Love this place. Professional and excellent work. I have been going for years and have recommended several friends who have not been disappointed.

DO NOT GO HERE. Long story short this place is a scam. They charge $ 65 for a wash and then $ 55 for trim, however, their «trim» supposedly does not include evening out your hair, If you want it to be evened out that cost you $ 85! I have never been to place charging $ 55 for trim and refusing to even out your hair! Then after charging me $ 150 for a wash and hair cut, my hair was completely flat and life less. I asked the stylist to curl my hair and she told me «no that doesn’t come with it!» I was completely taken aback! I thought I was paying for an upscale salon experience with an expert stylist. What I got was an overpriced wash and set with mediocre service.

I have found my new Salon!!! I came in with a fresh weave needing a dye job and blow out, Helen took care of me, and I’m so glad that she did, it was the best blow out I ever had in my life, when I went to the Bahamas the ladies were chasing me down the streets asking me about my hair, not to mention I was an hour late and Helen and Latoya the owner both had to stay late, they were very accommodating and I felt so bad, they kept offering me mimosas and even sent someone outside to get my food from The Cecil since they did not deliver, the customer service is top notch, I wanted my hair to be the blackest black and boy did Helen deliver, They also use Phyto products which are the best, I would highly recommend this salon.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON FOR A WEAVE. Why? Ghee let me count the ways…
I was told the weave was 300. But this is the base price. To take down the weave is another $ 40. To trim the weave to shape your face /​head they charge $ 40 (duster). Ridiculous! Then i requested to lighten the weave, they charge another $ 40 and it wasn’t even to my liking nor did they bother to confirm if this is how light I want it. They have an assistant and a weavologist on your head which means you must tip both people. I was very upset for every surcharge for every little thing. Also the assistant and weavologist were 20 min late. I had a 9 am appt.
Personally, Latoya the owner appears professional but it’s all talk no followthrough. You may have a salon in Manhattan but for the type of weave you get, you are better going else where. I’m from Atlanta and work with executives i have to look presentable at all times and this weave and the customer service is poor to say the least. Take it from me. I don’t cut corners… and not for the base price of 300 which I didn’t know was base.
Please note that the five stars for this salon are for ashley who maintains and treats natural hair. Not weaves. If you know what’s best for you, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get a weave here. I took my weave out after 4 days because the product that they used to dye my weave also stripped the weave making the weave unmanageable. When they colored the weave, they did NOT condition it. Also they packed too much hair in the weave and I looked like a lioness. And I pay a mint for my extensions.
This place is below par. The owner did say she would call me, especially to resolve my disappointment in my weave. It’s been 3 weeks. No phone call. I dislike black enterprises that don’t manage poor situations or think this is how black women want their crown to be handled.
Don’t be fooled by the ambiance, that and Ashley, the natural hair dresser specialist is about the only thing good they have going. LEAVE… TRY another place.

You know your stylist is awesome when they’re not even finished with your head and you’ve already started feeling yourself. I had the best experience at Honey Salon! I was running late to my appointment and still was treated with so much respect. My stylist Alisha did an AMAZING job on my hair! She gave me a much needed trim, installed my U-​part wig and then gave me a flawless bob. She does wonders with a pair of shears. I’m typically cheap and opt to do my own hair, but this trip was worth every penny. I only interacted with Alisha and LaToya; both ladies were very professional and extremely sweet. Highly recommend visiting here, especially if you’re trying to get cute for a special occasion. You WON’T regret it.

I really appreciated the gesture of the complimentary service today. I returned to Honey after going to them a few times and not leaving with a satisfactory experience because of prior communication barriers. I came on Unilocal and expressed that and the owner took it upon herself to rectify the situation by reaching out and recommending another stylist. A few months later, I decided to try again and the owner and salon manager were both as cordial and professional as could be. I truly appreciated the extended customer service. I intend to visit again.

I love this place!!! Professional, nice, willing to accommodate, always great conversation and my hair always looks amazing:)

I have been to hair salons from Los Angeles to DC to NYC and I must say that Honey Salon is by far the best I have ever been to. Not only has the styling service never disappointed me but the customer service is AMAZING.
The salon owner Latoya is one of the most professional, considerate and helpful women I have ever met. She has even gone so far as to take money out of her own purse to give to me when she realized I had been overcharged a month ago! From the clean and beautifully designed interior of the salon to the mimosas, tea and water they offer you during your service, nothing compares.
They make a sistah feel like Beyoncé when she comes in okay! Lol.
I have recommended many people to this salon and have not had a single person disappointed.

I just moved to Harlem and needed to find a replacement for my Dominican hairdresser in the North Bronx area. After seeing all the great reviews, I gave it a try and I’m definitely returning! I called to make an appt and they were super flexible. My schedule kept changing and they were easy about it. Yuverka did my hair the first time and while I usually spend 2 hours on a wash, roller set and blow dry, I couldn’t have been here more than 1.5 hours. They saw me right way and she listened to my normal routine and went to work. My hair was soft, smelling great and bouncy. When I walked out, as I walked home, I received two compliments! Two days later, my hair is still bouncy and shiny.

Let me explain why I spent $ 150 and left feeling like a million bucks. As a thick haired naturalista with coarse 4B/​C hair I am more than used to constant trauma at salons and dread going in for an annual trim and flat iron. Honey has completely changed that!
First of all, I was greeted when I entered and offered a drink– mimosa, tea, or coffee. The French Vanilla by the way will have Starbucks running for its money it was that good! Things were starting off well.
Then my stylist greeted me and said she would be with me in just a few minutes. My head was in the bowl for a shampoo fifteen minutes after I arrived. That’s a miracle!
Before she started on the process Alysha was upfront about all prices and answering questions. Did I mention I was already in love with this place?
She gave a thorough scalp massage and shampoo followed by a keratin deep conditioner and time under the steamer dryer. She was careful to wrap my ears and forehead to prevent any heat discomfort.
When she started on the blow dry she used a large Aveda paddle brush that didn’t snag or hurt at all. I’m not tender headed so that’s always great. She used high heat and a bit of product but not too much so it wouldn’t get weighed down. She also asked first given my natural hair state whether I was okay with the heat to get it very straight. She never ONCE complained about how thick my hair is and instead explained how hers used to be the same before she cut it! A woman of my own heart!
I waited for about fifteen minutes while she curled another client and then she went to work with the flat iron and a light curl. This was after she very carefully gave me the best cut I’ve ever had. Such precision and attention to detail! Then just a few spritzes of hair spray after the curl and voila I felt like a new woman. Hands down the best experience.
Usually I go to a salon once a year for a cut but I will be returning here several times this year. Honey Salon was considerate, professional, and comfortable. My hair is THICK and has broken combs and bristles before but Alysha did not even bat an eye and did an amazing job. I look like I have a relaxer. Best three hours I have ever spent. I was so happy that after the $ 65 wash condition blow dry and $ 55 cut I still tipped $ 30! That’s how happy I was to go to a salon that gave my locs the love they need. I’m in Heaven right now. Thank you so so much!

good r&b music (appropriate selections lol not R rated as some salons allow)…good atmosphere… great attitudes & vibes throughout the salon… i had my natural hair washed, deep conditioned (steamed)…only thing was there was a bit of a wait because my stylist was working on two of us simultaneously (but this isnt out of the ordinary)…beverages were offered while i waited… only thing i declined was the $ 55 HAIR TRIM… i cant see me paying that much for a HAIR TRIM… i was told a hair cut is the same price sooooo I had to opt out of that option! Rather than that-​great experience.

In my twenty-​something years of salon-​going, Honey Salon is by far my favorite. These days, it’s the only salon I go to.
Scheduling appointments is super easy (just give them a call). On the day of your appointment, you’ll find yourself being assisted at the time you actually requested. No waiting around for hours! So professional! At the start of each visit, someone always offers to bring you a beverage (mimosas!) and hang your coat for you. For real, in many ways they have gone far above and beyond when it comes to customer service for me. But, on to the hair…
You know how at some salons, after you’re done you have to go find a mirror somewhere to adjust your hair to your actual liking? That’s never happened to me here! I usually visit Honey Salon for a wash and style (flat iron) since at the moment my hair is transitioning (for the second time, ugh) and I lack the willpower in this area to do it myself (just being honest). The first time I visited, I was pretty worried (as most people with natural hair are) since my hair gets tangled easily between the two textures, but even with all of that, I was/​am taken care of. No pulling or ripping. The stylists are so caring with their clients’ hair.
Here’s how it typically goes when I visit: first, obviously, someone will wash my hair. Usually it’s Jasmine, who is super sweet and always asks if she’s pulling my hair even though I reached tender-​headed immunity years ago. I’ll note that the sinks here are higher than most other salons so they don’t strain your neck, which is really nice. After washing, my hair gets deep conditioned under the steamer. (I’d never seen one of these until Honey Salon. Pretty cool.) Then, Jasmine rinses and blow dries my hair straight. I’m always amazed at how soft, shiny, and tangle-​free it is at this point. Honestly, I could leave at this stage and just braid it up, wear it in a bun, or do a twist out or something, but, might as well go all the way…
The straightening is done by my regular stylist, Shaun (Sean, Shawn… sp?). He’s the best! (Once when he was away, Chloe styled my hair and she was also awesome.) Whenever I walk out of Honey Salon, my hair is laid! Even the edges. How? I have no idea. I also feel the need to mention that in all the times I’ve gone to Shaun, he’s never burnt me with the straightener. Like, none of that discomfort from the tools being too close to your scalp or anxiety thinking any minute you’re going to get scarred.
I haven’t been to the salon this often since I was a kid and my mom got tired of doing my hair. It is a little pricey, but they do such a great job, and save me so many hours of doing my hair myself (I needed a break from the «wash day» life…), it’s totally worth going when I can. I highly, HIGHLY recommend Honey Salon.

Started going to Honey Salon in December of 2015. Each visit has been with Michelle, who I now consider my hair stylist (and hair care expert). I’ve gone a total of three times; two visits for a partial sewn-​in and color, and one wash and set.
I’ll start with the Salon experience:
Scheduling is always easy; very friendly salon receptionists; the staff in general are all extremely sweet and professional. As others have mentioned, they do always offer beverages, including a mimosa (unfortunately, I’ve never been able to partake as I’m typically scheduled before work). The music is always amazing. Salon vibe overall is perfect. The prices are fair for the caliber of service and I’ve come to realize that it costs to be gorgeous :)
About Michelle:
Love her. She is very chill (like me…) and easy going. Also her and her assistant are always on it. They know what I need before I ask and are willing to take on last minute requests (i.e. adding color, trim) during an appointment without issue. Finally, she and the other stylists are always on point with their own hair, makeup, and dress. Not that this is a deal breaker, but I feel more confident with someone who focuses on presentation. They demonstrate pride in their art. I dig that. The best part is that it is located four blocks from my apartment.
Overall would highly recommend. Lovely group of talented stylists. Happy to consider Honey Salon MY hair salon, and Michelle, my chosen stylist.

Wow! I recently moved from Kentucky to NYC. My mother is a well seasoned cosmotologist. This salon is wonderful!
When I called, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who asked what I’d like done, length of my hair, and gave me a price immediately. She also informed me that they have a seasoned colorist on staff that would consult with me about the color, processes, and any questions I might have.
I got an appointment the day I called! It was moderately busy that cold rainy day. I walked in and was greeted at the counter, my coat was taken and I was offered a mimosa. I waited about 10 minutes (I was early) and then was greeted and consulted by the colorist Chloe, who looked at me and knew instantly that I was a creative individual. She was kind and offered exciting options. She was fast, educated, and confident in her craft! She was also conscious of my budget.
All in all, I only had to get one process to get this gorgeous color! And the cut only took a few minutes! Not to mention the damage to my edges from braids is well hidden! They made me feel like a star!

My first visit was not too great only because of the price. I was told one thing and had to pay double. I was furious when I walked out. Although Fred who did my hair was fabulous, I felt cheated because I was told a different price of how much my hair would cost before I sat down.
The same week I got my hair done, they called to apologize and offered a complimentary visit which I took. I went in and they apologized again. They were very professional and didn’t get upset with me because of my first visit. My second visit I felt very happy and I was more happy with my hair because Fred can definitely do some hair. I walked in looking crazy and walked out feeling confident cuz my hair was gorgeous.

Wow!!! This is my first ever salon visit in New York (suggested by a close friend) but it WONT be my last. The atmosphere is so chill and professional. I didn’t feel like my time was being wasted or I was an after thought as it can feel sometimes in salons. I walked in (with an appointment) and was instantly taken great care of. The assistant (Aura) was amazing. I’m super tender-​headed and without even telling her that info she was so patient and gentle.
And my stylist (Christine) was the BOMB. LOVE LOVE her!!! Came in for a wedding hairdo (no clue what I wanted… and changed my mind 3 times!)!she was so kind and flexible with me. My hair looked great I was so pleased. Worth the money and the experience :)

FYI– just be aware that if you use your CC they will charge you 8.5%. Didn’t know that until after the fact… that blows. So just bring cash!

I went here for my first (and likely last) appointment this past June. I called several days ahead to set up an appointment with Ashley, who wound up being unavailable. Instead, I secured a spot with Angela who — according to the receptionist on the phone — would give me a roller set. Flash forward a few days: the shampoo girl/​experience were fine, so I assumed I was on my way to a successful roller set — I wasn’t. To sum up my issues with the salon:
1) I was told I’d have to pay an extra $ 20 because my hair is in its natural state (bear in mind that it is also very fine, medium density, slightly past shoulder length, and not particularly prone to tangling).
2) After Angela finished blow drying/​yanking my hair into submission, I asked if the rollers near her station were the ones she was planning to use on my hair; she replied that it was «too late» in the process to do anything other than flatiron my hair (which I declined because of the fine nature of my strands). I don’t know whether it was miscommunicated to her which style I desired, or if she/​the salon wanted me out as soon as possible since it was a later appointment; either way, I didn’t get the hairstyle I had sought. (As a credit to Angela, she did wind up «pincurl-​ing» the hair as an alternative to the roller set; it looked nice).
3) I had only gone to this salon in the first place because a friend had purchased a gift card for me as a Christmas gift. When I went to use the card I was all but accused of stealing it, and then a second woman behind the desk tried to keep it from me once they finally accepted the payment (there is still about $ 50 on the card).
Honey Salon would definitely benefit from amping up its customer service experience as well as intra-​salon communication. The salon itself is nice and other people’s hair seemed to turn out well, so it’s definitely not beyond help.

I was hoping it was my imagination, but sadly it’s reality — the crown and nape of my hair sustained noticeable heat damage from the excessive heat/​combing tactics employed during the blow-​drying session. *rage face*
I would dock another star from my rating, but Honey’s owner called me last month to offer a refund or free styling session to give me a better experience with the salon. I appreciate the improvement in customer service, but I think I’ll be taking her up on the full refund…

I went to honey salon on June 19. The atmosphere was really nice I arrived about 15 min late for my appointment and they were really nice about it. Ashley is amazing. She is very knowledgeable about hair. I went in thinking I needed to get a bob cut in order to get rid of all my damaged ends. Ashley assured me that my ends weren’t as nearly damaged as I thought. She gave me tips on my hair type and the phyto specific products she used felt amazing on my hair. The whole process went really fast. I received a wash deep condition steam treatment straighten cut and curl. (Side bar: I have been natural for four years).
The one con was that unfortunately I went on a very hot humid day. Although Ashley used product to keep from frizzing, I have very fine hair and she used close to no product in my hair in order to not weigh my hair down. Needless to say by time I arrived back in queens my hair had begun to puff at the root. I still give 4 stars because my hair feels better than ever and her methods use very little tension and I’m sure I won’t have any heat damage when I finally wash my hair this weekend. You know your hair better than anyone so expert advise doesn’t trump your own knowledge of your hair tendencies. My hair straight just doesn’t work in summer. I accept that lol.
As far as price lets just say it’s a natural salon in ny. I will say it was cheaper than expected. I was prepared to spend the money as a birthday gift to myself so it didn’t hurt as bad.
Overall I really like the salon and will probably go back to get a curly style such as a flexirod set.

I had an overall pleasant experience at this salon. I’ll start by saying that the receptionist is awesome. I got a little lost on the way there. I live in queens and was driving to Harlem for the first time. I called the salon to ask for help and she walked me through the confusion. She even went outside to see if there was parking for me. I got there a little late but it was no problem.
When I arrived my stylist Sean was ready for me. I had a picture of what I wanted and he assured me that he could mimic it. This man gave me the best shampooing I’ve ever received. My hair is extremely soft. It looks thick because it is very curly but once blow dried it will not hold a style without major products. Sean did not realize this until he blew my hair out. Not his fault. My hair is it’s own species. He styled it with a few different tools to see which one would hold the best. When he was done he pin curled it so that it would hold for the rest of the day until I was ready to go to my event later that evening.
I would have given 5 stars but I wish he would have been a little better to my ends with the blow dryer. He used a brush instead of a comb attachment. I could hear my ends snapping off. Like I said my hair blows out extremely easily. I know he didn’t expect it due to my hair’s thick appearance when wet. I will definitely return. Next time I will make sure he is aware of my texture and hopefully it will save my ends.
Side note: although he curled my hair I was still able to wrap it and wear it straight the next day. Overall very happy with my result!

I would really like to rate this salon 5 stars but unfortunately I can’t and here’s why:
1. I would really like to know how does $ 55(the price I quoted over the phone when I made my appointment) turn into $ 119.76(the price I ended up paying and that’s not including the tip)? Now let me start off by saying that I’m not cheap especially when it comes to my hair however I wish I could have been better prepared to pay $ 119.76 instead of $ 55.
2. I had a wonderful style and stylist however about an hour later my beautiful curls turned into a big puff and three hours later a huge fro. When I got out of the shower my huge fro turned into a tight fro and no I didn’t get my hair wet! If I’m going to pay that kind of money I expect for my style to last a little longer than just a few hours. In case you’re wondering, I wear my hair natural so during my first and possibly my last visit I requested a wash, blow out and flat iron. My stylist kept telling me that I have really soft hair but still I didn’t think that I was going to leave the salon with a temporary style especially not after the price I paid. Needless to say have to wear my hair in a ponytail, a style I was trying to avoid.
3. When I walked into the salon I was given a clipboard with two forms to fill out. So what happened to the mimosas that everyone else in the previous reviews were raving about?
***Please understand I am not at all upset with my hair stylist. I’m just upset with the fact I wasted my money, my time and the stylist time on a temporary hair style!
