All I need is to say GNOCCHI. — Best I’ve had thus far and I eat at many gnocci Italian places, even in Italy. Something about their cream sauce that hits the spot.
Don’t get me wrong, all of their other food is GREAT here too! I’ve been here about 5 times and so far I had the burger, steak salad, black noodle pasta, gnocchi and desserts everytime.
For Desserts, they usually change it up seasonally but they always nail it all the time.
Service: I can’t complain, they are definitely on their shit and they are super nice and accommodating

Jane is a much more popular brunch location than the understated exterior gives away. Although we had reservations for 11 we weren’t seated for another half hour, so the visit started on a sour note. The waiter was super nice, and I was quite impressed by the selection of benedicts. The complimentary bread was on the dry side, our entrees were just OK. The others at my table noted the same. It was perfectly edible food, but nothing to write home about.
Every brunch order gets a free drink with the selection including mimosas and bloody mary’s. They adhere to NY law of not serving alcohol until after 12 on Sundays, which is great. I also noticed that they didn’t serve alcohol to the entire table when someone at the table was underage or forgot a valid ID.

One glance at their unique benedict selection and I was in love. Where else can you find three different types of hollandaise and four types of benedicts? Not to mention, their sweet breakfast items (crepes, waffles etc.) were to die for. The vanilla bean french toast is, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had. I mean, brioche in crème brûlée batter? It doesn’t get any better than that!

I was expecting a lot from this place, but I don’t see the hype over the food. I came with a friend, and both of us ordered the Benedict Jane and a side of the Rosemary fries. We received a small loaf tin with 4 slices of bread. When it came, I was honestly confused as to why they were serving 4 slices in an entire small loaf pan when it only took up less than half of the actual pan. The presentation definitely could have been better because the emptiness of the pan is kind of off-​putting. I guess it kind of makes sense because they probably keep it full for bigger parties, but at the same time, the plating could have been adjusted to suit smaller groups too. The ambience was nice; we came around 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon, and it was pretty empty aside from a large group, and a few tables here and there. We didn’t really get that much servicing, so I can’t really comment on how great the waiters were.
The Benedict Jane was okay. I liked the idea of using a crab cake instead of the usual egg muffin base, but personally, it didn’t deliver as well as I hoped. One plus was that the crab cake did have a lot of crab meat, but a major con was that the center of the crab cake was rather mushy and did not have a great texture. It was partially soggy from the greens (spinach probably?) that was stacked on top of it. The greens were not exactly the best plating option, nor did it taste that fresh. Definitely would have been better left off the plate completely. The Benedict jane also came with a side of potatoes and onions that were alright. The rosemary fries weren’t seasoned enough. The top layer of fries was crisp and seasoned, but as we got through the basket, it was evident that it was gradually becoming under-​seasoned.

What stood out to me the most about this place was the service. Our drinks were constantly filled and our table was cleared completely for desserts right after we finished our meal. The staff was attentive during our entire meal.
We came here for dinner and were seated immediately. I had the Steak Frites which was good but nothing special. My friend ordered the Duck because the server said the plate looks like Christmas. He was right and the dish was amazing.
I’ve tried to get brunch here before but the wait is always long. Next time, I’ll make a reservation ahead of time. I do like how you can leave your phone number and they’ll text you when your table is ready.

A solid brunch spot that allows you to make reservations?! First off, it’s rare that a great brunch establishment allows reservations, so you have no excuse not to come here; that in itself makes Jane 5 stars. With a reservation in hand, you’ll feel great seeing the huge crowd waiting outside and you didn’t have to wait at all!
Like the other Unilocalers, I recommend ordering the French toast. It’s a heavy dish, but definitely worth sharing because it’s made with brioche bread. Despite how good it is, do not attempt to finish it by yourself; it gets way too sweet. Also, you’ll miss out on the Benedict Jane. The poached eggs on the Benedict Jane sits on top of crab and crawfish cakes instead of your standard biscuits, so it’s a great change to the iconic eggs benedict dish. My boyfriend HATED eggs Benedict, but after trying a bite of the Benedict Jane, his taste buds were changed. I mean with its restaurant name in its dish, I wouldn’t expect anything else!

Fairly solid brunch place, I think this place is so wildly popular because of the complimentary cocktail it offers with every branch entrée on Sundays. That, and the place is pretty cute as well.
I’ve been back a few times, both for dinner and brunch. Would highly, highly recommend the awesome prime rib they serve on Saturday nights, absolutely love their bread basket with some times muffins, sometimes walnut raisin bread, and always a lovely strawberry butter at brunch.
There Benedict with crabcakes is a solid 4/​5, as is their shrimp ranchero and portobello scramble. But add a complementary bloody Mary to that, and now you see why people keep coming back.
For brunch, make reservations in advance, otherwise you wait for a while. Dinner is not as bad a wait, and I would highly recommend on coming for prime rib Saturdays and also trying their gnocchi — it’s panfried and delicious.

Why is this place always crowded on the weekend? Every time I want to come here for brunch I have to make reservations one week in advance (minus 1 star!).
I’ve ordered the Benedict Jane and Benedict Johnny here and both are really good. Egg + meat + bread = happy me! My favourite part is the free juice (what? So I like FREE!).
Environment is great… makes me feel like I’m young, hip and happening (or something like that) around all the fancily dressed New Yorkers. I come here for the ego-​boost also!

Everything here was excellent during out Saturday brunch. The everything crepes were were great, almost like an everything bagel with lox and cheese (but better!). However, I don’t recommend this if you are sensitive to salt. The avocado toast was also a standout.

We went for brunch on Saturday and I highly recommend it! make a reservation, as it was busy despite being a cold winter Saturday afternoon. As far as NYC brunches go, this place is a bit classier and more expensive than standard brunch spots, but the food is great! Only complaint would be they do not know what a ‘flat white’ is, which given its a mainstay at Starbucks now, is a bit disappointing.
We both had the standard eggs benedict which were perfectly prepared and they also have several variations on eggs benedict if you want to add crab, lobster, or make it ‘southern style’ with grits, which looked delicious. Portions are very big though, I’d recommend sharing the eggs benedict and getting one of their sweet sides (I’ll do this next time).
Overall its a great spot for a more ‘mature’ brunch. Can’t wait to go back!

I wasn’t expecting to like Jane as much as I did… as much as I do. I was expecting another overrated brunch place with crowds, lines, mediocre food, expensive eggs & pancakes & toast, and the same old watered down unlimited booze options. Well, I’m right about most of those things, but the food was better than I expected. Don’t get me wrong. I love brunch and breakfast foods. I just don’t like how a lot of brunch places are overhyped.
Jane restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. The setting is pretty nice too.
Mr. Joy & I met some friends here for breakfast at about 9AM. So we didn’t get the complimentary cocktail with brunch entrée because of that no alcohol before noon on Sundays law. I’ve never encountered such a specific alcohol legal protocol before my NYC food excursions. How badly do over-​indulgers abuse boozy brunch options? Never mind, I don’t want to know.
About the food…
I wanted to try the lobster Benedict, but I doubted how much lobster would actually be in the dish. For $ 25 bucks, I wasn’t too curious to find out. So I was going to go with the Benedict Jane with crab & crawfish cakes, BUT the waiter gave such high accolade to the Benedict Johnny. I like to ask the servers for recommendations sometimes. & of course… we had to try the Vanilla Bean French Toast, right?
Benedict Johnny ($ 18) — crispy grits, maple chicken sausage, poached egg, roasted tomato hollandaise
I usually always get some form of eggs Benedict at lunch.
I was wary of the grits, because I don’t usually like the texture. But this is more of a crispy corn cake and I like them!
Eggs were good. Bouncy egg whites, runny yolk.
Oh, the house potatoes are pretty good and crispy too. I’m usually good with just a few bites, so Mr. Joy always finishes the potatoes.
I don’t usually order pancakes or french toast. I like those things okay, but when I go out for brunch, I like to order proteins. But when in Rome… or when in Jane, I had to try it.
Vanilla Bean French Toast ($ 18) — brioche bread, crème brûlée batter, Vermont maple syrup
This was almost like eating cake without all the annoying cream or frosting or icing.
Maybe it was the brioche. Maybe the batter was just done right. I don’t know. But it was so good. The outside had enough browning. The inside was all thick & fluffy. I didn’t even need syrup. Well, I don’t usually want syrup unless French toast is dry and this was not. Also, the portion was huge.
After we got through half our meal, I for one was getting pretty full. The restaurant was getting busy. One of the busboys came by and asked if we were done, almost in an overly efficient need to clear our tables. I thought yeah okay I guess I’m done. But if I didn’t feel a sense of urgency from him, I think I could have picked away at the French toast some more. In fact, when our server came back to ask if we wanted anything else, he jokingly said that we cleared our plates rather quickly.
This is one of the few brunch places that I could see myself returning to. I would like to try the Benedict Jane next time and I might get the French toast again.

Have some mixed feelings about this place.
Décor: is a bit hotel lobby dining area.
Service: Everyone here is very friendly and knowledgeable and bubbly (lunchtime staff on a Monday)
Drinks: not a fan of their house cocktails
The food:
OK so it really started on a high note we had the oysters, so damn good we ordered it again. The gnocchi is out of control amazing, an absolute must try best I ever had hands down get it!!!
The mains were a bit underwhelming and anticlimactic, got the special of the day prime rib benedict or some kind of beef it was like rubbery Philly cheesesteak meat, egg was over poached, and sauce was unmemorabale. Burger was blah undercooked and not much flavor. Vanilla bean french toast, bit dry couldnt really taste the vanilla. The classic Benedict was the worst, sauce was so sour, ham was dry. Fries were good lemon aoli was great. We left very unsatisfied but full. Kind of like full but not in a good way.
I would come back but only for starters, saw some other tables get some salads that looked amazing would want to try. Good spot for lunch, order a bunch or starters and do it tapas style I think is the way to go. Service was great. Love/​hate.

So two friends and I set up an impromptu brunch on Saturday during prime time. We initially had our eyes set on another place but the wait was over 1.5 hours. We wandered and ended up here with the wait being approximately 30 minutes AND they texted us to let us know our reservation was ready. I think that was one of the most important things from this restaurant. No one was forced to stand around waiting.
So by the time the reservation was ready, we all made a stop at Starbucks and had a cup of coffee (woops). But they didn’t mind it! Another yay for me. Because I’ve been yelled at for having outside drinks — which I understand.
Now the server was the nicest guy ever. Very kind, accommodating, and great smile. Made all of us feel very welcome.
Menu in terms of layout was very simple and easy to understand. They had a lot of options for brunch.
Two of us ordered the lobster benny which was steamed lobster, spinach, English muffin, and poached eggs covered in hollandaise sauce. A side of home fries. The presentation of the dish looked great. The dish tasted great.
It was a little on the pricier end for eggs bene ($ 25) but it was lobster… And it was really good!
I definitely will be back because of all the aforementioned services they provide and all the other delicious options they have on the menu.

We all were amazed by our meals and raving all night. Showed our guests a blast! Will be back for brunch I hear it’s amazing.

Came here for a Saturday brunch and boy was it packed! We had a reservation and were seated shortly after arriving. You must have your while party present to be seated, as with most places in the city.
I ordered the avocado toast. I’m a big fan of avocado, and often make dishes with it at home. I thought that the avocado on the toast had too much lime in it, and not enough seasoning. You really need to season avocados generously to appreciate its flavor. It tasted bland and too citrusy, which did not compliment the egg very well. The poached eggs were perfect and not too runny.
My friend ordered the steak and eggs and vanilla French toast. I didn’t eat any of t but the French toast looked remarkable.
Would definitely come here again!

About a 2 – 2.5: The hubs and I came to Jane for brunch, reservations being made a few weeks in advance. Jane has been around since ’01 and offers a brunch, lunch, dinner, and a dessert menu, and is a neighborhood favorite for some morning dining. Complimentary bread was served, with some rustic raisin and nut bread slices with a strawberry-​tinted butter. I tried the Steak and Eggs, which came with a small grilled flat iron steak, a sunny-​side up egg, and a large triangular mac & cheese croquette — the steak itself was pretty okay, but it was just not seasoned — it was very bland, and I was a little sad since the steak could have been so much more! The sunny-​side up egg was a nice touch, as meat is always good with a runny egg: D The mac & cheese croquette, in which I was pretty excited for, was also on the underwhelming side — it was made up of elbow macaroni, lightly dressed with cheese, and fried lightly with a covering of a thin layer of breadcrumbs. Service was super friendly, and the place itself was a little dark. There is additional space downstairs, more for larger parties/​events, with a nicer ambiance. I’m glad I was finally able to try Jane out, but won’t be back!

Finally made it to brunch here after what felt like a whole year. I assumed that reservations would be an annoying thing to deal with at a place this popular BUT, reserved 3 seats just one day in advance and made it!
The wait time for your table is ~5 mins even though there are about 5000 people asking to be seated.
I ordered eggs for brunch instead of my usual pancakes/​crepes/​French toast and was NOT disappointed.
Either I’ve been sleeping on Eggs Benedict for too long or Jane just does it damn well.
ANYWAY, definitely go to there.

Came here for brunch on Black Friday. The ambiance was casual-​fancy. When you walk in the hostess is right in front of you, ready to get you to your table. The service was outstanding. For every waiter that came by or served my table, they made sure my needs were met before letting me be. They would check up on my table to see if we needed anything. It was great service.
The food:
Before ordering your main dish, they would give your table bread and butter or cream cheese (not sure which it was). They had two types of bread. One was plain while the other had raisins in it. The butter/​cream cheese spread was in pink! I assumed it was strawberry flavored but I couldn’t quite make out with what it was. It tasted alright. I didn’t expect a lot of flavor from it.
The main dishes my table had were the Benedict Johnny and Benedict Jane. They were the highly recommended dishes and the most popular ones according to the waiter that served my table. For both dishes, the eggs were slightly over poached. I was hoping for a very runny center when i was piercing the egg with my knife. It wasn’t. That was disappointing. Nonetheless, the Benedict Jane had spinach then crab patties underneath the eggs. It was very flavorful. I can actually taste the crab flavor. It wasn’t masked by other ingredients and it paired well with everything on the dish. Benedict Johnny had meat patties and no spinach. It was yummy too. On both plates, there was an enormous amount of potatoes laying right next to the Benedict eggs. It was a blander than I liked. Overall, the dishes were very filling. I couldn’t even finish one dish to myself.
Highly recommend the Benedict dishes!

Jane is an AMAZING spot for many reasons.
1) You can make reservations for Sunday brunch via opentable. I made a reservation 24 hours beforehand and there were still a few available slots left. Not waiting in line for brunch is basically unheard of in this city.
2) A delicious complimentary cocktail or juice with Sunday brunch! As per New York City law, alcohol can’t be served before noon, but have no fear. Even if you start eating at 11, you can tell your server to wait until 12 exactly to bring out your cocktail.
3) Very classy, spacious restaurant with excellent service at completely reasonable prices (~$ 20/​person).
4) 4 DIFFERENT TYPES OF EGGS BENEDICTS (classic canadian bacon, maple chicken apple sausage, crawfish crabcake, and lobster)! I had the famous Benedict Johnny, which was made with maple chicken apple sausage, tomato hollandaise sauce, fried grits, and home fries. Everything was DELICIOUS. The hollandaise sauce was unlike any that I have tried before. The sausage was amazingly flavorful. And the HOME FRIES. Normally, I don’t even like potatoes, but these fries were just out of this world.
5) Very extensive menu in addition to the famous eggs bennies. I will definitely come back to try the sweet items in the future.

I made reservation for a Sat. about 3 days in advance for 4 people around 11 am. We didn’t need a reservation because there was no line, although we did come about 20 min. earlier than our reservation time. The restaurant was full but not overcrowded.
The bread basket is weak, full of burnt bread. The entrees were so-​so.
Benedict Jane — The crab cake is a really innovative twist on the Eggs Benedict. I think I’ll eat crab cakes with a poached egg on top from now on. The crab worked well with the Hollandaise sauce and pieces of spinach underneath. The side of crispy home fries had lots of onion and was flavorful enough that I didn’t need ketchup. Best entrée we ordered.
Mushroom Scramble — Tastes like normal eggs, nothing too special. The hash brown underneath is kind of weak. It was all the crispy parts of a hash brown with none of the potatoey parts. I like the crispy parts the best, but it needs some moisture to make it a good hash brown.
Vanilla Bean French Toast — I know is one of their main attractions, but I am not a fan. It was way too mushy in the middle. It’s pretty much like eating crème brûlée with a casing of bread around it. I’m not the best to judge this dish, since I don’t like crème brûlée.
Chicken and Waffles — This dish was tiny. It only came with half a waffle and a tiny piece of chicken, which was somewhat dry. I think I mixed it up with Cafeteria, because I thought they would give a whole Belgian waffle with a large piece of chicken.
Not a bad place for brunch, but my parents did not enjoy the food very much. Good thing we had no wait, but the food is not worth waiting more than 15 min. for.

El lugar es divino. Un muy buen ambiente para ir con amigos o pareja en una zona increíble, a la vuelta se Soho.
La comida riquísima, yo comí el salmón y estaba excelente Pero en la mesa hubo carne, hamburguesas y ensaladas, y todos quedaron contentos. Y los tragos estaban muy ricos.
Lo malo: Teníamos una reserva a las 9 PM y llamamos para pasarla a las 9:30. Por teléfono nos dijeron que no había problema, pero en el lugar les molestó que estuviéramos ahí tan tarde. Eramos un grupo de 7 personas y es lógico que se haga larga la comida. Al final nos trataron bastante mal, no nos quisieron servir postre, y prácticamente nos echaron.

très bon restaurant, de très bons plats dont la «everything crêpes» ou les œufs Bénédicte que je recommanderais. Les serveurs sont très bien et il y a un accès wifi.

Al sur del West Village, se encuentra este rinconcito elegante de comidas y desayunos que te enamorará. Haciendo una búsqueda por proximidad, encontré este sitio en el que se recomendaban una especialidad curiosa: vanilla french toast. Como nos pillaba cerca y de camino, paramos para echar un vistazo.
Al entrar, nos quedamos un poco sorprendidos porque parecía bastante elegante y nos asustó porque podría pasarse del presupuesto. En principio, al leer la carta, pensamos que así era, pero fuimos valientes.
Tras ver en las recomendaciones que el plato de vanilla french toast era recomendable para compartir, optamos por pedir solo eso. Si nos hubiésemos quedado con hambre, ya iríamos a otro local. Sin embargo, no nos quedamos con hambre… Más bien todo lo contrario.
Resultó ser un plato delicioso de algo muy parecido a las Torrijas en España, pero con un toque muy jugoso y con piezas de pan bastante grandes. El plato traía tres piezas (una y media cada uno) y casi nos sobra.
Tardaron bastante, pero puedo asegurar que mereció la pena. Además, nos pusieron un poco de pan y en la mesa había aceite, sal y pimienta, por lo que tuvimos un buen entretenimiento.
Como es costumbre, podíamos repetir tanto el agua, como el café.
Además, la atención fue maravillosa.
