We cannot say enough great things about Dr. McCulloch.
She visited our home after our 12 year old beagle was not well. Limited by what could be done outside of a hospital setting she guided us through the possibilities. She followed up with us and our vet with great care and compassion.
In the end our dog was diagnosed with cancer and nothing else could be done. She once again visited us and took care of our puppy and us. Making sure we were informed, felt comfortable about our decision and said our good byes. Our puppy went into the most peaceful sleep, and Dr. M wrapped her up in a blanket with one of her stuffed animals. Nothing clinical, rushed, or insensitive.

Our beautiful Maine Coon cat was suffering from effects of fibrosarcoma, after two surgeries and a long few months of intensive care at home he told me it was time for him to go. Nothing is easy about being in this situation but Dr. McCullough made it the best we could hope for. I found her info online and spoke with her very quickly, explaining the situation, and though she had other clients that day she was able to fit us in only a few hours after my call to her. Not only was she easy to communicate with about the emergency appointment, but she was incredibly compassionate and her calm and kind demeanor helped to put us at ease, as much as one can possibly be during a time like that.
Maybe we’ve come to expect the same arrogance and cold feeling we’ve experienced from certain other vets in recent years. I was really happy with how she conducted herself and would recommend her to anyone. Thank you Dr. McCullough, for making a difficult time just the slightest bit easier.

Dr McCulloch, Wendy, just made one of the worst days of my life a little easier. What a fantastic, compassionate, professional vet and human. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Our cat (fuzzchild) was diagnosed with cancer which we thought we were maintaining with treatment until she began to quickly decline. We were heart broken. I found Dr. McCulloch online and began tentatively messaging her. Though it was late, she responded right away and respectfully gave us the time it was clear we needed to finalize our choice. We missed our tentative window the next day but when I called to see if she could still come she was able to come right away.
I was terrified of having to do something so emotionally counterintuitive when all we wanted was a miracle to save our baby. But Dr. M’s immediate tenderness and love with us and our kitty helped us feel at ease. Her assessment and reassurance about our cat also helped us feel at peace with our decision.
The Dr. allowed us time and privacy to say goodbye and our little one relaxed on our lap, eased of her pain before she slipped away painlessly in her sleep. We were grateful to be home and not having to disrupt her final moments with us.
Thank you, Doctor, so much for your tenderness, empathy and for being so available when you were so greatly needed.

When my beloved Bichon was sick I knew I wanted to euthanize her in my home. I did a google search and found her, coincidently I was at the ENT’s and she recommended her. Dr. McColluch was very professional but also compassionate. It made one of the worst days in my life a little more bearable. I would never do it any other way. I called her and within an hour she was there. It is expensive and worth every penny!

My 20 year old cat had been in good health for most of his life but he suddenly started to decline rapidly. After a simple surgical procedure, my vet discovered a tumor in his mouth and gave him a «few days» to live, but he lasted another three months in relative normality.
I decided that if it seemed like he was suffering greatly, I’d rather euthanize him than let him linger in pain. My cat hated traveling to the vet and so I couldn’t imagine him putting him through that anxiety during his final hours. I was glad to discover that there was an in-​home vet who could provide this service.
When the sad day arrived (my cat had stopped eating and drinking), I called Dr. Wendy McCullough in the morning and she was able to make an appointment that same afternoon, even though it was a weekend. She arrived a few hours later. I was very nervous, but Dr. McCullough put my mind at ease. She was extremely comforting, and after a quick examination, she assured me that I’d made the right decision and she took the time to explain not only what was going on with my cat, but how the end-​of-​life procedure would work. She was knowledgeable, kind, and professional. I truly could not have asked for better. The service cost $ 350 and it was worth every penny. Since I have a house upstate, I planned to bury my pet, so I didn’t opt for the cremation and I can’t say how much extra that would be.
I think it must take someone with a special calling to do this kind of work, and I’m glad that Dr. McCullough is there. What started out as a day of fear and dread, ended with peace and calm.

When my 18-​year-​old cat started vocalizing constantly and seeming like he was in extreme discomfort I decided it might be time to put him to sleep, but I have put some pets to sleep over the years and always feared that the method of giving them a paralytic and then something to stop their heart might be painful torture, and I couldn’t face sending him off on a steel table under fluorescent lights, so I kept delaying. Dr. McCullough came to my apartment and assessed my cat, we agreed that he was in pain and it was time, and she gave him a quick under-​the-​skin injection of a sleeping drug in his own bed. He fell asleep, then she gave him an OD of pentobarbitol and he was gone in less than a minute. It was a peaceful way to go, no stress or pain for him. This vet is incredibly gentle and compassionate, and she was so expert and explained everything as we went. I am very grateful that she offers this service and wouldn’t put a pet to sleep any other way.

It is so difficult to get my cat Jasper into the carrier that it’s always a nightmare for both of us. Perhaps because he only goes in the carrier when he’s going to the vet, he is terrified of it. He’s not really the kind of cat that can be easily picked up. Since I had to find a new vet after moving to a new neighborhood, I decided to try a house call for his annual checkup. Dr. M was very nice and as she took his medical history, she was hoping Jasper would get used to her presence. He doesn’t hide from strangers, and he’s very cuddly with me, but her suggestion that I pick him up and hand him to her. I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Our next idea was cornering him in the bathroom, which turned out to be also kind of difficult as he ran out before the vet could come into the bathroom. Then she thought we could wrap him in a bath towel. One of these methods would work for most cats, but not my slippery guy. Finally she had to just scruff him and conduct the exam with him scruffed the whole time. That’s the only way to restrain my Jasper, unfortunately. It usually takes a vet and a veterinary nurse to clip his claws, and he sort of has to be pinned down the entire time, it just can’t be done by one person, not even a vet. I find it very hard to scruff him (my friend helped me last time I had to get him in the carrier) and Dr. M explained that’s because he has very little loose skin to scruff. Unfortunately this means his claws are trimmed only once a year when he sees the vet, which is not ideal. Amazingly, Dr. M managed to restrain him and check his teeth, listen to his heart and his breathing, give him his vaccine shots, and then together we clipped his nails, with her extending the claw while I trimmed, and poor Jasper was scruffed the entire time. It was fast though, and he was pretty insulted about it when he finally got to go hide under a chair, but he forgot about it a few hours later.
Dr. M was kind, professional, and quick. I thought it’d be pretty expensive but his checkup, two vaccines, and claw trimming came to $ 280 which is really not that much more than bringing him to the vet, and a lot less stressful for us both. So we’re going to stick with Dr. M’s house calls from now on!

My cat would freak out whenever I took her to a vet’s office; it was upsetting for her and the staff. So I was grateful to find a vet who makes house calls. McColloch was so understanding and even though my cat was hissing and howling, Dr. McColloch was very gentle and compassionate, and she answered all of my follow up questions.

Seriously, you can’t beat NYC! I was thrilled to find a vet that would come to the apartment, as my kitty freaks out to no end when forced to get in her carrier. Dr. McCulloch was thorough, knowledgeable and very approachable. I loved that Dr. McColluch could see the cat in her usual environment, and I was able to really provide a visual for what/​how things transpire in our world. My cat was able to come to her, instead of her shaking and crying on a cold table, and she could wander off when she felt like it. Wendy had all of her equipment with her, which she didn’t need thankfully, but I would call her again in a heartbeat if I had an emergency, or a concern that i thought she would handle better than my vet. I need to continue to go to my regular vet because I can’t afford a home visit every time, but I will for sure use Dr. McCulloch again. She’s excellent!

One day I realized that my cat should no longer go on. He was suffering and I didn’t want him suffering even one more day. I called various vets in Brooklyn and no one would come to my home, not even vets I had worked with for years and given thousands of dollars to. I called Pet Loss At Home which put me in touch with a vet in Westchester who would charge me $ 600. The price was a bit steep but anything for my fur baby. However, the vet rattled me. She cracked strange jokes and her tone was snappish. Eventually she told me my cat would only feel a «poke in the butt.» I had no idea what she was talking about, I have put down about 4 cats now and no vet has ever poked them in the butt! Despite my cat’s suffering & and my determination to find a vet that day, I cancelled that vet. Finally I found Pet Loss Requiem through Google. At first, gun-​shy from my experience with that other strange vet, I was suspicious of Dr. Wendy McCullough and when she asked me to fill out a form on her site I got slightly angry, thinking I would fill out a long form (meanwhile my cat was in pain) and never hear from her again. But shortly after I filled out the form, she emailed me. She agreed to come to my home in a few hours and she also agreed I could bring my cat to my own vet for cremation, which would save me about $ 200. But most importantly, she was nice, normal, and compassionate. When someone is sitting there almost face to face with you as you stroke and comfort your furbaby it is important that you feel this person has empathy, understanding, and KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I felt all of this with Dr. McCullough. The death was very peaceful. My kitty drifted off to a contented sleep (he was even snoring slightly) and then he drifted away. The only thing I would say that maybe could have been done differently is that Dr. McCullough didn’t bring anything to wrap the body in, so I had to see the body for quite awhile. However, perhaps that was because I said I would take care of the body myself. At any rate, it turned out that I wanted to see his body for a bit anyway. I really thank her for coming that day because I really felt it was necessary. Thank you.

Dr. McCulloch is one in a million. We were scared to put our beloved dog to sleep and she made us feel comfortable. She is professional and compassionate. I would recommend her beyond compare.

I can’t say enough about Dr. McCulloch. She is the best vet my cats, Spencer and Spicy, have ever had. We first met Dr. McCulloch when we thought Spencer was going to pass. He had gone to another vet multiple times and was getting sicker by the day. She saved his life at that time, and we had 3 more wonderful years with him. When he did get sick again, Dr. McCulloch came to our home and helped him pass comfortably, in my arms. I am grateful for her compassion during that time. Dr. McCulloch is now treating Spicy and has even made an emergency house call. I highly recommend Dr McCulloch, above any other vet.

I can’t recommend Dr. McCullough highly enough, whether you consult her for a regular house call or an at home euthanasia. She is smart, kind, compassionate and a truly gifted vet. I am very grateful to her for helping Daisy die at home, peacefully in my arms.

Dr. McCullough is a kind, friendly and knowledgeable vet, and I would entrust any animal in her care. I met Dr. McCullough when I needed emergency home care for a very sick golden. She graciously made a house call over Thanksgiving weekend, and handled the situation with the utmost compassion and care. Our dog was able to die peacefully and painlessly in his own home, and I am so grateful to have had her support and expertise.

In July, I had to make the very difficult decision to have my constant companion of 15 years put down. Her health had been steadily declining and I had to face the reality of the situation. My only regret is that I waited until the very last minute. I should have called Pet Requiem a week earlier. When I finally did call, the Doctor sent her colleague Dr. North. He couldn’t have been nicer and more compassionate. He sensed the immediacy of the situation and got right to work. Roxy left us on her favorite coach, at peace, at home with her family. I will always be grateful to Dr. North and to Pet Requiem. One week later, her ashes arrived in a beautiful cedar box. They turned the unimaginable into a good memory. Thank you!

One of my cats does not travel well and does not like strangers. The last time I had to take him to the vet it was a complete disaster, so when he got sick recently, I knew I would have to find someone to make a house-​call. I am so happy I chose Dr. Wendy McCulloch. She was incredibly friendly and professional. When it came to taking care of my cat, she was kind, but firm and made the whole experience much better for him that it otherwise would have been. I really can’t thank her enough.

I highly recommend this service and Dr. Wendy McCullough, who made my cat’s last moments the absolute best they could be. The small extra expense was more than worth it to spare my poor sick old cat the stress of a cat carrier, procedures and an examining table. The vet is compassionate, warm, and totally professional. I’m so, so glad I decided to do it this way and with this vet.

Yesterday we had to make the heart wrenching decision to end the suffering of our 20 year old feline friend, Calvin. While it was obvious that his quality of life was no longer good, the last thing we wanted to do was have his final moments filled with the emotional stress of a trip to the vet’s office. Dr. McCulloch has a wonderful bedside manner and we are thankful that she was able to ease our furry friend’s pain in the most humane way possible.

I couldn’t agree more with Jill G’s review of Dr. Wendy McCullough and Pet Requiem. We had to have our cat euthanized just yesterday and to have this done in our home in familar surroundings was so much easier for all of us. Wendy is kind, caring and I am so thankful that I was able to find her to come and help us with our sweet loving cat.
