I work in the city and I needed some quick tailoring done on a blazer. These guys were awesome! Quick work at a reasonable price! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone! I’ll be back for sure!

I have been referred to Imparali by a friend, because every dress shirt that I would buy wouldn’t fit me well. My friend recommended me Imparali, to get some customs shirts. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. I ended up ordering couple customs shirts, and I love that they finally fit my body well, and the quality of the shirts are good quality. They sat down with me and helped me chose the color and style of the shirt. I am extremely happy with the service I received here. I would totally recommend this place if you are looking for a custom shirt, suit, or alterations.

As a petite person it becomes difficult to find fitted clothing. Everything ends up too long or too wide. A friend recommended this spot and since then I’ve gotten ALL my jeans and work pants tailored here, along with some shirts. They do great work; I’ve never had an issue and the staff is amazing! They have convenient hours all week including weekends. They don’t rush you and will work with you until you’re fully satisfied. Prices are reasonable and alterations are done in no time as well. I recommend this place to everyone!

You wouldn’t know it from walking in but they also do women’s alterations and they are great at it too. I’ve been to several weddings in the past few years and for every single one I’ve had dresses altered by Imparali. They’re prices are decent as well considering I needed the alterations within a week. They go out of their way to not only accommodate you but to make your time in there pleasant.

He noticed a small tear in my custom made pants and had me take them off for a repair on the spot.

I was recommended by a friend to get my tuxedo tailored here. They measured me and said they’d contact me when it was ready. I came back and my waste line wasn’t touched on the suit. Annoyed, but oversights happen. A week later I came back and all fit well.
My wedding day camel. But after walking down the aisle with my new bride my sister-​in-​law approached me telling me the bottom of my jacket was not hemmed and the silk was flapping in the wind. That oversight was unacceptable and embarrassing at least!
My warning to you: DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Way too many oversights for such an expensive tailor like this.

I’ve been going to Matt for over 5 years now and needless to say, every year he keeps getting better and better. More materials, new offerings (socks, ties), just continuing to impress me. It’s really a testament to the quality, fit and style of the suit and shirt when you’re waiting for the subway in New York City and not one, but multiple strangers compliment on the fit and the material of the suit and ask who your tailor is. Not something that happens in the city where everyone hates everything. Love this place and will continue to be a customer for years to come.

I have been going to Imparali and to Matt for 2 – 3 years now. Matt (and his colleagues) are top notch in every way. Quality is amazing, price is very fair, and the service is absolutely fantastic. After I tried a couple of shirts, I was hooked; I went on to buy more shirts, suits, tuxedos, pants, pretty much everything. No reason to pay more money for lower quality (and worse-​fitting) stuff from a department store. A few of my friends have also used him (some that I referred, some that others referred), and every person that has used Imparali has absolutely loved it. I also began to bring in some of my older clothes to get fitted, and Matt’s team did an awesome job; after their tailor work it felt like I had bought new clothes.
Matt is also not just out for the sale; there have been a few cases where I’ve asked him genuinely about getting a new shirt or suit, and he’ll remind me that I bought a very similar suit with him in the past, so that might not make sense. This is just one example of how much I love it here.
Besides for the amount that I use Imparali, my closest friends and family (Dad and 2 brothers) have all began to use Imparali as well. They have all loved it.

I have been a regular at Imparali for almost 9 years now. I first found out about them when i had to get some of my suits and shirts altered. I have broad shoulders and a small waist so its a pain to get off the rack. After Matt and his team worked on my clothes they fit incredibly perfectly. After getting to know Matt, he suggested that rather than wasting time and money on off the rack i should go for custom suits/​shirts. I did once and havent looked back. I have quite a few suits and shirts that i got done. Matt and his team have an impeccable eye for detail and the variety of swatches to choose from is mind blowing. They work within your budget to get what you are looking for and what you get looks like a million bucks. I have recommended quite a few friends & colleagues to Imparali and they have also been super satisfied repeat customers. They are so good even after delivering the finished product about any minor alterations/​repairs needed (which rarely happen). I would say hands down my best and favorite shopping experience for formal clothes. They have now expanded their selection to include shoes and accessories so my addiction with getting stuff from them may get worse :-)…Plus its good to know that what you are wearing is from a place that has tons of celeb clientele.

Wow just wow, what a fantastic experience!
I really feel silly for shopping at department stores for so many years after my visit to their New York City location. Not only did Matt take care of my sport coat and suits I brought in by providing quality alterations at a fantastic price he also took time to go over my current wardrobe and to my absolute surprise getting custom perfectly fitted suits and shirts would actually be cheaper than what I was spending off the rack.
When my 5 shirts and two custom suits came in I was just blown away with the perfect form fit and superior quality. I honestly don’t know why any business professional would not go this route. Imparali has earned my business for life and to top off my perfect experience they have a Houston location where I live that I will be trying out tomorrow. Hopefully I will be back on Unilocal with a equally positive review to report!

In house service was fine, but everything changed once I left the premises. My suit and shirt arrived about 6 weeks later. The shirt fit very well. Unfortunately, neither the suit jacket or pants fit and the fit was so off they could not be worn. After emailing back and forth when Matt, he had me mail them my suit with another suit that fit well in hopes that they could alter the suit they made to match the measurements of the properly fitting suit. (which was done at my expense). A few weeks later, both suits were returned and the Imparali suit still did not fit. I then emailed Matt to attempt to come by the store on a recent trip to NYC and he never responded. So now I have an $ 800 suit sitting in my closet that does not fit, can’t be fixed by a local tailor, and thus will never be worn.

Brought some dress pants to get them tapered and shorten. They did a great job and service was pleasant. They are pricey so be prepared.

Imparali hands down does some of the best tailoring in NYC! The guys are the epitome of hospitality, and the care they put into their work is something special indeed. They get it right everytime. I highly recommend using them if you are in search of that smart looking, perfectly cut mens suit, jacket, or shirt. They do it all, and did I mention how well they do it? You get the point. Go there!

Quality is subpar and customer service that leaves a lot to be desired. My suits are 2 years old and the pants have ripped on two suits. I’ve called to see if they have the fabric to replace and cannot get a call back or an answer. I will not be going back to Imparali!

I had not been able to find a tailor since moving to New York about eighteen months ago. So when I saw the positive reviews for Imparali, coupled with the close proximity to my office, I figured it seemed like a good option. Well, it wasn’t.
As an initial matter, it took them eighteen (18) days to complete alterations to the two suits I left with them. In all fairness, I told them that there was no particular rush when I left after having been measured. But I figured no rush meant ten days, maybe two weeks at the most. Instead, I waited almost three weeks.
The real surprise, though, came after picking them up when I tried them on at my apartment. It was then that I realized that they hadn’t done the alterations agreed at the time of my visit (or, at least, had done an exceptionally poor job). In fact, so far as I could tell, they hadn’t done much of anything to the suits, which still seemed to fit about as poorly as they had when I dropped them off for alterations with Imparali.
Another sign of the poor craftsmanship was the fact that both suits I brought in for alterations were by the same designer and in the same size. As such, I requested the same alterations to each suit. After getting them back from Imparali, however, they fit differently. I don’t know enough about tailoring to appreciate those differences, but in addition to my own observation on this point, my wife also noticed it (without any prompting from me).
On top of all of this, the cost to perform these alterations was close to $ 500. I understand that services are more expensive in the City, and I’m more than happy to pay for those services, the same way I get paid to do my job, when they are done right. To spend that type of money on shoddy or lazy (or both) work is immensely frustrating, however.
I know from reading these reviews that people have had great experiences here having custom suits made for them. And I don’t doubt that they dedicate more time and care into their work in that context. But if you are considering bringing suits here for alterations – don’t. You’ll end up spending a lot of money in exchange for waiting too long for a poor quality product.

Here’s my experience: I had read about both Matt and his shop, Imparali Custom Tailors located on 5^th Ave in NYC, on a well-​respected men’s clothing forum. I decided to take a chance. I reached out to him via email and followed up with a phone call. I asked him if he could copy a suit I loved in a different color. He said sure, and sent me some swatches. A few days later, without leaving Cleveland, Ohio, I mailed him (I know — it sounds strange) a suit that I really liked and fit me like a glove (it was tailor-​made by a terrific Italian tailor in Cleveland). I’m super choosey about lapel width, functioning buttons on the cuffs, interior pockets, etc., and I let him know that upfront. About 40 days later he mailed me an absolutely beautiful, perfect blue suit that was a stitch-​by-​stitch copy of the dark brown one I sent him, only with my name stitched on the inside «checkbook» pocket. My only surprise? The material was actually superior to my original, and the cost was much less. I mean much, much less. Again, this is just one person’s experience, but I wanted to share my story.

These guys are legit. The space they have is currently unfinished, but the gentleman who helped me explained they had just moved into the new space. Doesn’t really make a difference, because the quality of their service is top notch. Everyone there was a pleasure to work with.
I was assisted by Matt H. who was not only helpful, but had a good sense a humor as well. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this — but at some other tailors I’ve been to, they all look like they’re over 75, don’t speak much, and when they did, I couldn’t understand a word they were saying.
I got two pairs of jeans worked on — which I am extremely fickle about. If I’m spending a couple hundo on one pair of jeans, I don’t want some rookie or schlub working on them. I asked, but Imparali always keep the original hems which is a huge deal. The jeans came out perfect and this is without a doubt my go-​to tailor in Manhattan.
I also wear a lot of suits, and am 100% positve they would come out perfect if I needed any work on them.
If you work or live in mid-​town, you can’t go wrong bringing your stuff to these guys.

I’ve never left a Unilocal review before, but felt compelled to make this my first because Imparali is really a gem. I searched for a reliable tailor I can trust for years before finding Matt at Imparali, and I haven’t looked back since. I have used Matt probably 25-​plus times and have always been highly satisfied with my experience. He is extremely professional, the work is high-​quality, and the prices are reasonable. What more can you ask for in a tailor?
I really appreciate Matt’s candor as well. He tells you what he can and cannot do, and gives you straight-​up opinions on what does and doesn’t look good. He doesn’t try to sell you on alterations that you don’t need. Matt’s a very friendly guy, who will remember everything about you and your style, and make you feel like a valued customer whenever you’re there. He also has a really comfortable and recently renovated space; I actually look forward to going there.

Just bought my second suit with Matt at Imparali. This guy knows his stuff, and is friendly and easy to work with. He is not pushy and understands good customer service. They do great work and officially earned my repeat business after they made me an awesome navy suit that I customized with Matt’s help. I knew it would look good, but the amount of compliments I get every time I where it to work is pretty amazing.
A suit there will cost between $ 800 and $ 1000 when all is said and done, which I think is reasonable considering the high quality and they way the customers are treated. Matt and his team stick to the timeline and purchases after the first are extremely easy because they get to know your body type and what you like. I haven’t tried any custom shirts yet since I am slowly trying to upgrade my suits first, but would imagine their quality is similarly excellent. Would definitely recommend and already have started doing so.
