Job seekers are called«clients.» That little touch tells you that they take their mission seriously. They have a 10-PC computer lab. They have classrooms. And they have a dedicated staff. Every six to eight weeks, they host as many as 30 to 40 unemployed adults(with some teens) in their three-week long JET program. JET stands for«Job Enhancement Training» and it works. They’ll help you craft your resume or improve it if you already have one. They’ll give you advice on passing job interviews. They’ll help you with as many things as possible to make your job search successful. Their program suits blue-collar job applicants best. To give you an idea, some typical positions that are filled are: driver, cook, housekeeper, sales clerk, and security guard. Excerpt from their website: «The Workforce Development Center provides community members with opportunities to improve skills and build confidence to secure employment. Our program(also available for non-fluent English speakers) provides the tools and resources needed to begin and complete a successful job search. Even after a job is secured, we continue to work with clients, offering alumni activities to help with career advancement.» Oh, and their services are free. What a resource they are!
