Sam is a consummate professional and a master of his craft. I’ve gotten my headshot/​body shots done with him a few times now and it’s easy for me to say they come out perfect. He is a perfectionist and will take as much time and as many shots/​angles/​scenery changes as necessary to get the perfect shot for you. His prices are great and to top it all off he’s a great guy. If you are looking for excellent pictures it would be a foolish move to go anywhere else. He also does printing for a very cheap price and of course they come out exemplary. My highest recommendation goes out to Sam Khan of Imageworksnyc

I came to Sam because he was voted best headshot photographer on the Backstage NY reader poll. And his prices are very competitive. And also because of his great reviews on Unilocal.
But working with Sam, he really is the best. I got the best shots I’ve ever had taken– and I’ve worked with several photographers in NY and LA. He’s also a great guy, personable, professional, caring and passionate.

Sam took head shots of my startup team. Such a nice guy and such great work. He made us feel completely comfortable, worked quickly but not rushed, and made us each an active participant. I cannot recommend him more highly.

I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to after the amazing experience working with Sam Khan. I left his studio with so many great headshots (actor). Sam cares about getting you great photos and will spend the time with you to get them. I can’t stress that point enough — he is truly committed to get the best shots of you possible and will spend the time with you to make sure that happens. Sam makes you feel at ease and relaxed and knows exactly how to help you along to ensure that you are projecting well. He is very personable and very much in command of his skills. In addition to the photographer, the studio is great — spacious, roomy, there is a large separate room for you to change, he does multiple setups throughout the studio and will work with you outdoors as well. He also helped me choose outfits from the clothes I brought. He really cares about the type of work he is putting out there and you benefit because you get great shots. I want to emphasize that I only write reviews for exceptional quality of work (either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad), and this is definitely a GREAT one that worth my time to write. I had the pleasure to work with Sam, and he’s very professional and truly care about how the photo turns out and how it aligns with the objective of the client. I was looking for a headshot photographer for my new business website, and stumbled upon Sam. Thanks to you all genuine Unilocal reviewers, based on the good reviews, I called him up and asked for more details since I was new to photo shots. He was very patience in explaining to me every details and made suggestions also. Long story short, we tried a lot of different shots and see how it will work for the website; then tried something new just to see… the whole experience is beyond amazing, and even at the end he narrowed it down to 10+ best shots, it still hard to pick out the one that I want to use. I showed them to all my associates and they all LOVE it. I will continue to work with Sam for my other business needs and personal pix and definitely highly recommend him to anyone!

There are moments of kindness that stick with you forever. A few days ago I had to get some pictures developed and didn’t know how quite to get this done since these days like most folks; I post most of my pictures on-​line. So I make my way to the Thornton Studio on 25^th street between 6^th and 7^th avenues to find a completely unhelpful staff. I was sent to this person and that person to eventually get cutoff in mid conversation when I tried to suggest the logical, since I didn’t burn them on a CD or have them on a USB, which was to email the pictures so that they could print them out for me. After all, they were only 5 pictures. The little, pudgy woman dismissed me without looking up and told me that she couldn’t help me unless I had them on a CD of USB. So I walked out the door, a bit annoyed and made my way over to CVS to get a CD or somethin’. Before I entered I Unilocal’d a photography place to see if I could get this picture printing fiasco done. I call the first number on the list; get an answering machine, call the second and a guy picks up, his name is Sam. I explain to him in sort of a desperate tone that I had to get this done, that my mom has been bugging me for months to have them printed. Sam is a professional photographer, it’s simply something he doesn’t do, but decided to help me anyway. First thing out of his mouth when he agreed was to have me email him the pictures, simple, just as I thought. He asked come over to his Studio on 29^th street, awesome, I was only a few blocks away and as it happened it was also near my Gym where I was heading in any case. So I get to the building, up the elevator, knock on the door and Sam opens up. The guy was as welcoming as he sounded on the phone. It’s an awesome space, a professional space for professional photographs. I sit down; send him the pictures and he starts to effortlessly plug away on a program on his PC to brush up the pictures and make them perfect for printing. He talked to me like he knew me for years. He asked me to come back in an hour and that by that time; they’d be ready to pick up in an envelope. I left and came back, sat down for a bit more, he showed me the pictures, which were awesome, I paid him a very reasonable amount and I was off.
My point of this long ass story is that Sam is an awesome human being. He went out of his way for a person who he didn’t even know. This is the kind of person who wont let you down, who is honest and decent and on top the utmost professional.
I’ll recommend this brother for the rest of my days.

I found this company on Unilocal,and after seeing three 5-​star reviews, I decided I would go to him. I was in a rush to get some very professional headshots taken for a variety of uses — a company press kit, our website, online media sources, etc. Simply put, they needed to look very professional.
The photographer was extremely nice, and wouldnt stop taking shots until he and I both liked the images. He was SO flexible, didnt rush me at all, and spent all the time he needed to get the PERFECT shot for each look. He has such a good eye for great photos, and he’s taken photos for a lot of high profile people (…didnt know this until I got there). All in all, it was the best experience I could have possibly imagined, especially considering that I had such high expectations going in.

Everything the others said and more. Reasonable rates, great location, great service, beautiful outcome. Got professional headshots for a business website. It was my first time doing this, so understand my opinion is within that limited context. Sam was easy to negotiate with, make an appointment with, and communicate with in terms of what we were looking for in our photos. He explained how everything would go on the phone, and everything did go just like he said it would. Once there, we first discussed sample websites and sample photos I hoped to mimic, and he was receptive and ultimately delivered what we asked for exactly. We brought our own hair and makeup people, and there was plenty of space to set up, change, hang clothes, primp. Big studio with several rooms and tons of light. Sam is direct and encouraging. He knows enough about fashion and color to help make correct clothing and makeup choices. He will snap a thousand photos until he gets the right shot. He will tell you when it doesn’t look good, and when it does. He will allow you to participate in the process, showing you the shots along the way on the camera so you can understand what he means when he says, «look down, turn left, arms back.» He seems to like his job. Choosing the photo and choosing the editing happens on the spot, on Sam’s giant computer screen. Its all very technological and impressive; he has spent the money on the software. We left invigorated to market our business. And we got our photos in less than a week, on CD and in email in various formats. Super easy. I started with an email.

Sam is the best there is. I’ve been working with him for years. Even when I was an actor in DC I would travel to New York to have him take my pictures. Unlike other photographers who give you a certain number of shots, or a limited amount of time, Sam will spend whatever amount of time is needed to get the right shots. The first time we met he even took me out shopping because he thought we could find some better options for shirts! I’ve never used another photographer since then!
I go to Sam for everything having to do with pictures — headshots, prints, retouching, postcards — he does it all. I always know it’s going to be a quality product at a good price. He also helps choose out which photos are the best. He really takes care of the process from start to finish.

I am a singer and needed great headshots. I was referred to Sam and am so glad I found him! He was very laid back, made me feel very comfortable and got a self-​conscious unphotogenic woman to look amazing in headshots! The lighting, composition — everything is just spot on.
His rates are incredibly reasonable. I left the session with a ton of amazing photos that I now have to narrow down to just two!

Had to get a professionally taken photo for my job. Would rather get a shot in the arm, if given the choice. Didn’t get that choice, so I went to Sam Khan instead.
Let me tell you… I’m stingy with my compliments, but I can’t stop raving about Sam.
His studio is just past 7^th, on the 4^th floor, and is the last door down a dingy hallway. Sam was the consummate professional, easy-​going and unassuming. I brought examples of photos to show him what I liked, but he took over from the get-​go. I just followed his lead and the photo turned out great.
He took the time to explain what he wanted, provided examples of his work, explained his Photo Shop editing techniques, and his photographic style. Not the self-​absorbed, smarmy photography pervert, stereotyped in the media.
His rates are too reasonable, considering his talent and affability, but don’t tell him that. I’m cheap, after all…
