I work… A lot! So sometimes everyday tasks like you know– grocery shopping ends up on the bottom of my to do list. So when I came across a groupon for a healthy food delivery service I jumped on it!
The way the service works explicitly says that’s it’s a auto renewing service, so the fact that people tend to complain about this, baffles me. You gotta READ. It truly is fundamental folks.
The food comes prepackaged by meal which is quite convenient. It includes everything you will need for the recipe but they expect you to have the basics (salt, pepper, water, oil). It also includes easy to follow recipe cards with photos.
Most of the meals have an estimated time of 30 minutes which for the most part is true. However, the ingredients do not come pre chopped so THAT takes forever. I did a soup one time that took almost an hour JUST FOR CHOPPING ALONE. The onions man… Those darned onions! I would recommend getting a high quality food dicer. That would probably help shave off some time… And tears.
Although it is auto renewing– I like that you can skip weeks if you don’t like the recipes they are offering a particular week or if you are going on vacation, etc.
I don’t like that the website, app and mobile site are so different. It’s sometimes hard to know where to go to do certain things like skip a week or change delivery preferences. So I would say some streamlining is necessary in that regard.
Overall, I would have to say due to the convenience, tasty meals, super fresh ingredients, and great customer service– they have made me a loyal customer.

I canceled this service using the website within minutes of ordering it because it wouldn’t meet my family’s dietary restrictions. Three weeks later I received an email with a ship notification. When I called customer service, they told me that my online cancellation only canceled the subscription and that you needed to call in to cancel anything else (this was not transparent). When I look on the website, there is no history of the order on my account and the status is shown as inactive. The customer service team told me that they couldn’t do anything. When I asked for a manager, I was offered a 50% refund… for a product that I did not order and do not want. And, when I pushed, I was told that this was the «best offer». I ended up having to dispute the transaction with my credit card company.
The customer service is terrible and their communication is very shady. I would recommend another service provider!

TERRIBLE. food was rotten. My card was charged multiple times for one box I received. The customer service people have no idea what they are talking about and are not willing to help. I was on hold for hours. And no refund was given. I do not recommend this company. Disgusting recipes. Not worth the hassle.

I had delivery setup for every 2 weeks. I finally cancelled because they did not want to replace the rotting vegetables. I had to go out and purchase all new veggies. When the rep called me and wanted my feedback why I cancelled, I told her because they didn’t replace the veggies and she hung up on me. Oh well, there are other companies similar to this but better.

I ordered a box that was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but never arrived.
I called the support line and emailed customer support multiple times to report this, and got no reply. Finally I got through today and was able to speak to a manager. The woman I spoke with was rude and condescending, and said that I MUST have received the box since the courier said it had been delivered — basically insinuating that I had the box and was trying to get a 2^nd free one out of them! She said that «as a courtesy» I would not be charged for the box that «I said didn’t arrive», but they would not send me a new box. Thanks — what a courtesy not to be charged for something that I didn’t receive. Terrible customer service. Unreliable. Subscription cancelled.
Stick to Blue Apron or Plated.

I don’t like shady operations and that is what Hello Fresh is. I bought a $ 35 Groupon for a 1 Week (3 meals) trial. After that 1^st delivery which should have been my ONLY DELIVERY, Hello Fresh promptly pre-​billed my credit card for an additional 3 weeks, dropping box after box on my doorstep. My $ 35 purchase turned into $ 140.00 investment IN 7 DAYS!
As a business owner myself, I believe in transparency and honesty. I would never do something as dishonest and underhanded as this Groupon ruse that Hello Fresh is taking part in right now.
If you read further, you’ll see other people complaining about the same deceitful tactics thru their Groupon’s.

While I appreciate the concept of your business, I am extremely dissatisfied with your business. The produce we received was NOT fresh. By Thursday, 2/​18, (we got our delivery outside of the delivery time on ²⁄₁₅), the celery was already wilted, cauliflower was molded, green beans had mold and were covered with soft spots, and potatoes sprouted. None of this would have happened under 3 days in the fridge. When I called customer service, your agent, Portia, told me that it’s not her responsibility that now we have to order delivery for dinner because the products we received were inedible. We did not shop for groceries because we believed your company would provide edible food! Instead of agreeing to reimburse me, she offered only a credit for another box. We are working professionals and do not have time to shop. That is why I tried out your service. Why does your company think that another week of potentially inedible food will be an acceptable solution for my family?
I want to let you know that your customer service is also subpar. I spoke with Portia tonight from 9:36 — 9:48pm ET and she let us know that a supervisor would be giving a call back within 15 minutes. That never happened.
By the way, your customer service phone stops patching calls through at 10pm ET, instead of the 11PM ET you state in your website.

The food wasn’t that great and if you do not unsubscribe right away they will charge you for the next meal even if you didn’t want to receiving them.

I have had really good food and great service. Due to a snow storm, my delivery was delayed, with a friday delivery scheduled, that means it sits in a UPS building until Monday to be delivered. Boo. This is fish, folks… that’s scary stuff. I called (kind of expecting a bit of a fight after looking at recent reviews on different sites) and got great service. GREAT service. Be nice and people are nice back. The food has all been delicious. The service was good. It IS a subscription service, so if you don’t want a box, you can’t forget to skip delivery by the date they tell you or else you’ll get it, so… skip right away and decide later if you want more deliveries. I juggle 4 different food subscriptions right now, i work full time and travel 80% of my month, but i just check the aps, decide which I want to partake in and go. It’s easy if you care enough to check back. Good job Hello Fresh, and great job to my CS person, I believe her name was Kenyetta.

I was really looking forward to getting my first delivery today. My account was charged over a week ago, and the delivery was scheduled for today. Unfortunately, the delivery never showed up. I called this evening around 8:10pm and was on hold for over 40 minutes. Eventually, an automated voice apologized for not being able to take my call and abruptly disconnected my call. I will be canceling my account and getting a refund. What a waste of my time and money.

We love this. We are empty nesters who just can’t seem to get used to buying and cooking for two. I spend a fortune in the supermarket, and yet still look in the freezer/​refrigerator thinking that there really isn’t anything to eat. Things go bad because there is too much of it, or I can’t think of what to cook with it. The amount of waste has been disturbing me.
So, I thought I’d give this a try. Yes, it’s more expensive than buying the same ingredients yourself, but I honestly just end up cooking the same old stuff again and again. When I want to try something different, the cost of a new spice is ridiculous if you are only going to use it once. Takeout is just too salty and fattening for every day. Chinese the other day was $ 40.00 for the two of us. I was spending at least 150 per week at the supermarket anyway, and still didn’t really have everything I need.
This is a godsend so far. It’s winter, so the food has been fresh and cold, and is very well packed. I can’t say how it will be in the summer. All the meat is surrounded by 4 huge ice packs, and the fish that was delivered the other day had an ice pack in the bag, lying against it.
We’ve learned new recipes and techniques, and can enjoy cooking again. For the most part, the directions are great. We can control the salt and oil, and the portions are adequate for us. My large 6’4″ husband hasn’t complained at all (and he was a cook for a time!) You really just need a salad and you are good to go. The variety has been tremendous. Today I had the Jaime Oliver Eggplant Stew. Yum!
My son and his girlfriend are loving it too, especially since they had been eating takeout way too much. (I was able to send them a free week!) In their twenties, they plan to continue with the service because they feel they are saving money and love cooking together. (Awwww).
We are saving a lot and eating waaaay healthier. Just about everything has been really, really delicious. You can check their website, I believe, and check the recipes out yourself. You get a choice of 3 out of 5 recipes.
******They used to send Murray’s chicken, and beef from a Pennsylvania farm close to here. But lately, the meat/​chicken packaging has changed. I did send an email and hope that the quality is the same. I kind of liked knowing where the meat was coming from.
By the way, it’s very easy to pause as many boxes as you wish, so I don’t feel pressured at all to receive food I don’t need.

I started Hello Fresh about a month ago and absolutely LOVE it! Both my husband and I work full time and enjoy cooking together, so we thought this would be worth trying for a week or two. The idea of having your meals/​ingredients mailed to you, along with instructions on how to prepare everything in less than 35 minutes was fabulous! Not to mention, they’re HEALTHY meals! Fresh ingredients! I’ve been referring my family and friends to join as well!
We have auto delivery and due to the blizzard, Jonas, this past weekend, our delivery was delayed 4 days. As expected, the box spoiled. I then called customer service to see what our next step would be. Due to high volume, there was an over 20 minute wait time. (I’m not too happy about the wait but it happens) Once I spoke to the «Friendly Fresher», she was super nice and credited our account for the spoiled box. She was very professional, empathetic and apologized for any inconvenience. I also received an email confirmation afterwards from her. Kudos to Debra L.!!

Hello Fresh — what a FANTASTIC idea for someone who has the money for it, hates grocery shopping, figuring out recipes, etc (it’s a lot of work!). This box came with all of the items I needed for 3 complete meals (with side dishes!), fairly easy recipes and a very tasty outcome. That’s the good, then there is their customer service… where it all goes terribly wrong.
I personally am a brand new Mom with a very colicky baby (grocery shopping is OUT of the question), and a husband who travels a lot (he’s enlisted in the Air Force). So when I saw a Groupon for $ 35 for «One Week of meals» with the ingredients delivered TO MY DOOR, I was THRILLED, and bought it right away. The price met my budget, and the fact that everything comes straight to me, no grocery store, was immediately enticing for me. The box was great, the meals were yummy and I was even able to prepare them with a crying baby on my hip.
The problem, however, came when I week later I got a notice that I was being charged another $ 69 for another box. WHAT?! My groupon clearly stated «One Week»!!! I wrote to them *immediately* and said there must be some confusion please cancel this ASAP, as we’re living on one paycheck while I’m on maternity leave, and this isn’t in our budget… Their response was shocking. «No, when you signed up for your one groupon meal, you also agreed to a weekly subscription there is nothing we can do for you.» Again, I responded kindly sharing that I must have missed that somehow (frankly, I’m not shocked I did — have I yet mentioned my screaming newborn and traveling husband?) and they were unsympathetic. As other reviewers have mentioned on Amazon (it at least feels good to know I’m not alone in these issues), their customer service was disappointing to say the LEAST. Hello Fresh would have been a 5-​star for me had this not been such a terrible experience, and let’s face it — customer service is 95% of the game. Had they canceled this right away like I had asked (quite a few days before the box was scheduled to arrive, I might add), they would have had me (and I’m confident MANY of my friends) as customers for life.
The saddest part is that I had told my husband that once I’m getting a paycheck again, we have to try this again once in awhile on the crazy weeks, however, after this customer service, I will NEVER purchase from them again, and will be sharing my experience with all of my Mom friends — many of whom I’m sure, would have also loved to have tried this program.

**SIDE POSITIVE NOTE** As a frequent Groupon purchaser, I contacted the Groupon to let them know what happened. They said they were disappointed to hear about this response from the company and they issued me a credit! I was NOT expecting this from Groupon, I was just sharing this experience so they can warn other people (again, who obviously there are many others who have had this same experience judging from all of the terrible reviews on amazon, google, etc.). Now THAT is amazing customer service, and they didn’t even do anything wrong to have to give me a credit! Now there is a company I will forever do business with!!!
