Shop J. Crew for the Highest Quality Women’s Clothing and see the entire selection of Cashmere Sweaters, Dresses and Shoes, Jackets, Accessories and more.
The service at this J. Crew is impeccable. I have received excellent suggestions from Liz and Andrea. Liz suggested a pair of shoes I had not seen, and they are perfect. Returns are easy. The thing to remember about this store is that it is a limited selection of the higher end stuff mixed with basics. They run up to size 10 in shoes and 12 in clothing.

Meh. I found the service to be only so-so here. No one greeted me and two staff members actively ignored me in the nearly empty store. I was hunting for the cash wrap, which is hidden away to the right of the door btw. The register clerk was friendly but pretty useless and didn’t care to help me exchange something. I just emailed my personal shopper from my usual store to have her put through the exchange. Annoying. It’s a very beautiful maze to find anything. I will cede that presentation is spectacular, but it’s absolutely set up to mimic the other rich old lady boutiques along Madison. If I had a normal jcrew nearby I’d go there but I don’t.

I had no intention of going into J. Crew last week but was walking by with my wife and spotted an unusual necklace in the window. Well not only did we purchase the necklace, but we were treated like royalty by Personal Stylist extraordinaire Michael Hurd.(sp?) One look at my admittedly beautiful wife, and he pulled clothing that suited her tastes in the perfect sizes, fabrics and feel. She was just stunned at his choices. Pieces she never would have found herself or thought to try on. She now has truly gorgeous luxurious fall fashions for her autumn wardrobe all thanks to Michael. We left with probably 15 items but are returning only to THAT store for Michael’s expertise. And Michael, if you are reading this and remember us(my wife wore the new blazer and slacks out of the shop to head to lunch) — our sincere thanks. Please message me Michael if anything comes in that you think would be great on her! You’re the best.

I shop at JCrew quite a bit and get excited to pop in to this shop when i’m in new york. However, I’ve never had a good experience here. The staff have never spoken to me here, ever. It’s really too bad, because I always see several things that I would purchase. But, I never end up purchasing something here because the staff are so rude. It’s funny that the staff are so unpleasant, since the store itself is quaint and pleasant. At my regular JCrew the staff are very friendly, helpful and actually want to make a sale. I agree with Melissa’s review– the best person that works here is the doorman.

Fabulous. That’s really all I have to say about it. Although this location is a bit more upscale and smaller than most J. Crew stores, my experience here was fantastic. I didn’t come in with anything in mind to purchase, however, looking around the store changed my mind(as always). Michael was incredibly helpful, never annoyed, and happily checked for my size when something didn’t fit quite as I liked. He was attentive, but not overbearing. Besides Michael’s A+ customer service, I was greeted by every employee in the store, and they even knew who was helping me and what I had tried on. I ended up leaving with jeans, a blouse, sandals, and very impressed.

It’s true that I haven’t met a J. Crew store that I didn’t like, but this one is the best. The staff is fabulous. Everyone is so helpful and beyond friendly that it makes the store seem like an independent boutique rather than a chain retailer.

If you like J. Crew, you will LOVE this location. It’s more upscale than the standard J. Crew, but don’t be fooled — they have not only a vast selection of the pricier J. Crew Collection items, but«regular» J. Crew standbys as well. The best part about shopping at this J. Crew is the level of attention and customer service. Everyone who works here knows the products inside and out, and is genuinely interested in fashion. They go to great lengths to answer questions and will give helpful feedback when asked. A fun shopping experience, particularly since a lot of hard to find J. Crew pieces can be found here!

RUDE! I’m a big fan of J. Crew — just not this store. Took my teenage daughters for fun… thought they would get a kick out of shopping at their favorite retail store on Madison Avenue. Each of them had one item to try on and shared a dressing room. Afterwards, a manager said loudly and right in front of my girls to another sales associate«Um, please do not let people with only ONE item have a dressing room anymore». Really?

I came here with an appointment to try on wedding dresses so I can only speak of their wedding services. They have all their wedding dresses here, and it’s easy to make an appointment, so I would recommend it so you can try it on yourself. The dresses looked different on the toothpick thin models on their website than it did on me(duh). Their dresses are very simple, but I like how they have a whole range of dresses and prices. Beware, though, that they charge more for their wedding dresses in store than they do on their website. I don’t know why.

Wow, something must have happened between Lauren B.‘s experience and mine, because this was by far the worst J Crew experience I’ve had. I too love J. Crew things, and when my mom and I were walking down Madison Avenue and saw this classed up version of a mall-favorite, complete with gold lettering, I begged her to go in. The staff were incredibly unhelpful. They all seemed too busy to pay attention to us, whether it was because they were helping a size 0 girl(in my experience at other J. Crews, the staff radio for someone to come help and ask you very nicely to hold on a minute) or because folding cardigans was the most important task on earth. I literally asked the folding-employee for a dress in another size, and she just kept right on folding, without calling it in on the radio or asking someone else to help. So I just stood there — I mean, what else was I going to do? She realized that I was just standing there after about thirty seconds and gave me the most exasperated look ever. Only then did she call it on the radio. Yikes, sorry to ask for a size. In terms of stock, they literally had NOTHING. The presentation in this store is pretty for sure, but when we asked for any other sizes for the items on display, we got very rude«no“s. Do they just not stock anything past a size 6 in this particular store? At other J Crew’s, staff are usually apologetic for not having your size in stock and will direct you to the red phone where you can speak to J Crew catalog staff directly or suggest a website… those guys usually want to make a sale. Here, it’s just sort of, well, «tough s**t.» The best member on this J. Crew’s staff is the doorman. Thanks for opening the door.

I always laugh when people review chain stores. A J. Crew is a J. Crew is a J. Crew, right? Wrong. It’s the staff that really stood out here in their Madison Avenue, Upper East Side location. I am not really one to hit Madison Avenue to go shopping, but it’s the closest J. Crew to my apartment and I had to make a return before I went out of town. When I walked in, I looked around and noticed that this J. Crew was the fanciest J. Crew I have ever seen. I was immediately turned off. It’s a J. Crew, it’s not supposed to be overly fancy, they are about casual cool. I beelined for the counter and made my return. They were super helpful, especially since I didn’t have the tags on my dress. On my way out, I noticed they had some items I hadn’t seen in the catalogue and thought I might take a quick browse. I really had zero intentions of buying anything. I was about to go away for a week and planned on spending any money I had there. Oh fine, I’ll try this elastic waistband skirt in a coral color. I’m going to the caribbean, after all. Let me interrupt by saying I love J. Crew. Yep, I’m one of those people. I can’t help it. I just really enjoy their bright colors and preppy clothes. Okay, fine, I’ll just try this one skirt and then be out of here. A woman comes up to me and introduces herself as Virginia and asks if she can start a fitting room. I say sure, but that’s all I’m trying on and I will follow her there. She drops my skirt off and says she will be right back. I don’t know why, but I proceed to take off my heavy winter coat and get the skirt on. The skirt is cute, but I’m not really sold. Two seconds later there is a knock on the door and it’s Virginia with tank tops and long cardigans to pair the skirt with. Ugh fine. I’ll try the other cute things I shouldn’t spend any money on. I am much more of a dress person anyway, so I’m thinking I’ll be turned off by the whole ensemble and leave the fitting room with nothing. I’m sure you guessed where this review is going. Yes, I loved my whole outfit. In fact, I wound up trying on bathing suits, got the skirt in 2 different sizes, kept asking for different sizes and colors in tank tops, tee-shirts and cardigans, even a pair of ballerina flats. Virginia never once looked exasperated or irritated with me. She always happily bounced off to get what I needed. When they didn’t have what I wanted, she never came back empty handed. She brought other things I might like, other sizes, other colors. I was never waiting there, standing in the room, hoping someone would hurry up with my stuff. Virginia was so helpful, I wound up buying a skirt, tank top, cardigan and tee-shirt(I never sad this was an advertisement for how to be responsible when shopping). If you like J. Crew, go to this one and ask Virginia for her help. She’s the best. Keep in mind, this location is women’s clothing only. Sorry boys! They also do not carry as much selection as the other stores, but they do have items that are not available in the other stores, so it’s worth checking out.
