli. The food is mediocre. The food gets delivered fast. But, I am just around the corner.

They have a pretty friendly staff, good selection of necessities and extras, and a great list of menu items. I suggest the Philly Cheesesteak or sausage, egg, and cheese for breakfast!

I came here to get something, paid for the item before it was made, and the same person who took my money accused me of not paying when I tried to leave! They should not let their workers be high when they are there, as that is the only possible explanation for his behavior. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ will not return.

This deli nails it. Fresh, clean, good prices, but best of all — an accurate hand in sandwich composition. This is a neighborhood gem I only discovered when my usual spot closed.
On my way home from here I puzzled over how there could be lines at other establishments while I was able to order a skillfully crafted late night steak and cheese without any wait. The cost was just 7.99, but most importantly the craftsman behind the counter toasted the bread, applied only enough ketchup as not to override the rest of the ingredients, and he took the time to ask if I would like American or pepper jack cheese (yes please).
Glad I found this place.

This place is always pleasant and clean, and they have everything in there. The guys in the back are able to always multitask on orders and they are quick and professional! I always leave a couple dollars for them in the jar cuz they work really hard! Def recommend…

Great variety and value for service. Fortunately have never had to wait more than a couple minutes to order and the 24 hour opening makes it super convenient.

When it comes to the sandwiches made, the breakfast menu is the best. I used to always get a BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese) or a fruit salad on the way to class. The food was pretty good, made on the spot. But when it comes to wraps and paninis, its a no no. The wraps and paninis are pre made and barely heated. The food always came out lukewarm and not toasted enough. It would come with some potato chips– certainly not worth the money paid. This deli is a bit pricey– around $ 4 for a fruit salad, $ 4.50-$ 5 for a breakfast sandwich and $ 8 for a panini, for barely heated food. Overall, mediocre but not worth the prices.

Their salad bar is very fresh and the place is very friendly. They do charge by the item but it is pretty reasonable for NYC prices. 10 salads and you get one free which is pretty cool.

If you’re willing to wait an hour and a half for an omelet and a yogurt. Knock yourself out. And don’t expect any sympathy.

When it comes to breakfast sandwiches (mainly egg and cheese), this place is definitely one of the better ones. From Avenue C to 1^st Avenue by 14^th street, this is the best place for me. It’s consistently tasty and the price doesn’t randomly change unlike other delis. You an see him make it clean from behind the counter and the people there are friendly. This is the spot for a quick delicious breakfast !

Made an impulse Seamless buy last night for a few sandwiches and french toast — very very average and ordinary — don’t expect anything more.

a) If you want it to not be overpriced, move out of Manhattan. Welcome to Manhattan, where a deli THIS BIG costs over $ 10k/​mo to rent, and charges accordingly. The shithole in the wall bodega probably charges less, because it is a shithole in the wall bodega. Know what to expect based on the appearance of an establishment. I do wind up paying $ 12 for a sandwich and an iced tea when I leave here, which is rape. But, they are open, in Manhattan, at 3 AM, willing & ready to make what I want from scratch, and it’s good.
b) There were supply shortages after Hurricane Sandy for every local business. This affects pricing.
Moving on,
I come here every other night, after leaving work at 2 or 3 AM, because they’re the only ones who will make while I want. While other delis have your standard flavorless dry roll, boar’s head cold cut and shitty mayonnaise, they will make me the exact panini or wrap I want from scratch. The dude remembers everything I want, exactly how I want it, and makes it fresh at 3 AM.
Further, I didn’t tip them for almost a year… I felt terrible, and dropped something big in the tip jar the other day.
A plus for carrying Joe Tea too.

2 stars because the selection is good. I paid $ 2.99 for a 1.5L bottle of water, I couldn’t believe it. In disbelief, I let them keep the extra penny for the 3 singles I gave the cashier which is totally against my jewish tendencies.
You can get the same size bottle of water for $ 0.99 if you go down 2 blocks. That bodega is making a profit so I can’t imagine the profit margin on a $ 3 bottle of water. I got screwed more than Kristen Stewart on the set of Snow White and the Huntsman.
In addition, the spread of fresh food looked miserable and contaminated, something that weirds me out. It reminds me of when mama G used to put leftover spaghetti in an empty cool-​whip container just gross.

In the ten years that I’ve lived here, this location has been three different delis with each incarnation improving the quality and selection. While I do miss the family own vibes that the previous delis had, what this place lacks in local color, it more than makes up for in selection and quality. Although they don’t carry my beer, Amstel Light (I know it’s a weak one, but I like it!).
I also find the price a little higher than some of the mom and pop bodgeas in the ‘hood, but it does the job. I’ve never had a sandwich or salad at this location, but I’ve never heard complaints from my neighbors. Overall, I give this place a thumbs up.

I’ve had some of the best Sandwich’s in my life at this little market what a find.

This is the local bodega to my bf apt so we are here often. They have a great selection of snacks and Gatorade. We also frequently buy our beer here. Pricing is average for the area. Big positive is the service– the guys are awesome. I requested for certain pretzel crisp flavors and they ordered them. Vast selection of hummus which makes me very happy. Never too overcrowded. The hot bar is the only thing I’m not a fan of.

If you want the freshest, custom-​made sandwich or panini in all of NYC (served with Terra chips, definite plus!), please come here at night. The night chef is the friendliest guy and he will make whatever you want.
I asked him to make me an eggplant parmigiana without the cheese. He understood that I didn’t eat meat and proceeded to clean the knives and cutting board – what an awesome gesture that saved me from sounding like a snooty vegan who demands separate cooking ware! I guess they didn’t have eggplant on hand, so he went to go buy one, washed it, and sliced it up – very fresh. He offered me some chips to eat while I was waiting. He put fresh garlic on the bread and toasted it. The sandwich could have used more marinara, however. I should have gotten his name, to thank him properly. I’ll ask next time, since I’ll definitely be back!

Months ago, there was a decrepit deli in this coveted corner spot that I often mistook for a soup kitchen due to the utter rankness, filth, and crowds of bums in the doorway. Alas, it was finally destroyed, and the bright, shiny, clean, welcoming Hamptons Marketplace opened in its place — HALLELUJAH! And bye-​bye, Hot & Crusty and overpriced cash-​only, dirty EV bodegas!
THE best breakfast deal in the city can be had here — I can get a SIX egg white omelet with swiss and ‘shrooms, home fries, toast, AND coffee for $ 5. (It’s actually available all day.) The assortment of drinks is the best I’ve seen, and I absolutely LOVE that they have Stewart’s, Vita-​J, and Borba, my newest obsession. The drinks are a bit of a rip — my damn Borba juice costs almost as much as my omelet. The groceries aren’t absurdly priced, but I doubt I’d come here for that unless I was in a bind. But, oh… the breakfast food… LOVE!!!
The people that work here rock, too, and there’s no credit card minimum; in fact, this might be the only bodega in the area with that policy. Huge menu of all of the usual salads, smoothies, sandwiches, bakery stuff, some hot food (seems limited, though), etc. I’d have given the coveted 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact that half of the time I’ve come here, they’ve been out of mushrooms for my omelet, forgotten the cheese, gave me 3 instead of 6 egg whites, etc.
Still. This is East Village, and this place is ridiculously, other-​worldly clean and shiny — truly a one-​of-​a-​kind in this area. 24 hours. Infant-​sized omelets for $ 5. No credit card minimums. Nice people. C’MON, Unilocalers — get the hell outta Hot & Crusty next door, and come to Hamptons!

Years back, when I first moved to the city one of my favorite things were the delis and bodegas on every corner. Walls piled to the ceiling with cooking knickknacks, chips, breads, sodas, and on and on. A case of cold cuts, even sometimes a hot bar with foods from around the world. It’s a lunchers dream.
And in the East Village there are some seriously decrepit versions of this dream. Years of use had taken their toll on the various Grocery Deli Marts of 1^st Avenue and it becomes hard to tell exactly how long that box of Wheat Thins had been on the shelf. And weather or not that side of ham had turned yet.
But the brand spanking new Hamptons Market offers a fresh and clean version of the traditional bodega. Juices, kombuchas and sodas all in line. The salad case brightly lit up. Even whole cakes and pastries on display. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit higher than the other guys. Naked smoothies will run $ 5 and coffee $ 2.50 … not a huge difference, but enough to make me weigh the options. My conclusion? Dirty or clean, you get what you pay for.
