iDigitize Video Transfer

Excellent digitizing service. I had my kids’ GoPro videos transferred from the micro memory card to a DVD. I dropped the memory card at a local UPS store, which made me nervous because it required some instruction and I couldn’t really explain it to the UPS store guy. But I noted what I needed done, and the service called me to confirm everything. All was done perfectly. Then I received an email to pick-​up the job at the UPS store again. (They would’ve mailed it to me for an extra charge.) The service could only be improved if there were more (closer) drop-​off/​pick-​up points. But overall a great service. (There had been a little digitizing/​photo shop locally, but I presume they couldn’t pay the rent, because it’s gone now. This is a great alternative– and perhaps the only one.)

Incredible service. He is a fairly young guy who is running the business but extremely savvy. I love people who can think forward and this business is definitely one of them. Seamless and timely service with a smile. Thank you for transferring over 26 VHS into DVDs that I will cherish a lifetime.

This Unilocal page and the website of this business refer to several «locations» they have throughout Manhattan. These are not «locations». For example, the address listed here as being on 8^th avenue is a UPS store. Allegedly you drop off your irreplaceable VHS tapes to the distracted employees of this UPS franchise (who are presumably busy running their own business), fill out a multi-​page form (good luck if you have any questions about how to fill out the form) and once you have done all that then you have to call iDigitize and let them know they have a tape waiting for pickup. In essence this generically named business is running a mail in service where instead of paying for postage you have to walk over to a UPS franchise. Except the post office has more locations and allows you to insure the package and notifies of where your package is at all times. Did I mention it’s hard to get iDigitize on the phone? So even if you want to let them know they have a tape waiting at the UPS franchise you will have trouble getting through. When I did get through and asked them where their place of business is they told me in was on 42^nd street. I said, Great let me drop my irreplaceable VHS tape myself so I can at least shake your hand. They replied that they didn’t work that way. This poor customer service is one of the recurring themes of the Unilocal reviews for this business.

I dropped my VHS tapes off in mid-​September and after much one sided communication (from me) I finally was able to pick them up a month later. Horrible customer service. Not worth dealing with them.

Pro: I sent slides and VHS tapes to be digitized. The VHS tapes were done perfectly on the first try. The slides were done well, eventually.
Cons: It takes a long time — much longer than expected — and there is very little communication along the way initiated by them. When I got the files of the digitized slides they were terrible, unusable. I called to inquire and was told they had skipped a step but could fix them without getting the slides back from me. After a while, and a few calls initiated by me, they determined they needed the slides back. They promised to expedite since it was their fault and because I had told them I was going to be out of town and needed them back by a certain date. I did not get them back by that date, and they didn’t seem to remember the date even though I had emailed it to them at their request. Nothing for a while, until I called back. No sense of urgency from them, no apologies, no real customer service. I got them back eventually, and they seem to be fine this time around. I do feel like they should have been the ones to initiate communication since they made a mistake, and I think if I never called them to check now and again I might still be waiting. I first sent my materials on June 2 and paid on June 4, and today (August 18) is the day I finally have everything.
Verdict: The digitization was fine (ultimately), and the people to whom I spoke were friendly. If you’re in no particular hurry and don’t mind the lack of communication, I would not discourage you from working with them.

Last year I had a half dozen vhs tapes I needed transferred to DVDs. I dropped them off at a Fed Ex location near me, and not only were they VERY expensive, it took 3 MONTHS and MANY phone calls to get the job done. I was told that other jobs were willing to pay extra to expedite (speed) their requests so they took precedence over my job. It was a very frustrating experience. That said, the job was done properly, finally.
Then this past summer I discovered an old Beta Scan tape that I wanted to view, and had trouble finding any one with the equipment to transfer it to a DVD. IDigitize said they could do it and quoted me a figure of $ 75 — $ 125. I spoke about my previous experience with them and they apologized and said they would make sure there would be no delay this time. So — I dropped it off again at the Fed Ex location, and a few days later got my Pay Pal invoice for over $ 250! I had been very clear about what I needed done and yet this price was twice the high estimate. I called, and was able to negotiate down to $ 175 (plus tax)
because I was a returning customer. The job was completed in just two weeks, but if you deal with them — be prepared for issues.

Thank you iDigitize. You’ve taken my family’s most cherished memories and made them part of our permanent story. You converted a combination of 22 VHS and 8 mm tapes into MP4 files for me and they look fantastic. I’m going to dig through my parent’s basement and see if I can find even more.

Just converted old VHS tapes and made copies of DVDs to pass out for Christmas presents. Get presents done for the family and extended family, plus, I plan on watching the movies over the holiday. Dropped off the VHS tapes at the UPS store next to work and picked them up in a few days!
