The Isabel O’Neil Studio teaches the Art of the Painted Finish. Basic Painting Techniques, Gilding, Color, Design are the foundation courses that give students the skills to learn Distressing, Glazing, Marble, Lacquer and many other courses

History

Established in 1955.

After encouragement from James Amster, Isabel O’Neil began the Studio Workshop in 1955. She taught until her death in 1981. Isabel set up a Foundation to continue the work she began. The Foundation supports the work of the many volunteers that maintain the Studio Workshop. Thousands of artisans have passed through the doors. Beginning with Basic Painting Techniques on Furniture then moving on to Gilding, Design Techniques, Glazing, Distressing, Marble, Faux Bois, Malachite, Tortoise. Just a few of the faux and fantasy finishes that are taught throughout the year.
