Helen Mills Event Space and Theater was established by real estate entrepreneur and arts patron Helen Mills, who wanted to create a beautiful and unique space with the idea of bringing people together, whether in business, celebration, or to create those special moments to remember.

Helen is an entrepreneur who has a passion for creating beautiful spaces where people can work and celebrate important moments in their lives.

In her free time, Helen serves on the board of several non profits and educational institutions, including Baruch College and New York Live Arts. Helen also enjoys growing lots of vegetables and flowers.

I was here at the event space and the theater, which was located next door in the lower level. The screening rooms hold about 100 – 200 people and creates an intimate setting for small talks and Q&A. I thought it was great that they had a place for me to plug in to charge my phone battery against one of the walls in the back. However, internet connectivity was non-​existent. The Helen Mills Event Space was very nice — I was here for the Shop for Success event — which was great — they had nice sofas to sit on, and the space can be easily organized in many formats. I look forward to many more events here as well.

As others have noted, the location and elegant building make it a hidden gem. The design is understated with a light, airy, spacious feel to the main room. We didn’t use the theater so I can’t speak to that, but the management was superb: communications were prompt and friendly, they are accommodating and attentive (Helen Mills herself came by and cleaned the sidewalk!), and the onsite manager, Marc, was relaxed and cheerful, helping to set a great mood for our weekend educational symposium. I highly recommend this venue for your next event.

Intimate, cozy, well lit, modern clean bathrooms, and temperature controlled event center. Was here last night for an invite-​only Food Fête event for press and bloggers. Was my first time at this event space and can tell it is well maintained. Bar area for drinks, nice hardwood floors, good staff. Coat check too.
Easy to get to. On 26th between 6th and 7th. Some nice bars and places to eat along this street. Also features a 140-​seat theater and screening room, and occasional live performances.

Excellent event space at a very reasonable price! We held our launch event at this venue and it was a huge success! Great space, intimate atmosphere, clean, centrally-​located, and an extremely competent staff. I highly recommend this venue for any event!

I just hosted a benefit panel and cocktail reception for nearly 200 and had a wonderful experience. Thanks to the helpful staff, we were able to prepare the space in about 2 hours. Before the event, everyone was extremely responsive and helpful, which made the event itself run smoothly. Highly recommended.

We recently held our Company event at Helen Mills and it was a great event from beginning to end. Working with Christine and Mark was a great experience and they were very accommodating throughout the entire process. At the end of the event we had happy executives and happy employees; and at the end of the day that’s what we wanted. Great!

I had my wedding reception at Helen Mills and I couldn’t have asked for a better venue! The space feels open and the bar is gorgeous. Everyone was courteous, professional, helpful with suggestions, and did everything they could to take the stress out of our big day. We did a seated dinner for 125 guests and still had room for two separate buffet tables and a sizable dance floor. The guys had a great outdoor space to enjoy their celebratory cigars. The proximity to hotels is almost overwhelming (there are 8 hotels in three or four blocks) which was perfect for our older out of town guests that wouldn’t be able to walk any further. Great location+great service=best wedding ever.

Went to the Helen Mills Theater again last night for a benefit concert. It was only my second time there but I really like the intimacy of this space. It looks like it seats about 150.
The lighting and slope of the seating and the small stage really provide the perfect atmosphere for performance. You feel every note from singers! Great space and I would highly recommend it. Ideal central location too.

This is really a kind of undercover, unassuming nice space, hidden away next to the Helen Mills theater. Granted, I was there for a low budget (but oh yes, open bar) Fordham alumni event. It has a really gorgeous cherry hardwood bar and a huge, open ambiance. All of the colors are light but still provide the right drama paired with the outdoor patio.
Fact: I still don’t feel like I’m old enough to go anywhere with a coat check. True story.
Though the décor was definitely minimalist because of the event I attended there, I really think the space has potential to be something great and memorable and would definitely consider having a party of my own here.
