Happy Slices is both a gourmet pizzeria and a «global» diner. The menu offerings include pizza, burgers, and hot dogs, alongside a daily array of Caribbean and comfort food staples such as Jerk Chicken (aka the Terminator), Mac n’ Cheese, and Fried Chicken.
History
Established in 2010.
The concept behind Happy Slices is pretty novel, even for New York City. In the Spring of 2010, the owner, Alexi, made the decision to leave a successful career in corporate America and carve his own path in the restaurant industry. Once the decision was made, Alexi hit the ground running and started developing the vision, concept, and menu for his first restaurant within a matter of weeks. After brainstorming with his «muse» one day they came up with the phrase «Everyday meets Holiday» and the menu took off from there. The combination of gourmet, New-York style pizza with «globally inspired dishes». This first location on E.23rd Street showcases some of Alexi’s Caribbean/Jamaican favorites, as well as daily seasonally driven specials.
The location is decked out with multiple flat screen HDTVs, limestone and mirrored walls, and an impressive sound system. Regulars come for the food and hang back for the music and videos.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Alexi came to the U.S. to go to college, start a career and live and work in New York City. After a number of years in corporate America, he couldn’t wait to follow his real dream of being a restaurateur. Alexi has plans to turn Happy Slices into a franchise operation and is well on his way with a secret second location in the works (Stay tuned!)
«We designed the place to be a fun, high-impact, and energetic eating destination» says Alexi. And he hopes to welcome all of you YELPers in for a visit soon.
