Harlem’s Happy Hounds

My husband and I adopted a rescue dog a little over two months ago. Since then, we’ve been searching for a consistent dog walker in our neighborhood. Wag! has been convenient, and we love the app, but we haven’t been able to consistently get the same walker. And it’s a bit pricey to use daily when you include tipping. So after researching some options, someone on the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue FB page suggested that we contact Adrienne from Harlem’s Happy Hounds. We did and we’ve been SO impressed!
Because our dog Huey was rescued form Florida, he’s been pretty skittish with all of the NYC noise and commotion. So we wanted a walker who really understood how to work with him, and someone who would provide consistency in supporting our training techniques. Adrienne listened to all of our concerns, came to our apt to meet Huey and offered lots of great advice on how to make Huey more comfortable in the city. She trained one of her walkers, Kelana, to work with Huey and she’s been terrific as well. Huey adores them both! And Huey gets to walk with other sweet dogs which seems to be helping his skittishness too.
Happy Hounds is now our go-​to for both daily walking AND overnight pet-​sitting. At first it seemed a little weird having someone we didn’t know stay in our apartment with him. But given Huey’s background and skittishness we didn’t want to kennel him. After meeting Adrienne it didn’t seem weird at all! She recommended that Kelana pet-​sit and she did an awesome job! For us, knowing Huey is safe and sound in his own familiar space has removed any stress we had about traveling.
Adrienne has given me peace of mind! She’s reliable, friendly, professional and really cares about dogs! I would totally recommend her to anyone needing dog walking or pet-​sitting services in Harlem.

Adrienne has been walking my dog for about a year and is wonderful. My dog is crazy and very aggressive with other dogs, but Adrienne and her assistants have done an amazing job with him. She’s gotten him to behave on walks and successfully introduced him to a lot of other dogs. She’s also very reliable, communicative, and sweet. I’ve had bad experiences with other dog walkers, but never with Adrienne. She’s definitely the best walker in Harlem.

Adrienne is amazing! She is flexible, friendly, fantastic with pets and a joy to work with. I trust her completely and would recommend her to anyone. She walks my little dog, John Christopher, on days I work late and is extremely dependable. I have no worries about him with her. I’ve also been able to schedule different days when needed with no problems.

Adrienne has been walking my dog Grimaldi on and off for the past three years or so. I work at home, but my job often calls for travel and I am fortunate to have Adrienne to call upon whenever I have to leave for a few days. It’s not easy to trust someone with your home and more so with your beloved pet, but Adrienne has been reliable and a pleasure to deal with throughout. She has a sensitive nature and clearly bonds well with animals. I highly recommend her — she is the best!

Adrienne and Maris are awesome. I was referred to her by my pet groomer, Posh Pets on FDB. Adrienne takes her business seriously, she came to my place for a consultation with my pup. She wanted to meet the dog and make sure all 3 of us were comfortable with one another. She was formerly a nanny and I am sure she gives the same love and attention to her former clients as she does her new furry ones. I was very apprehensive, initially, in that there would be a stranger in my home, but I have never had any incidents with Adrienne. She walks other dogs in my buildings too! Her rates are good. $ 25 for an hour walk during her regular hours, $ 35 for after hours or weekends. She also boards my pup. I travel often and her rates are reasonable. She sends me pics of my pup while I am out of town, so I can see how well he is doing. Also on my pup’s daily walks she always leaves me a note, so I can know how he did on them and if he’s had any problems or issues that need to be addressed. I think the notes that she and Maris (one of her dog walkers) leaves are the best… it’s like a little report card. I also appreciate that Adrienne is so accommodating. I work shift work and my hours are different each day, she always works with me. I highly recommend Adrienne’s services. She loves what she does and her clients can see that.

Adrienne’s company has walked my dog 5 days a week for 4 years, since he was a pup. She is INCREDIBLY dependable and my dog adores her. He comes home from his hour-​long walks tired and relaxed.
She started when we lived in Morningside Heights, after we moved down the UWS she still comes down to walk him. She is very careful and I know my dog is safe with her. I highly recommend this business.
