This is a gem in the neighborhood that I go to almost every day. Great place for organic foods and products. They stick to their values in choosing brands and products. The produce section is small – you can get groceries for many meals, but they don’t necessarily have every ingredient you need. They’ve been improving the quality and variety and also adding a few prepared foods (sandwiches and cut fruit). A modest store with a little of everything. Prices are very reasonable, especially if you compare to the dismal conventional food at D’ags.
The staff has always been very nice to me, even opening doors and offering baby product samples. The owner always asks for suggestions for new products. They also offer free local delivery. Come here to support an independent family owned business.

Why on earth do I go back? I apologize for the extreme negativity of this review but its a reflection on you.

These are some of the most bizarre resentful women I’ve ever seen. I’m not surprised by the high rating, I’ve seen them perk up for certain people who could care less to acknowledge them… how the Master keeps the conquered in check…

Cost:
NO they aren’t cheap, no the quality is not good — look at the vegetables yourself. Its about location. I’ve never found this ugliness at integral so why don’t I shut up and just not go back here? No problem.

This is the kind of business you want to support. Family owned and operated with quality, hand-​picked produce and products. They don’t sell anything unless it’s high quality. The prices can be expensive at times, but many of their products are DOLLARS cheaper than Whole Foods.
They are also very knowledgable about their vitamin selections, so you can actually come in and tell them your issue and they will give you a good vitamin solution without all the up-​selling. Super sweet people too. Friendly and welcoming. I’m actually shocked by the some of the bad reviews here — I’ve been shopping there for over 5 years and I have always had lovely service.

They have a nice variety of products. Though sometimes I might not be able to find some brands I might find at larger health food stores. Their prices are pretty good overall. There are some variations with IYI foods, Whole Foods, or Elm Health but more or less on the lower side which I like. Their fresh produce is small pickings which I usually never pick up and they did away with their bulk stuff a while ago. They have plenty of packaged goods, frozen, supplements. Their Dr. Bronners are always 9.99 which is a deal. Sometime I come looking for jams and don’t particularly like their choices. Wish they had bulk Coffee (I like bulk equal exchange).

I adored this market. This is where I went vegan for the first time. Jesus, that was, like, the best diet EVER! They have tasty deli foods and they carry dr. Macdougalls tortilla soup.

Love this place! The prices are really fair/​competitive! For food, their offer isn’t necessarily as robust as Whole Foods, but it’s a great assortment and they’ll get you something if you request it. All of this and service with a smile! One other note, all of their fairly priced produce is ACTUALLY organic… I find that other surrounding grocers (like Gourmet Garage) make it seem like their produce is all/​mostly organic, but then upon further investigation most is conventional… AND when you find the organic stuff it’s super pricey!

I come here a couple of times a week to get grocery. It has lots of organic vegan options. It is pretty well stocked and staff are helpful. I think of it as a mini Whole Foods, but without the lines and crowds. And you can feel good about supporting a local health food store. Definitely check it out.

A bit of a maze to negotiate and narrow aisles but they do manage to jam a lot of stuff into the space and it is usually well stocked. Prices are very good (lowest price for almond milk anywhere I have seen). Staff seems pleasant and helpful.

Think: Whole Foods quality for a much cheaper, reasonable price.

Although the aisles in the store are somewhat cramped, they are very well stocked with essentials and then some. Great vitamin selection and they have health drinks I like for a price that I love.
There was a man stocking shelves (I didn’t catch his name) who stopped what he was doing to help me find a product. The women at the counter were nice to me when I came as well, so I can’t say that anyone that helped me had a bad attitude.
I will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic health food grocer with a wide selection. They also deliver now which is a great help to me. The staff and Manager are friendly and always helpful. I go there weekly and recommend Health and Harmony highly. Not a chain either. I find items there I cannot locate in other nearby health food, organic grocers.

So, they didn’t have what I wanted (chestnut flour) but for a small store, they were pretty well stocked. And for a place in the city? Pretty reasonable priced. Everyone was friendly to me so I’m not sure what the other reviews are about.

Bad, bad, extremely bad customer service that is only rivaled by the customer service I’ve experienced at Korean-​owned and Korean-​staffed places in guess where — Koreatown in Manhattan (as heads up, usually mean service is reserved for anyone who is not white, Korean, or white and Korean).
Health & Harmony offers healthy foods at affordable prices for Manhattan, but the customer service they provide is terrible, from management down to the cashiers and I HAVE spoken to the manager, so I know what I’m talking about.
Mean attitudes to customers. Guess what? Everyone is a customer regardless if they’re paying cash or using food stamps. I’ve waited in line and seen how the cashiers treat people who don’t look like their preferred trust-​fund (usually white) types with pure disrespect, maliciousness, and scorn.
It’s funny as well because the name of the store is «Health & Harmony» but the service here is anything BUT harmonious. I shop now at Trader Joe’s more often or basically anywhere else BUT here. Utterly cr*p customer service and store management.

Dude, I just love this place. Always super friendly and helpful service and they always make me feel like they really appreciate my business. You can’t beat these prices in New York City (ahem ahem Gourmet Garage)! Almond milk= $ 1.99, GT’s Kombucha= $ 3.99, 16 oz of Fresh Bee Pollen= $ 19.99. These are good prices! They have a lot of selection for vegans and vegetarians and although their produce aisle is limited, it has the necessities and it’s all organic. Always a pleasure to visit ;)

well edited, fantastic offerings of organic produce and apothecary, and, the prices are lower than those offered at the chain grocers which is not what consumers usually think of when they shop at an independent.
As someone who has been diagnosed with food allergies since the 1970’s, i.e., well aware of how limiting a ‘fill in the blank’ free diet can be, I am very thankful that they put so much effort in to stocking so many usual foods but made from various ingredients, i.e., they seem to understand that just because someone is allergic to wheat it doesn’t mean they can eat quinoa.
Also, they personally try all of the foods and apothecary themselves to make sure that they are just as tasty/​effective as the supplier markets them as, and, the staff takes into consideration customers comments, etc.
The owners, the management, the staff are all lovely and very professional.
This store is a neighborhood treasure and a model for other independent organic food stores.

I adore this store. I live in the neighborhood, and I buy groceries here every week. The produce is always fresh, the selection of diary products is extensive, and I’m constantly discovering new brands I love. It’s also super clean and well organized. Plus, all of the employees and owners are great: helpful, knowledgeable, friendly. It really feels like the neighborhood shop that it is, and it’s just fun to shop here. Oh, and if you’re in the area and want a healthy/​good snack to go, they have all kinds of super tasty drinks, sandwiches, noodles, macro sushi, chocolate, granola bars, chips, etc…

Although I live across town, Health & Harmony is fortunately close to several of my clients, so I’m in there at least once a week.
I love that they’re not a chain; because of stores like H&H, I never have to go to WholeMart™, and that’s a gift. They’re ridiculously well-​stocked; there are a few items I’ve found there that I haven’t found anywhere else – particularly the Daiya cheese wedges, which were there once. I bought every flavor they had, and that’s a good thing, because I haven’t seen them anywhere since. They’ll be back.
So if I can’t find something anywhere else, I make sure to stop in here, because they often have it. (Most recently it was the mung bean «fettuchini,» and I haven’t seen that anywhere else.) They also have great prices on produce; although I usually buy my fruit and veggies closer to home, I’ve been known to grab a few avocados here when they’re particularly cheap. (Oh, and by the way… the chicks at the counter aren’t «mean» and «rude» and «unprofessional:» they laugh at my jokes, they give me correct change. You try being a cashier in NYC for a day!)

Cute and healthy place. Fresh fruit and veggies which is all I really go in there for along with their enormous tea selection. Narrow isles, but you can get lost in there very quickly if you don’t know where you’re going.
They have a wide selection of organics which helps if you’re lactose intolerant like me. They also have gluten free items as well.

This review is aimed at the owner:
Train the female staff to act professional when you are not there.
They are mean.
They are rude and I have called you in the past about them.
What is weird is that they are always different ones.
What is going on?

It’s really been bugging me about writing about this place. I have been frequenting it for many many many years.
It puts a huge pit in my stomach every time I go in because of the women who work behind the desk. They are so mean — especially when the managers or owners are not around. Today she slammed my credit card down, another day they grab my stuff angrily — what is it?
Please owner — do you want to be a beloved neighborhood store? Please Please tell these women to perhaps take one of the many mood enhancing women’s pills you have to calm down and treat customers normally!
I will not come back unless I see some changes.
I strongly advice against filtering this review — if you are a decent business, then make the changes and I will revise this in the future. If you filter it I will keep writing it in a way that it gets read and publicize your actions.

I love this health food store! I’m a new New Yorker, just moved up here from NC, and when I first arrived I was flabbergasted by the NY prices. All prices. Groceries, drinks, dinners, lunch, movie theaters, you name it, it was way cheaper in NC.
So, of course a health food store in the West Village would be no different. Au contraire, it’s even more affordable than some of the health food stores down south! A whole box of E-​mergency is only $ 9.99! In NC it was at least $ 12!
Forget Grestedes, forget D’agastinos! Health & Harmony is where it’s at!
