This liquor store used to be the Grog Room, and it has a selection of wines. It’s on the ground floor of an apartment building that looks like a hospital.

I frequent GG for the cheese counter, I love the fresh produce, and I also appreciate the very array of vegetarian options I have there. However, I was hoping to make a special dinner for my meat-​eating husband and approached the butcher counter. I was greeted by a lovely man named Victor and I explained the situation. He was so helpful (explaining cuts of meat and suggesting preparations), I could not had pulled off such a successful dinner without him. ASK FOR VICTOR!!!

Wow this place is excellent from there massive selection of wines to almost every type of spirit you can think of. There staff helped me select 3 bottles of great wine for my dinner party which my guests loved, and they also do free delivery.

Finally! Wine is back on Roosevelt Island!
Island Wine and Spirits is in the same place as the Old Grog shop, but it’s MUCH nicer. It’s beautifully furnished with a nice range of wines at reasonable prices. I highly recommend it… if for no other reason, I’d prefer not to have to board a subway or tram to find a good glass of merlot. Let’s not let this wine shop go out of business too. ;)
